I hope everyone is doing well and trying to stay as comfortable as possible!
Surprisingly, I passed my 3 hr GTT. I didn't pass with flying colors, but my dr was ok with my blood sugar levels. I went to the dr this morning because I'm having cramping and contractions that are 15 mins to 30 mins apart. My cervix is closed (thank goodness). I'm just going to have to stay hydrated and get as much rest as I can. I have an appt on Monday and he'll check my cervix again.
Now, I'm in panic mode because I need to do all of my lesson plans for my substitute when I go on maternity leave. I hope to make it to my due date, but if Avery comes before school starts, I need to be prepared. I'm kicking myself now because I haven't been doing a lot of school work these last 4 weeks. Oh well, I'll just do the best I can.

Happy July everyone! Our little one will be here this month! I cannot believe how fast time has gone by!
Tiger, I am glad to hear you passed your 3 hr GTT! What a relief. Keep drinking that water and rest so those contractions go away!
I have been having a few more contractions every day, but still nothing close together. My doc told me Friday to take it easy since she thinks I am going to go into labor soon if I don't. In a week I went from 1 to 2cm dilated and from 0 to 50% effaced. I still think the baby is going to take his or her time, but who knows! We have our appointment for an external cephalic version tomorrow, I am so nervous, but yet I can't wait. I really hope this works for us! Please keep us in your prayers that the baby turns!

Happy Happy July!! I love this month! Maybe it's b/c it's my birthday month - but i just love summer anyway and July is totally summer to me!
Tiger - Glad to hear that the 3 hour GTT went well for you. I hope the contractions stay away for you and that little ladybug of yours stays nice and cozy till you get everything finished up to with school that you need to do!
Honey - I have been thinking about you and your little one - hoping that your baby gets turned around the right way! Have you been trying any of the suggestions that people posted? I may have posted this before, but i was reading a book on the power of the internal & external maternal voice and that asking your baby to cooperate and do what you need them to do can help. Thinking positive "turning" thoughts, asking the baby to please turn b/c they need to be born that way, etc...like i said, i know it sounds kinda hokey, but it can't hurt to try! How is everything else going for you? Are the MIL issues better?
Lauren - I can't believe it is 60 degrees in Chicago! It is nice to be getting a break from the intense heat/humidity here in Mid-Missouri, but it isn't 60 degrees!
As for me - i have still been super busy! I am feeling kind of overwhelmed by trying to get things organized and cleaned up at home. I work all day, then come home tired with so much to do and really no help since DH works 6 nights a week. I try to balance my evenings out though - trying to take some time to relax, nap, read and then work on projects around the house. I had my first baby shower of three and got lots of great things! It was really fun! Everything with the baby is going well - moving and hiccuping all the time! We have our 2nd appt at the Birth Center tomorrow, so we are looking forward to that!
I can't believe the 4th of July weekend is almost here!! DH is actually off so we will get to spend some time together!! I'm so excited!

tiger-My motto- do the best you can with what you've got right now. I completely understand about the lesson plans. Are you at a year round school? I was just wondering why you had to do plans. I was VERY lucky and someone on my team really helped me get things together before the end of the school year so I have things ready for a sub when they walk in on August 24. I don't know how long I will be out though. Jsut get something ready- I thought subs really only needed a week or 2 of plans and then since they are long term subs they are supposed to pick up the planning. Is it not like that for you? Take it easy, congrats on passing the 3 hour!!
lauren- Can you belive this weather? I am going to take a nap soon- under the covers! It is a nice break from the 95 degree weather of last week!
honey- I hope your external version works for you. I have been thinking of you quite often since we have the same breech issue. Please tell me how it goes- what it felt like too if you don't mind. I am very curious.
sun- yay for showers! I saw your bump pics- you look great. What day is your b day? REmembe to take it easy at night. Maybe DH can help you with things around the house if you leave him a list? My DH works great with lists!
I can't believe I have 8 days or less left. I have my c-section scheduled for 7/9 if I don't go into labor first. I hope I make it until my date. One of my friends said to me that this is my last weekend not being a parent. Wow. Very scary!!

tryin' - OMG!!! I can not believe you almost have your little girl here!! That is so crazy to think that this may be your last weekend being kid free - ever!! I hope you and DH do something super fun together over the holiday weekend!! I keep telling DH that i would love for him to take an extra day off so we have a little more us time before the baby comes - but it is so hard to get him to do it! My birthday is the 11th - so you will be celebrating the birth of your little girl just shortly before then!! I love it!

