Ok....since the other thread wasnt used too much. Im starting another. Fresh start....Fresh Thread!

I 'officially' am starting my Weight Watchers today. Ive weighed in. Ive already counted points.

Ive got my walkin shoes on for when I walk on the treadmill later.

So I weighed in this morning...and for all of you that tell me not to be so hard on myself...well I should.....I weighed in at a whopping  298!!!!!!!!!!!
I weighed 261 prepregnancy. And after I had Porkchop I got down to 260.
It blows my mind how fast Ive have packed this weight on. I am embarassed to tell you my numbers..but I have to....I should be ashamed of myself. So every week when I weigh in..you will know my numbers.

So so far....Ive had...

Water-0pts.
Banana(big)-2pts
Creamer(for coffee)-1pt

Starting weight- 298
First goal-30 lbs.

Okay -- I'm in too.

I'm not sure of my weight right now, but will check today at the gym and let y'all know. I'd like to lose the "10%" that is supposed to kick your metabolism in the a$$ and see if I can battle pcos a bit better before ttc again. And, honestly -- to again be a "smokin hot momma". Or, my DH's terms -- MILF!!

Probably looking at a 15 pound loss as a gain.

CONGRATS LADIES!!

I was really freaked out when I got pregnant because if I gain the 25-30# for pregnancy I will be in the 250-260 range. I lost 14# with Hannah. My friend was telling me to do WW while preg they had a plan just wondering if you ladies knew? How many points are you allowed a day? But as soon as this baby is born its going to be a serious weight loss plan.

lisamarie
08-29-2006, 11:37 AM
I dont see anything in here for Pregnant women..but for nursing moms...If you weight 200-224 you get 36pts....if you weigh 225-249 you get 38pts..if you weigh 250-274 you get 40pts.
Im sure you could ask your doc about it and it would be fine. But ya never know with docs. lol

Tracy-hehe MILF....that reminds me..I need to post about Hannah on the other thread.

Okay.. I'll try to pop into this thread as well. I started back to a more serious effort this week. As soon as I'm done posting here I'm taking the dog and Justin to the park for a morning exercise stroll. Hubby and I have started doing this three times a week, but he has a retirement cerimony (sp?) he has to narrate for this morning so it's just me and my little boys.

Anyhow....on top of that I have started trying to watch portions again, and trying to cut back on sugar. I know there were a couple of days there that I was craving sugar WAY bad! My first goal was just to get below the 230lb range and I did that yesterday, despite AF! Yesterday I was 227.5... up to 229 today but that is okay. I do weigh in every day, but I don't get upset about a couple of pounds difference day to day either....this way though I know I am catching all my lows and base my progress on those and just ignore the highs mostly. Otherwise, I don't have any diet plans. Would love to try a WW but we are counting every penny so that's out. My main goal is to get below 200 again... then I will go back to the endo to get put back on the Met hopefully.

I wanna be in on the fun :D Can I be here as a motivator? I'm a healthfood nut & a workout freak and I'd love to talk ww and workouts, etc...thought maybe we could start a thread with yummy ww recipes too - I've made many of their dishes that are really yummy & easy for us Mommies. I just need to get some of them together & start the thread.

Ok, I want in on this. DH called me fat the other night in an argument, and although he said he said it b/c he knew it was the one thing he could say that would hurt me the most and how he did not mean it, it hit me really hard.

Preadoption: 170
Post Adoption: 195
Now: 190

Goal: 150

Jamie, I would love for you to help out. I work full time, travel 45 minutes one way to work, in grad school monday nights and wednesday afternoons, and have three kids....HELP...I need motivation....and to get up on time to get to the gym in the morning instead of staying in bed for an extra 20 minutes.

JAMIE
08-29-2006, 02:35 PM
Tracy - are you going to try and go to the gym in the morning prior to work and are you still doing the Southbeach diet? Ugh...men can be so insensitive sometimes...sorry he said that you were "fat" but I'm sure he didn't mean it - they just like to get under our skin sometimes...well at least my DH does - he can be a stinker like that.

