I just started Metformin on tuesday and since weds I've had a lot of eggwhite CM....anyone experience this? Also, I was doing some research and Metformin only works for 8-12 hours in the body. I'm wondering then why in the heck am I taking 500mg once a day for 2!!!! months until they recheck me. I don't want it to be a waste of time. I've had NO s/e or weightloss so far (I know its still early for the weight loss). I just want it to work. Also, I go to a nurse midwife and am wondering if I should switch to a gyno until this is solved....thanks

Most docs start you out on the lowest possible dose to see how your body works with it. In other words, why give you 3000mg if 500mg will do the trick? So wait and see. You might not be *that* IR, or your doctor may be taking the path of least resistence and taking it slowly.

You don't mention who prescribed this to you, but I HIGHLY recommend finding a reproductive endocrinologist for this. Once you're pg, switch to a mw if you'd like. But mw-s don't have the medical training or the expertise in endocrinology that an RE does. Mw-s are great for monitoring pgy and delivering babies, but IMO, as much as your endocrine health affects every part of your body (not just your ability to become pg), you should get that squirreled away first and get thyself to an RE. :)

On Tuesday morning (if you're in the US), call your gyn or regular doctor and get a referral to an RE. You'll have much better success getting pg in the long run and educate yourself about your health and overall wellbeing in the process. :)