I thought lastnight at 2am that we were going to have this little boy. Luckily the contractions stopped on their own. We have my husband's father's retirement party today. I would hate to be the one to make my husband (the only son) miss the party lol. I know I will not make it to my due date (over a month away Aug 7) If I do not go on my own next Thursday (the 9th) they will do an ultra sound (my boys were big and they were early) and talk about induction. I am soooo ready for this little boy to be here.

Hi guys, I can't believe how close it is getting! I went in to my doctor today. I passed my 3-hour GTT with flying colors, Yay! but my doctor is still concerned about my blood pressure, which is not too high but high enough he is worried I may develop preclampsia. I am also incredibly swollen, so that can be a bad sign, though he said it may just be that I naturally retain more water than most. I had to get some wrist braces today because I have pregnancy carpal tunnel due to all the swelling. I also think my baby is just not very active, her movement has picked up some but its nothing like alot of people describe, more like feeling a couple movements every few hours or her bunching up somewhere and putting pressure on my pelvic bone or my ribs. I have not experienced a really hard kick yet, but maybe in a few weeks I will.
I am also in a really good mood because my husband comes home today, and a bad mood at the same time, because the deck on our house is being rebuilt and even though it was suppose to be done last week, it is still only halfway and I just found out they wont be finishing soon, so I have no deck for July 4th. Those guys also have just been not showing up and they didn't bother to tell me, so i had to track them down. They say they don't have enough wood, but there are a few huge stacks sitting outside my house, so the least they could do would be to finish with what they got while they wait for the rest. I hate this area, nothing gets done in a timely fashion and peoples customer service skills just suck.
Tiger- grats on the GTT, sorry to hear about the contractions, I hope they go away for a bit.
honey- I hope your baby turns, are they gonna turn it internally if it doesn't happen soon?
sunchic- I know how you feel with not enough time with the husband, mine has been gone more than a month, he will be home for about a week then has to leave for a week for some aircraft school. At least at the end of the month he will be on leave, but then I have to share him with his parents.
trying- its so exciting how soon you will be a mommy, can't wait to hear about the birth and see pictures of your little one.