Jaime-Yeahhhhhhhhh you can motivate us! I would LOVE good recipes and easy at that! Thanks!

Tracy-Umm...I wont even go into detail what I think of your dh for saying that. All I can say is my dh wouldnt have his teeth. The next time he does that sh!t you should make fun of the size of his d!ck! Sorry if too personal..but that down right p!sses me off that he would say that...too childish.

THANKS LISAMARIE! What an excellent idea! Okay, y'all, no one knows how much I weigh and here I am posting it on the web!
Is it possible to do WW and low-carb? I am not offically starting my diet until Monday cause DH's family reunion is this weekend and there is no way to diet up there! So here are my stats and I am so humiltated by them!

Highest Weight: 347 (JAN 05)
Prepregnacy Weight: 318 (APRIL 05)
9 Months PG: 338
1 Month Post-Partum: 320
Current: 326

Don't think bad of me because I am so big. I am so ashamed of myself!

Oh, Tracy, tell your DH that he has a small weiner! I am sorry, but that was so cruel! What a putz!

lisamarie
08-29-2006, 02:49 PM
LOL...Krissy...I said the same thing.

We wont think bad of you for your weight!

Last time I did WW ..I tried the high protein as well..I just stayed within my points.

I think any diet is a good as long as it works for you. I know WW worked for me...I bought this stuff two years ago so I have all the stuff.

If anyone wants a point finder thing I can run on off and send it to them. Thats what I did for my mom. Its hleps count points for you. Just pm me your address.

08-29-2006, 02:55 PM
Oh, Tracy -- I'm so sorry Dh said that to you. Does he not realize that you're a busy mother and may not have hours per day to exercise -- on top of pcos!?!

Maybe you can use his comment as a motivator. :D Lose some weight and when he decides how amazing you look, you can indulge yourself or tell him to kiss your SKINNY a$$.

Sorry that was mean...pms got the best of me.

I am back for a sec -

Lisa - How do figure out how many points you can have a day?

JAMIE
08-29-2006, 03:14 PM
Here is an AWESOME site that I've referred to many times. It has a link for great ww recipes and more importantly the point counts for practically any restaraunt you can think of www.dottisweightlosszone.com

lisamarie
08-29-2006, 03:16 PM
You figure the calories..the fat grams and the dietary fiber. Then you use this slider thing and it tells you how many pts.

For your weight you are allowed...32. And I would go with that points value. In order for you to lose weight the right way you need to go with your points value.

So glad we have this thread. It is motivating. i have more time for these quick posts than going and doing personals for 20 people. The only time I can get on teh net (especially with DH gone) is at work or late at night and lat eat night usually does NOT work for me!

tracyrhymer1979

LM: How funny. I actually did point that out to him. I told him saying that to me was like the "unforgiveable curses" in Harry Potter, and how would he like it if I let me anger get away from me and told him his penis was tiny and unsatisfying. He did not like that one tiny bit.

He has been begging for forgiveness ever since then. But I will never forget he said it to me.

Krissy, we could NEVER think badly of you....You are so sweet!!!

Jamie, no, we stopped doing the South Beach thing, DH said it was too hard. Its so hard to cook healthy when you have three little ones who refuse to eat veggies...TJ went three days without eating b/c he refused to eat his vegetables two weeks ago.

OK. I am in for now. Hopefully fairly soon I will be pregnant again though. I need some motivation to eat well now thoguh so that I can eat well while I am pregnant. I am bound to have GD again. Plus, who knows how long it could take for me to be pregnant again so why put it off?

Highest weight: 195
Prepregnancy: 170
End of pregnancy: 175
Post pregnancy: 160
Current weight: 155
Goal: 130

Hopefully I won't be here long enough to safely lose 25 pounds because I will be pregnant sooner but I would like to work on losing it steadily. I am working on weight training right now. I have cut out soda completely and I am slowly working on cutting out most simple carbs. I did really well with a limit of 100-150 grams of carb a day and keeping those carbs complex. I have not done this since I have had Leata so I need to get back to doing this. It worked really well for me in the past and I think it will work again if I get motiviated!

