I've heard that PCOSers who take Met XR don't see as much weight loss compared to people taking regular Met - has anyone experienced both of these medications? I'd like to hear about your experiences.
I took regular Met but had symptoms worse than most people I've read about (i.e.-sweaty palms, shakes, unbearable nausea-couldn't even go to work one day b/c it was so bad). So I took 1500 Met XR for almost a 1.5 years but it seemed like it did nothing for my PCOS. Should I have been taking more????

RE-

I can't speak of the regular Met as I've only been taking Met since April. I take the XR version and only 500mgs a day. As of last Friday I had lost 35lbs, which I attribute to the Met. I never lost more than a pound or two before. I also went on South Beach at the same time to try and avoid any side effects and so far I haven't had any...unless I eat something like a piece of cake (couple bites doesn't bother me).

I can't say why the Met didn't work for you or if you needed more, but the side effects on the XR are suppose to be less, which may help you tolerate it and be able to focus on other ways to improve your symptoms.

As far as helping with your symptoms what were you doing besides the Met? Diet, exercise, any other meds?