Sunchic, I tried that method, and it didn't work. I tried everything except chiropractors and moxabustion. Nothing works!
Tryin, you are so close! I cannot believe it. It looks like DH and I will be having our little one very close to yours!
Lauren, I hope it warms up over there!
Shy, I hope that baby comes for you soon!
Needless to say, the external version did not work for us. Our little baby's butt and legs are lodged deep in my pelvis and may be engaging so they couldn't get it to budge at all. Tryin, it hurt a lot! They said the worst part is trying to get body parts out of the pelvis and they were right. It felt like being stabbed...but I am pretty good with pain and just stayed focused on the curtains in the room (i need a focal point) and breathing. It only lasted a few minutes (they usually can tell within the first minute if the baby will turn or not) They give you a drug to relax your uterus that makes you really jittery and makes you feel like you drank way to much coffee. It was interesting....So now it looks like we are going to have to schedule a c-section. I am really bummed, but at the same time, the cord was getting really close to the neck and my fluid is getting lower, so it sounds like a c-section is the safest thing for the baby. I really wanted a natural drug free birth, but this little one has different plans I guess. I will get over it, it just sucks to have an idea of what you want and then have to go the route you really wanted to avoid.
Anyways, on a strange note, I started lactating today...anyone else have this happen? The nurse seemed really excited about it. She said it was great for that to happen to a first time mom before I go into labor, but to be careful because a lot of times that indicates that labor is soon to come....I hope not. If I have to have a c-section, I hope I at least get the benefit of planning when the baby will come! Tryin, do you know a lot about c-sections? I am wondering about things like getting a catheder and don't know how any of it works....
tigergal
07-02-2009, 09:38 PM
honey - Sorry that the version did not work. I can only imagine the pain, but it sounds like you handled it well. Although a c-section is not what you wanted, all that matters is holding that healthy baby in your arms. I know that everything will be okay. You're almost there!
tryin - Wow! Your baby girl will be here before you know it! July 9 is next week! Enjoy your last few days being kid-free! I do have a long term sub already lined up and she's going to do all of the grading for me. I just have to supply the lesson plans, etc. My school is not year round, but I'm very anal about my classroom. If all goes well, I'll be there for the first week of school and then start maternity leave. I do have two due dates, so I may be there for the first two weeks of school. My mother-in-law is coming next week to help me with my bulletin board, etc. I just want to get everything together in the event that Avery comes early and I don't get to return to school. I'll get it done.
sharon - congrats on passing the 3 hr!
shykat - I hope your little one holds on a few more weeks!
sunchic - My birthday is this month, too. It's July 5. I hope you and your hubby have a good holiday weekend.
Lauren - sounds like you have great weather! It's been 90 degrees here in Georgia for almost a month now. The heat and humidity are torture!
Hope everyone has a great 4th of July weekend!
tryin'4#1
07-03-2009, 08:24 PM
tiger- I know what you mean about being anal about your classroom. I am very worried about when I come back if it will just be chaos, however, I am learning to let go a bit.
sharon- I hear you about the carpal tunnel. I am just hoping it goes away soon after I deliver. It is very painful today for some reason. Are you wearing the braces at night only? I started wearing the right one during the day a while ago. Hope your b/p stays in check, but I am sure they are watching you.
honey- I am SO SORRY the version didn't work. I know you were really looking forward to a natural birth. I am taking it as you did- this little one has different plans than I did, so I just have to go with it. Do you know what type of breech he/she is? Mine is a complete breech which sounds like yours. Lactating? I dont' mean to sound dumb, but do you mean more than some collostrum beading up? What would you like to know about the c-section? Please feel free to PM me if you would like- I will check this website a few times a day to see if I can help you!! Yes, you will have a catheter, and you will have it even after the c section. Once you are out of Labor and delivery they may leave it in for a while. If you get it out, make sure you go to the bathroom soon- if you can't go, they will put it back in. I may just leave it in for a while- sounds gross, but I am sure there are many other things going on and I will not notice it much! Not sure what they will do at the hospital for sure though. My friends who have had c sections said to get up and walk ASAP- even just a little, and try your best not to lean forward, try to stay upright although it may hurt like heck! Hopefully your DH will stay with you so he can change diapers and such- don't know what condition you will be in to do this over and over at night. I am going to focus on the feeding aspect- I figure DH can change her. I just want to be able to breast feed her! When are you scheduled for?

Honey - I'm so sorry your LO didn't turn! I ended up having a C-section with Austin (not b/c he wouldn't turn...but b/c his HR was dropping every time I had a contraction). So if you have any questions, let me know!
I had a cathether until the next morning (I think) and that afternoon they had me get up and walk to the bathroom to go potty and to take a shower. (I had Austin in the evening around 8pm) With the epidural in, I couldn't feel the cath and when they took it out I really didn't feel anything then either.
But any ??'s just PM me! :) GL!!!!

Honey had her baby girl on July 4th. How cool! Congrats, honey!
All is well with me. I had an appointment on Monday and ladybug looks good. Since my 3 hr glucose test results were so close to me failing it, my dr is going to start doing NSTs starting at 35 weeks to monitor the baby. My contractions haven't gotten any stronger, as long as I stay off my feet.
I hope everyone is doing well!

I went to the Dr Tuesday and I am 2cm! But my mom and dad leave the country Sunday and will be gone for 2 weeks so I have been told that I cannot have this little boy till they get back. My dr said she cannot induce me till I am 39 weeks but that she can strip my membranes next week when I come for my appointment. Has anyone else had that done?
I spent most of the 4th on the couch and we cooked hamburgers on the grill and went and watched fireworks that our city set off. It was a relaxing day. Yesterday (Wed) My mom and I took my boys and my niece to see UP. It was a cute movie. Then we just hung out and swam some.

