I was just wondering if it was safe to take Metformin and Vitex. My nurse midwife didn't know anything about vitex, but if it will help me I want to stay on it. Also, I'm starting on Metformin 500mg once daily today. They want me to take blood tests in another 2 months to see if it is helping. I'm not happy with the dosage because it seems like everyone else wasn't helped until 1000 or 1500. My husband seems to think that it is good so I maybe won't have the side effects. Opinions? I'm new here as well... I just want to loose weight and have a baby...seems like that's too much to ask right now for me. Thanks so much for everyone and their support. Since being diagnosed I think I've spent HOURS on this site, its awesome, and great to feel like you're not the only one. If it helps, all my hormones were "normal" but my Insulin was 17.1 and she said she wants it below 8 for me to conceive. TIA!!

Welcome! I'm new too.

I used vitex along with Metformin for 3 months. I only stopped taking the vitex because I started Provera. (Can't take it with Progesterone). As soon as I finish with clomid, I will probably start back on it.
I read tons about vitex before actually starting it. It works slowly so they suggest giving 6+ months to start seeing resluts.
After 3 months, I did notice that my skin was really smooth and clear. It didn't jump start AF thus the provera.

Sounds like they want to see if it works for you before prescribing the higher dosage. Word of advice, watch the carbs on Met. That is what causes the really bad s/e.

I too am on my journey TTC #1 so hopefully we will be a good support for eachother.

Take Care,
