After leaving my doc's office a few weeks ago, I realized that besides rocking my world with a tentative diagnosis of PCOS, she really didn't instruct me in any direction other than to lose weight. I keep reading posts about Cinnamon and Fish Oil and others, and I was wondering if those would be good for me? I don't want take anything unhealthy, so I was wondering if you all got the go-ahead from your docs or found the vitamins and such on your own?

im new to this pcos and i have been put on metformin which has been making me feel so sick. i am taking all the vitamins i would normaly take to feel healthy like multi vitamins, minerals, cod liver oil and b 12 or 6 cant remember lol but the best thing i have read so far is a book called PCOS DIET it explains all about foods, good, bad and most importantly WHY. it also explains about supplements and how to get them from foods or which ones to buy from the shops. i have found this book to be more helpfull than anything else.
wishing you lots of luck

I am curious too. I am new here... just got here a few minutes ago actually. LOL
I can't take hormones like birth control pills to help. I am on metformin, but I keep reading all these signatures and such that say cinnamon... what is the cinnamon about? I love cinnamon! LOL If it would help in any way, I would be thrilled!
If someone could explain what it is for... I would really appreciate it.

I don't know that much about Cinnamon but I know it's supposed to react in the same way as the Metformin but in a gentler form. I know a lot of ladies on here are taking both. I was taking just Cinnamon for awhile and then got put on Met so I stopped the Cinnamon until I adjusted so that my blood sugar didn't drop too low. If you search for Cinnamon in the forum, you will see tons of posts about what it does for you!
Good luck!

I tried cinnamon and it didn't do anything for me. I'm on 2,000 MG of metformin a day. I lost 60lbs in the beginning (5 years ago), but have gained about 30 of that back. Past two years have been a standstill for me, ugh.

Have any of you on Cinnamon had ovary pains? I don't know if that's what they are, but just pains around the ovary area, lower abdominal area. It's not Oing pains or AF pains. I'm not sure if the Cinnamon is helping or not, but this pain is different. Any ideas?

i brought it from my local book shop called BOOKS ECT it has a web page on the back of it called THORSONSELEMENT.COM you could try there but it is worth taking time and looking in the diet section of your local book shop.
it also says on the back 'writen by women with PCOS for women with PCOS.'
which can only be good as you learn best through experience.
hope iv been a help to you