sunchic-how are you doing??
Well ladies I have a quick question. I am 34 weeks and when I went to my apt yesterday I was measuring 38 weeks already!! . Should I be worried? He is sending me for an ultrasound to measure her. He mentioned extra fluid around her possibly? Is that bad? I mean measuring 4 weeks bigger is a huge difference right?!?!?At my 32 wk apt I was measuring 34 but to go from 34 to 38 in 2 weeks when only gaining 2 lbs?!?!?!? Thats crazy!! Im wondering if I am going to have this little girl early?? I have my baby shower on Sunday so I cant wait!! Hopefully she will wait until the shower is over!! lol
shykat55
07-10-2009, 06:00 PM
I was measuring further along than I actually was but it was extra fluid and the baby is a little bigger than normal but not HUGE. As of this past Tuesday I am measuring closer to how far along I am. They did an ultrasound at 30 weeks to check on the baby and everything was fine. (also I have only gained a grand total of 4lbs this whole pregnancy)
Laurend0517
07-10-2009, 06:12 PM
4lbs?!?! wow I'm jelous!!
I was measuring 31 at 28 weeks (extra 3 weeks)and then at 30 weeks I was measuring 33 (extra 3 weeks still) and then at my 32 week I was measuring 34 (only plus 2 weeks) Now at my 34 week I'm measuring 38!!! So I have always been at least +2 weeks but to be plus 4 weeks just bombards me!! My back has been hurting really bad to so I'm wondering whats going on........He said to expect an 8 lb'er because at 30 weeks she was measuring 3lb7oz.

hi ladies,
i have been lax on posting here, i know. much has transpired in the last 2 weeks. my baby shower was on 6/27 and it was awesome. i have developed the most awful lower back pain and general pelvic pressure/heaviness has kept me on the couch for the last few days. a routine OB appt. on monday yielded high BP, so i had to go back for a fetal stress test. everything turned out fine, no more high BP, and the baby's heartbeat was normal. i am trying to get some pictures scanned/loaded and posted, since they are so cool. i'll start with the 3 and 4-D ultrasounds i'd promised a while back.
the first 3 are her 28 week pics and the last one is a combo 32 week pic. i don't know how well you will be able to see it, but she is already a little drama queen with her arm against her forehead in the 3rd and 4th picture.

Hey everyone! Hope you are all enjoying the home stretch! I know I am totally ready for my little guy to be here!! I have been dealing with really bad calf cramps and braxton hicks for a couple of weeks now. The braxton hicks are not too bad but the cramps.... OUCH. I have gotten quite a few stretch marks, but hey I am totally ok for making it almost 7 months and only just now getting any. They are really low so hopefully the massive amounts of lotion are actually working. I am having a bit of a family issue... next month my aunt (who is like a TWIN to me born exactly a year before me) is getting married. She lives pretty far away so it will be an overnight trip to go to her wedding which I don't mind so much. What I do mind is that my family is making it an issue of where Jeff and I stay. Because we are not married my grandfather doesn't want us sleeping in the same house. He doesn't care that I will be 8 months pregnant and that I am an adult. His house, his rules.... Then my mom talks to him and he says Jeff can stay at his house too (origionally he was going to have to stay at my great grandparents house) but we cannot sleep in the same room, and one of us has to be upstairs and one of us has to be downstairs. I am like... UM HELLO... its not like he is going to get me even more pregnant in your house... not like I am gonna wanna do anything that pregnant anyways let alone in someone elses home. Then my mom has to go and defend him saying " well you wouldn't have this issue if you would just get married".... so apparently my entire family expects us to get married to go to a wedding... because they want to make it difficult and uncomfortable no matter where we stay. I understand they have beliefs and morals, but I am talking two nights at the most, and sorry but they should respect my decision to not get married when I am 7 months pregnant. My mom of all people should understand... she did that and to this day regrets it! She ended up divorced in a couple of years. Sorry for ranting and raving but this is just driving me crazy, and with a baby coming we can't afford a hotel room. I just hate to think I could miss my aunts wedding because the rest of my family is being crazy.
Oh renee my little guy had his hand up by his face during most of our 3d ultrasound too. We still got some great pics and it was so worth it.

