Is clomid a bcp? If so, is it stronger and/or better than other ones?

No chlomid is a fertility drugs that assists your body in ovulation, and therefore helping you to get pregnant.

Nope as gatorgirl said it is a fertilty aid in helping us ovulate. Usually when you are ttc that is the first ovulation drug given.

Oh, ok. My doctor gave me bcp called loestrinfe24, and I have had visits from AF every month since i've been taking them. She said to take them for a year and then go back to see her to see how I am doing. If I want to ttc next year when I am done with them and it doesn't work out, then I should ask if I can get on clomid? I'm afraid that I will have to take some medication for the rest of my life in order to have AF...is that what happens usually, or does it regulate itself after being on medication and changing lifestyle?

Usually the first form of treatment is metformin or gluchophage. That treats the underlying cause of the pcos (insulin resistance). It can take some time for the met to work though (in some cases up to 1 yr) and some dr want you to try that alone for a few months beofre adding in an ovualtion med usually clomid. So before asking for clomid, I would ask for met and see if that doesn't do the trick first.

Wow, I didn't know that. I've been on met for about four months now and I believe my doctor only gave me prescription for six. That's why I get angry, she never discussed options with me or explaine anything to me. I know I should have asked a lot of questions too, but when I went I was suspicious that I had this and was just afraid...like I said before, I have no support from my family and alone at the clinic I didn't even remember the questions that I had in mind for her. The more I find out, the more I want to know and the more questions I have. I'm going to call her tomorrow during my lunch, because I don't even have an appointment or anything. I think i'm going to have to get another doctor because I have felt that she didn't help much except for giving me thd dx. The thing is that now she is my primary doctor and I don't know if I can make a switch. Anyway, thanks a lot for your feedback. ;)
