:( I have just been dx with PCOS. My OB put me on Loestrin 24 FE BCP. I have been fighting acne for about 4 years now. (I'm 34) After being on the BCP for 4 days, my face went from only 1 or 2 pimples to about 25 pimples. Has anyone else had this same experience using this BCP? I called my OB and told him that I wasn't gonna continue with this BCP and he gave me Yaz to start

My symptoms with PCOS is: Acne, Hair loss/thinning, Cysts on Ovaries, increase in cravings for carbs and sugar and endometeriosis

My OB was just like...take this BCP and you don't really need to make a follow up appt any time soon.

I just made an appt with and Endo doctor.

If anyone has any of the similar problems and I have stated please help with any advice

Hi Tap, and welcome to the boards!

Unfortunately, you posted in an administrative area, where not a lot of people look. You might want to re-post in one of the other boards, perhaps the General Discussion Board? If you look there, you should also see a FAQ's, which has a TON of information about PCOS, including about the very strong link to Insulin Resistance. In fact, over 80% of us Cysters have some form of IR, and treating the IR seems to have a direct effect on PCOS symptoms, too! Long-term use of BCP's has also been linked to worsening of metabolic issues, so it's a good thing that you made the appointment with the endo!

As for me, I have acne, hair thinning, facial hair, ovarian cysts, weight gain (that NEVER wants to come off!), crazy cravings (even the SMELL of sugar can set me off!!!), IR, and I'm hypoglycemic (get low blood sugar). I cannot tolerate BCP's, so I don't take them. I take Metformin 1,500 mg/day and I try to stay as active as I can, although right now I'm in school, so I'm sitting a good portion of the day and doing homework at night. I also try to eat in a way that keeps my blood sugar and insulin levels more even throughout the day. I find that really does help to keep things on a more even keel, and my symptoms do tend to get better! I'm almost ready to graduate, so I'm looking forward to having more time to spend on being active and maybe even losing a few more pounds!

Take care, HTH!!! :)