Hi Ladies, just wanted to check in, since I am now "officially" in the 3rd trimester!
I have an appointment with my OB on Tuesday, and I'll have to take my 1hr. Glucose test. I'm pretty nervous about that!!!
Hopefully I'll have time to catch up and do personals soon, but it sounds like everyone is doing pretty well with their LO's.
Enjoy the rest of your weekends!!!

Becca- that seems really rough, although I kinda understand because my family is the same way. Before DH and I got married we would always have to sleep in separate beds when visiting my family. I thought it was silly because we were already having sex and I doubt anyone thought differently, though we weren't having a baby or anything. I learned to accept it though, I understand it was not about preventing us from doing it, but because they did not condone sex before marriage, and letting us sleep in the same bed makes the opposite statement. As long as they provided a place for both of us to sleep we didn't mind, a few days apart in separate beds wouldn't hurt. If it really bothers you maybe you have some other family or friends in the area you could stay with? I doubt you will get your grandparents to bend on their morals. I am not trying to upset you or anything but I think if you refuse to go to the wedding because you would have to sleep separately for a few days your family would see you negatively and not your grandparents, that's how my family would see it, silly as their rules may be. I hope you can get everything sorted out in a way that keeps everyone happy. As for getting married, I can think of a friend who I wish had dumped her son's father, but instead she married him because he was the dad, now she is somewhat miserable with him. I think marriage should be about you and your guy, not a kid.
mary and cristina- welcome to the third trimester!
I keep hearing about these third trimester ultrasounds, is that normal? I haven't gotten an ultrasound since my 20 week. I have another appointment at 32 weeks, but I never know what my doctor is gonna do. The most he mentioned to me was that after the 32 week then I would do a 34 and then every week, but nothing about what will happen at those appointments.

hey ladies! I just wanted to stop in and see how you are all doing, and wish all of you well since I am moving over to the Moms board.
Sharon, the ultrasounds vary by hospital. Around here they do a third tri u/s but where I am from they don't unless there is concern.
Welcome Msmary!
Everyone else, Hi and hope everything is going well!

Thank you Sharon, yeah I don't see them budging either. I know my family is going to get mad, but now they are saying we have to stay in a hotel no matter what. We don't have the money and so we probably will not go. I know that everyone is going to get upset but there is nothing that we can do about it and no one is going to help with the hotel. We would already have to pay about $100 in gas just to get there and back, and two nights in a hotel will run us another 150 which is a whole week of pay for me. I really think my grandpa just doesn't want me up there so he is trying to make it impossible now. We said fine we would sleep in seperate rooms as long as we are in the same house and they still said no. The only people that live in the area are my aunts, my grandparents and my great grandparents. My aunts dont have room at their houses at all because of other family members staying there already, my great grandparents wouldn't care but my mom insists on staying with them and thus creating no room for us there. So it looks like staying home.
I have a doc appointment in the morning. Hopefully everything is stil going good. I have been having a lot of rib pain lately and a lot of back pain. I also had a few braxton hicks again today. I hope they let me work a bit longer.

Well I just came in from the Dr.'s office and it looks like I'll probably be having a c-section, when it's time. It is "generally" performed with their office for twins, except if both babies stay head down until the end.... the only problem with that is that one of them may turn or flip during delivery of the other baby, and then I'd still need a c-section.... so we've elected to schedule one for 38 weeks (if I get there)!!!
I'm also going in now every 2 weeks for my regular OB visits and every 4 weeks to my High Risk for growth scans!!!!
I feel like all of a sudden this is going really fast!!!!

mary- How did your glucose test go? I am happy for you that bpth babies are growing well and that you are doing fine. My regular OB measures me telling me if I am on target or not - I was so far , but it doesn't do a growth scan for the baby.
For the last couple of days I had some back pain, some sciatica pain and some level of discomfort. I have my next appt next week and after that I will go every two weeks .
Have a nice week everybody!

I went to the Dr today and I am 3cm and 50%. I am ready for this boy to be here but my mom is out of the country for another week and a half. I kinda want to wait for her to be here for this one to be born but if he comes he comes. I am really tired today (been going for 12+ hours and no nap) and have had some contractions off and on. Wishing they would either go away or get regular.