Did a two mile walk yesterday.. but then didn't do so hot with the eating later *sigh*.

Just got back from our walk again this morning. Had to stop short because I got a blister... but so far I've been good on eating. Small bowl of Total Raisin Bran and some cantalope. Now comes the hard part. Hubby is asleep, so I have to keep myself out of the pantry for 8 hours except for lunch. This is the time of day that really tests me the most. I got a ton of dishes to do today though... and then I get to start prepping for painting this weekend so maybe I can stay busy enough I don't think about it so much.

Drink lots of water too cuz that will give you that "full" feeling - I find that diet pepsi helps me when I get hungry cuz then I'm all hyper and I do other things & forget about food but that's just me?

Cheryl - awesome job on the walking!! I'm off work tomorrow so I think I might take Aiden for a walk at the park or around the mall...not sure what I'm going to do just yet.

LM - what are the free point items you're eating...have you tried the ww ice cream pops yet...they're AWESOME!! and those little fudge brownie cakes & chocolate muffins that are boxed...they are so good and I think the cakes are like 1 point

lisamarie
08-30-2006, 03:08 PM

I want to join! Although I don't have the go ahead from my dr. yet to exercise, hopefully when I go back in a month for my appointment. Before I got pregnant I was still trying to lose what I had gained and trying to figure out how much of that was pcos related. My highest weight ever was back in 2001 which was 300 pounds. Then I dropped down to 160 pounds over the next 18 months. By Nov. 2005 I was actively trying to lose weight when we learned I was pregnant! I weighed 226 pounds. I'll use that as my prepregnancy weight.

Prepregnancy weight - 226lbs.
Day I checked into hospital to be induced - 257lbs.
Today, 16 days after delivery - 235lbs.
Goal - 180 lbs.

Good job Tracy!!!!

I havnet been as full force as Id like. But I have had one sick kid this week who will NOT sleep..hence Im typing this at 430 in the morning. And Porkchop was grumpy earlier this week due to shots...sooooooooo. Ive been eating decent. Better than I was eating before but not as good as I could. Ive pretty well stayed in my points range..give or take a few. I added up the other day...what a pts total would be for a normal day for me..and it was like 50!!!!! Geez...no wonder I piled the weight on. lol

I haven't even started trying to be good yet. Tomorrow we are going out to eat with friends so I just decided that I will wait until the long weekend is over and then start being good. I am going to plan out my meals exactly for next week and try to stick to that. It is the best way for me to be good. I will get my friend to go on a walk with me on Sunday so that will be good. We will be doing yardwork on Saturday and that will also be good. If nothing else Iwould really like to maintain my weight but I really would like to lose too. I just need a kick in the pants.

btw: I too, like Jamie will be more than happy to help anyone who has questions about working out, strength training, etc. Even though I can't do it right now for myself helping others does get me motivated to want to get myself there. And I'd love to have all of those seminars/classes I took to work/train at the gym not go by the wayside after I've had a baby!

Can I join early too??? I don't know how soon after delivery you are allowed to start losing weight but it is on the top of my priority list. I'm tired of being fat and I don't want Dylan to grow up being fat because of the lifestyle that DH and I are living. I have GD now and I totally hate diets that restrict what I want to eat. I have completely cut out soda (BIG thing for me) already but don't want much more restrictions than that. Have any of you lost weight purely by limiting quantity and frequent excersize? I guess I will tell you all my stats after I deliver but can someone tell me when I can actually start trying to lose weight (excersize and limiting quantity)? BTW, I plan on BF exclusively, God willing, I don't want to, or know if I can even afford to, buy formula. THANKS!!

Krissy..I sent your stuff Saturday! SOrry it took longer...but with two sick kids I had a hard time. I hope it works for you!

I dont weigh in till tomorrow. I dont think I lost any. BUT I only half a$sed tried. Shame on me. I did do alot better..but not as good as I would have liked. But thats ok......I cant go all strict on myself rightr from the start....this week..I'll do better. Easssssssssse myself into it! hehe

09-05-2006, 09:43 AM
Melanie - I would definately wait to start losing weight if you are BF - at least a couple of weeks to get your supply up etc. It will be stressful enough to BF w/o added pressure of weightloss.

