I've been diagnosed for two years with PCOS. I live in Roanoke Virginia and It just seems like no one know what to do with me. they put me on Birth control pills and that's it. My docor didn't even know hhair loss was symptom of PCOS. I don't know what to do, but i need help b/c i really want to have children, and it's like i have this horrible thing that only i have. I was just wondering if you found a doctor. and why do individuals with PCOS go to an endocrinologist?

Hello, I haven't found another endo. yet but my gp has been very helpful. The reason that most women with PCOS go to an endo is because usually they can help with infertility caused by PCOS also usually the endocrinologists are more familar with Pcos and how to treat it. I have been seeing Dr. Slackman in Roanoke. He is ok but he would not put me on anything but metformin for treatment because that is what he uses and doesn't seem to want to try anything else for me at least. The metformin made me very sick on the stomach and I could not tolerate it. The birth control pills were out of the question because I have been trying for 10 years to concieve and they would be counter productive. My regular doctor has put me on Avandia which is not giving me the side effects that the metformin did. So far so good with it. If you have any other questions let me know. I will try to help. Don't give up hope. Do research online. Get all the info that you can. Also my gp put me on spirnolactone for the hair loss. I am also taking Vitex and cinnamon suppements that you can find at GNC and the cinnamon you can get at walmart for $5 but talk to you doctor first about any and all vitamin supplements. If you want to IM me and you are on yahoo messenger look up purplepooki I am usually online at night. Good luck an know that you are not alone.