Christina - The test went o.k. I was STARVING by the time they did the test, since you can't eat or drink anything after midnight... which also means they couldn't find any veins, and had to go in the back of my hand! OUCH!
I'll find out the results this week I think.
I'm pretty sure I only get a growth scan because of the twins. I go to a High Risk Dr. every 4 weeks, and now my OB every 2 weeks... Thank God I have off for the summers, since I feel like I live at the offices!
Shykat - It sounds like you are really close!!! I'll be thinking of you and praying for you! You must be getting so anxious and excited!

Tryin' - I've been thinking about you!! I haven't seen anything posted on here lastely and thought we would get to see your little one soon! I hope you and baby are doing well!
Becca - i hope you got everything with the family worked out. I'm sorry that the situation was stressful for you. Sometimes family can be the hardest to deal with!!
I've been busy trying to get things organized, arranged and cleaned up at home. Some nights are super productive, others not so much! I am so excited for the weekend, though, one of my best friends is in town for my friends shower this weekend and i haven't seen her in a year and a half! Everything with the baby is going great, also and we are super happy that we switched to the Birth Center - our midwife is really great! We started birth classes last Saturday and it was nice to get to see some other people going down the same path we are!
Hope you all have a great weekend!!

Hi ladies! I hope everyone is having a good weekend!
Welcome to the 3rd tri, mary!
Shy - You're so close!
Anyone heard from tryin? I'm sure she's enjoying her bundle of joy!
I hope everyone else is doing well.
I went to L&D this morning with contractions that were 7 minutes apart. I'm having intense back pain and pain in my groin. They gave me IV fluids and a shot of terbutaline to stop the contractions. It worked and the contractions are irregular now. My cervix is still closed. I have an appt on Tuesday and my dr is going to do an ultrasound to make sure the fluid level is ok. I'm super exhausted! I hope this ladybug stays put for a few more weeks!

hey ladies, I just wanted to stop in and see how everyone is doing! you are all getting so close.
Shy, that baby will be here so soon! I hope you are doing well!
Tiger, keep that baby cooking a little longer...but if she has to come out soon at least her chances of being just fine are really good!
Sunchic, I am so glad to hear everything is going well with the birth center. I really wished I could have had this baby naturally, but the breech thing put a damper on my plans and then my water breaking early really flipped things upside down. I hope your birth experience goes wonderful.
hope everyone else is doing well! I cant wait to hear all of your birth stories!

Hi everyone! Thanks for wondering about me- I just posted a thread with some pics- our little girl Leah Siara was born 7/9/9 @ 10:15AM. Everything went well, very uneventful, and now I am just getting used to being a mom and wondering how I am going to do it when my husband goes back to work!!
honey- nice to see your story!!
shy- Wondering when your little one will be here
msmary- CONGRATS on passing!
tiger- hope you will start feeling better and your little one does not make an appearance too soon!
sunchic- Sounds like you are doing well!
cristina- I wish I had taken more naps....now I really want one! Take all the naps you need!

Congrats, tryin! Leah is beautiful. Being a new mom takes some getting used to, especially the lack of sleep, but your body will adjust. I know you'll be terrific!

Just a little update.. Still having random contractions and last was checked was at 3cm 50% and that was last Thursday. I go back to the dr tomorrow. I am beyond ready. I have been having terrible back pain and hip/pelvic pain the last couple of days. I spent a good part of yesterday walking laps around the yard. Any other suggestions to get things going would be great!

Went to the dr today and am still at 3cm and 50%. I go back on Wed of next week and according to how big this little man is they are going to induce! After leaving the dr's office today I have not been feeling well. Upset stomach, back pain and have had to RUN several times to the potty. UHHG Hope everyone else is doing good!
shy- good luck!! You could be in the beginning stages of labor...many women feel like crap right before it all begins!

That is one thing I didn't have to deal with in my other 2 pregnancies. My water broke at 4am with my first and no contractions on my own they had to give me pitocin (sp?) and with my other I was induced at 38 weeks and so I have never gone into labor on my own. This time around has been so very different.

