What is your metformin dosage and how often do you take it during the day.
I take 2000 mg of metformin ER (extended relief) 2 pills in the morning 2 pills at night.
I am trying to find something that wont make me as sick. I have been on all different combinations over the past 3 years. I took avandamet which took away the diareah but caused vomiting. Please let me know your dosages and types of metformin. Whether it me extended relief or not. Or if anyone was on avandamet.

I have been on Metformin for around 6 months. I take 1 500mg tablet in the morning. Doctor won't up the dose as I have asked on serveral occassions as it does not appear to be doing anything for me.

Hi!
I take 2-500mg metformin Er in the morning and 2 in the evening(2000mg total). I've been taking this since March and its seems to be helping a little.
I've been taking metformin on and off for 3 years. The regular metformin gave me so much gastric distress and stomach pain that I didn't take it regularlyand basically saw no improvement with my health and weight. Once I switched to the ER it was great! I've lost some weight and no stomach pain at all!!!! My periods are still not regular, but they come more frequent than they ever have (about every 6-7 weeks as opposed to one a year).
I also take :100mg spironolactone daily.
:2000mg Niacin nightly for my cholesterol.
:an aspirin every night (to help combat the hot flashes the
niacin gives me)
: 3mg melatonin for sleep
I was diagnosed with PCOS 22 years ago, when it was called Stein -Levanthal Syndrome. The doctor who diagnosed me told me that it was a lifetime thing and that I'd never get pregnant on my own. No course of treatment or plan of action.
Years later, a doctor at( my then) HMO suggested I lose weight to get pregnant. It didn't happen and I was sent to a fertility specialist. After a couple of years on progesterone and increasing doses of clomid, I got my miracle baby. That was 13 years ago.
Now, my current GP (a woman) has taken an aggressive approach to learning about PCOS and is treating me with the above medications. I suspect she has PCOS also. She says she has 3 of us that she is treating. She started me on the metformin right as it was coming out that it would help. She's been to conference about it and everyting. I really like this doctor. She's straightforward, but not pushy.
Thats my story!