I start officially today as in my first weigh in - this weekend was bad for dieting!

tracyrhymer1979
09-05-2006, 10:33 AM
I walked one mile this morning and decided to cut out soda to three 12 ounces a week. I only drink diet soda, but i am going to cut it out. And no more fast food but once a week. Told the kids that their days of McDonalds were over......They were okay with it.

Weight this morning: 190

mara232
09-06-2006, 08:42 AM
So I did very very bad last night. I waited too long to eat so i could not stop eating! I need to make a menu plan for the week and then go shopping. I find it is the only way to stick to program. Hopefully I get a chance to do that at work today.

mara232
09-06-2006, 08:44 AM
Tracy - I think limiting soda will help. I am back on the no soda kick. The sweetener in it surges the insulin just like sugar does so it isn't good. I was doing so good about no pop until recently. I need to stick my water once again - I personally think not having pop makes a HUGE difference in increasing my weightloss!!

Where are the rest of you dieting moms!?

tracy
09-06-2006, 09:08 AM
Personally, I've hit a plateau. Weight is not budging, particularly that pesky abdomen fat. I work out every day (ran/walked 3 miles yesterday), but it's not doing much. I'm hoping the cinnamon-things starts to help, otherwise -- my only diet option is to ultra low carb. That tends to only last temporarily, though. We'll see...I only have about 15 pounds (maximum) to lose, so this must be that hated "last few pounds".

Am starting an abs workout each day, so hopefully I can melt some of it away before the holidays hit.

Yoga today!!

I saw another mini-article in Better Homes & Gardens and wanted to share. Not sure if it's true or not, but it's certainly interesting. Here 'tis:

The smell of bananas may actually curb your appetite. Along with vanilla, green apples, and peppermint. In a study of 3,193 overweight people, those who were told to sniff these foods when they were hungry lost, on average, 5 pounds a month over 6 months. In a different study, sweet scents (ie. chocolate) were found to have the opposite effect: they trigger hunger, which can lead to overeating. One possible reason neutral smells suppress your appetite is that they act on the satiety center, the part of the brain that tells the body when to feel full. So, next time you're tempted to snack -- try a sniff instead!!

mara232
09-06-2006, 09:52 AM
Interesting Tracy! About the abdomen fat I hear ya. When I did Southbeach for those two weeks my stomach dropped! I was amazing! I know it is due to the whole IR/carbs issue that I have my pooch.

tracy
09-06-2006, 10:31 AM
Yeah, Mara...it really sux. Other than my "pooch", I'm basically satisfied with my body. Since I've been working out, my legs, butt, hips have gone back to "normal", but the stomach doesn't move.

So, now I have to wear bigger pants to fit my waist appearing that I have no a$$ at all. If I could atleast get everything to "one" size, I'd be better off.

I am working on getting my life organized so that I can eat my lower carb diet. I haven't been eating terribly but I haven't been as good as I could be either. With Leata being sick it is kind of hard. I need to start working on getting my exercise in too. I have been doing a lot of work on the yard so that has been exercise though. I need to get into a routine though and just do it. I need to get off the computer when dh gets home and on to my bike. I need to use weights and do sit ups. I will feel so much better if I do this. so for now I am still 155. I would really like to get to 135.

09-06-2006, 04:27 PM
I am down another 2 pounds! WooHoo! This is going to make me feel so much better when I get clearance from my dr. to be able to exercise again. Hopefully by then it will be cooler here and I can put Mason in his stroller and we can go for a walk!

MilitaryMom
09-06-2006, 05:27 PM
Okay.. I'm down two more pounds from my previous post (227 now). Hubby and I have been doing REALLY good walking and/or jogging in the mornings as much as we can. Going a minimum of 2 miles each time but most days getting up to 3 miles. On average we have been going for an hour to an hour and a half. The hardest part about this is about half way through our walks Justin decides he wants to be carried and neither of us can carry him for very long distances. I would love to find a good carrier that would take some of that strain off but it has to be VERY cheap and something that won't overheat both Justin and whoever is holding him since we are exercising.