Shy-I also felt horrible the days before going into labor. The back pain, upset stomach, etc. Could be a sign!
Trying-Congrats on your beautiful little girl!
I think I'm officially in the 3rd trimester. I'm 27.5 weeks along. I'll probably have my repeat c/s at 39 weeks so I figure I've got 12 weeks or less to go. Crazy!

hey ladies! Glad to see everyone is doing well!!
Tryin-Congrats on the baby! Glad to hear it was uneventful! =)
shykat- Sorry to hear about the contractions! At least you are 3cm and 50%!! I got checked last Thursday and I have nothing!! I have been doing nothing but walking so this Thursday I better have made some progress!! My stomach is already measuring 40 weeks and I am huge and uncomfortable! And to top it off my dr doesnt want to induce until 42 weeks!! I wanted to cry!! I am still working but I am starting to swell up pretty bad so we are gonna reevaluate on Thursday. I might have to stop working and just rest.
zywoman- Congrats on being in the 3rd trimester!

Hi ladies! How's everyone feeling these days? My exhaustion level is at an all time low! Between the thyroid issues, anemia, and weight gain, I'm absolutely drained! The bad thing is that I have to go back to school next week! I have no idea how I'm going to make it being back at school. I guess I will try to sit down as much as possible, but that will be next to impossible during the first week of school. The good news is that my classroom is set up and all of my lesson plans are done. Sorry for the rant!
We set our induction date for August 24. The way my contractions are going, I don't think I'll make it till then!
Any news on shykat?
Lauren, sunchic - we're almost there!
Welcome to 3rd tri, zywoman!

Hey ladies! How is everyone doing? Hopefully those of you that are having stubborn little ones that don't want to come out will be successful soon. I hope your births go easy.
Well I just realized that I didn't post about my lovely sunday afternoon... Well I went into work and about 3 hours in started having contractions, then my legs got really swollen and started hurting so I went straight to the hospital. The nurses and doctor were amazing... my regular doc is on vacation so I had the on call. Well they monitered me and the baby for 3 hours and did a urinalysis and basically I have a horrible bladder infection and that is what caused not only the swelling but the contractions as well. I now have to drink an entire gallon of water a day and am limited to lifting under 10lbs. Fun times. At least I knowt the hospital I will be delivering at is awesome though.

Becca- I hope you don't have a repeat of those contractions anytime soon, I have been lucky and have not experienced any yet.
I went to the doctor today and got a bit of bad news. I have Preeclampsia, not too severe, or at least that is the diagnosis right now, but the doctor has me doing a bunch of tests, including a 24-hour Urine collection (soo annoying). I have to go in again on Monday, probably going to have to go in a lot at this point. This means of course that I am gonna be having this baby early, the doctor was saying they were hoping I could go to 36-37 weeks but I would not go all the way to my due date for sure. If I have the baby before 36 weeks I have to go somewhere else to do it because the Naval Hospital does not have the facilities to care for a premature baby. Hopefully the baby will be healthy and not need extra time in the hospital no matter when she is born.
Good luck to all the soon to be mammas. I guess I am one too, only 4 weeks, maybe less.