We're also doing a lot better on not eating out so much. It helps that we can't afford to right now also... though I wish that wasn't as big of a motivator as it is. I'm not sure how terribly healthy the meals I have been cooking have been but I try to make sure there are plenty of veggies for us both and for my part I try to make the veggies the main part of the meal with whatever meat as the secondary.

So far though I am reasonably happy with our progress... we are enjoying the walks a lot and I've been really trying to watch portions and not snack after lunch (my devil hour!). My goal right now is to be at 200lbs or less by Christmas....so 27lbs in about 14 weeks. Gotta remind myself of that sometimes when I get distracted.

hmm.. Thanks Lisamarie & Mara - I will keep that in mind... If i don't change my eating habits this weight will come back. Darn its been nice losing and not watching what I eat. But Gabi has now made it so I can't eat chocolate so that will help! Yes we discovered that she was having bad gas problems when I would eat chocolate! So I really have no choice on that!!
DH said all three of us should take a walk in the evenings when he gets home. So that should be fun.

I am scared to weigh in on Monday. I did not accomplish my goal of journalling. For next week I will "journal" what I eat. I will also do 30 min each night on treadmill or take A for a 30 min walk!!!

No more weight loss here... in fact I may have gained back two pounds but this has been a hellascious week so I'm not being too hard on myself. Also, last night all my clothes were dirty and I had to get something decent on so we could show the house to some prospective buyers.... so I gave getting my smaller pre-pregnancy jeans on... and they fit again! YAY!! Still walking every other morning when the weather is good with hubby, Justin, and the dogs and we're really enjoying that. Hate that winter is coming and will be too cold then. Hopefully the house will be sold by then though and I'll have access to my treadmill again... or there will be a gym at the apartments. We'll see.

Remember if you are working out also that you may not see a change in the scale because muscle weighs more than fat so you need to watch how your clothes are fitting and go by actual measurements than pounds.

Alright, DH and I strarted South Beach diet today. We have modified it so the kids can get some carbs, but we are not eating any of the carbs. Also bought a trampoline last night, (which contributed a trip to the emergency room for DH)....Almost took his pinky finger off trying to put the stupid thing together.

Hold me accountable ladies!!!

I'd like to join this thread! I need a lot of motivation, I feel so miserable being this overweight.......I can hardly do anything. The South Beach Diet is what worked for me in the past, but I'm afraid I had success with it due to taking Metformin at the time. My OB did not want to prescribe it since I said I was breastfeeding (the baby would latch on for about 10 minutes and only on one BB, I don't know why I said I was). Hopefully I can start this diet tomorrow (or here shortly).

Pre-pregnancy : 145-150 (not sure)
Pregnancy : 191
Post-pregnancy: 170
Currently : 179

I am up to 157 from 155 so not doing to great with this whole losing thing. I need to be better. If I am pregnant it will be different but I still need to eat as well as I can. I guess the ice cream and Chinese food yesterday didn't help. The cake tonight for my sister's birthday will not be helpful either.

Did I tell you guys about my scale issues???

Over the weekend I got on the scale and it did say I lost 3lbs. Which is probably because I didnt eat much over the weekend...But dh got on the scales when I was brushin my teeth and he said.."when I went to the doc last week....their scale says ours is 6lbs off...too much." I was so Freakin excited! He said he is 6lbs heavier at home than he was on the docs scale. So you think I hsould go by what the docs scale said and subtract 6lbs from what I THOUGHT I weighed? lol

Ok, so I am being pretty good these days. I am down to 154 and I have been exercising a lot more. This morning I was on my stationary bike for half an hour and this evening we are going to do yard work which is a great workout too. Then we might go for a walk. I need to keep motivated!

So I got the all clear from my dr. to resume all activities, just be careful about how much lifting I do. So what have I done since getting the all clear and the weather has started to cool off here? NOTHING, I've even been sleeping later. *sigh*