hi ladies,
sorry i have been MIA for a while. nothing earth-shattering, just trying to finish alot of stuff at work. today is my last day in the office, so it's been hectic. thankfully, the doc signed me out a little early so i can rest a bit and do last minute prep for baby. hopefully, she will not come over the weekend! :) i have been feeling pretty good - just very heavy and uncomfortable, but no contractions or anything like that. i'm at 38 weeks, so i'm wondering if she will stay put until 40 or after (?).
i just finally started to experience swelling in the feet and hands in the last week or so. this summer has been strange for the east coast for the most part, but the humidity is finally here and i'm sure that has something to do with it. i'm still under 25 pounds, as the doc ordered, but i wonder if some of the swelling is water retention, too. i try to drink alot of it. everyone keeps telling me that i don't look 38 weeks pregnant. when i post a pic, you guys can give me your opinion. i *feel* 38 weeks pregnant, if that counts!
we had our lamaze and breast-feeding classes at the hopsital. i think i'm as ready as i'll ever be. DH was slightly traumatized by the birth video (now in HD!), where they showed women going completely natural with no drugs screaming. um... i'm planning to have at least a shot of the stadol to take the edge off, so here's hoping for no screaming! lol!
i keep meaning to take and post some pics of my belly and the nursery (it looked like a carter's store blew up in there after the baby shower) and i'm almost finally done putting away all the packages so i can take some pics over the weekend. we went with Hello Kitty theme and it's so sweet it makes my teeth hurt.
to catch up with you all now...
sharon - sorry about the pre-ec. i had to do the 24 hour collection thing too a while back. i kept coming up with trace amts of protein in the urine, so the doc ordered that. turned out i didn't have it. but, i guess the bright side for you is that you are already at 32 weeks, so it won't be too much longer now. and, of course, as soon as you deliver, the pre-ec goes away. hang in there!
becca - ouch about the bladder infection. that can't feel too good, considering the baby is probably sitting on it at this point, as well. glad that the hospital you are going to is taking good care of you, though!
tiger - sounds like you are really exhausted. g/l with going back to school next week. hope youn make it to 8/24.
shy - wow, you could be having that baby any time now (if not already). every time i get a back ache or have to run to the potty, i think that this could be the start of labor. please keep us updated!
lauren - hopefully the doc signed you out already!
zywoman - the time is flying, isn't it?? i remember thinking to myself back in january, "oh, august is so far away!" and now it's here and it came so quickly.
msmary - hope you are hanging in there with those twins. will you have a c-section? do you know yet?
sunchic - any news??
sorry... can't go back any further.
talk later,
renee

Hi all you soon to be mamas!!
Sharon...I am sorry that you are having some problems with preeclampsia. I just wanted to encourage that if you do end up having the baby early that my little girl was born at 36 weeks and she was perfectly healthy. The doctors were all actually surprised when I told them that she was a month early. I hope that you are able to make it to at least 36 weeks and that your little one is as healthy as my little girl was!

Well I went to the dr on Wed afternoon and was 4 cm and 75% so she sent me on over to the hospital (her office is just down the road from the hospital) I got there and they got my IV going and at 6 pm they started the pit drip. I did get an epi even though I thought I would not (pit drip about killed me before I got the pain meds on board) At that point my contractions were right on top of each other and lasting almost a minute. They stopped the pit drip for a while and let me go on my own. Little Trey was not coming down good even though I was 10 and 100% The Dr got me to push and I pushed 3 times before she told me to stop. They had lost his heartbeat and when I pushed and his head came out they found the cord wrapped tightly around his neck. He was purple and blue and we were all scared. The dr got the cord off and they put him on O2 and in a few min he started crying a little. He was born at 11:52. When they lost his heartbeat they almost sent me for an emergency c-sec. It was very tense and scary. I did get to hold him for just a minute before they took him away to the nursery. I didn't get to see him again till 3am and I FINALLY got him and he took to bf like a champ! We got to come home this morning (though they were talking about me staying another day because it had not been 48 hours) I am a little sore and my back hurts some but otherwise everything is great and little Trey Anthony is WONDERFUL!

Sharon so sorry to hear about the pre eclamsia. I just found out today that my aunt not only has pre e but also placenta previa so they are talking about doing a cesarean at 33 weeks because of her placenta position and her age. They don't want to put her at risk of placental abruption. Hang in there girlie! Oh and still having contractions but they have eased up a bit and are less frequent now, only one every couple of hours. I don't think I am gonna make it all the way till the end of September. We shall see though.
Renee, it sucks to have swelling i hear you on that. Also the weather has been pretty crazy all over this summer. Here in cali we have been getting RAIN when it is 110 outside!! The rain is hot and the ground is dry in a matter of minutes. I wish I would have signed up for lamaze even though i am having a cesarean. I am kinda sad to miss out on all the birthing classes
AFM still trying to drink a lot of water. Dealing with a bunch of BS with mediCal. Apparently they found some account with 16000 in it that is in my name and under my social and they are using that to deny me any kind of aid (which means as of today I am uninsured). Problem is I never opened an account with the bank they are saying... the account was opened in TEXAS... and when I tried to contact the bank about it they are saying they have no record of ever having that account there but they are refusing to send me anything stating that i don't have that account. Monday i am going to have to investigate further. My caseworker said that if i can prove that i dont have the account or that it has been closed that they can continue trying to approve me but i have till next friday to do that. I WISH I had an account with 16000 in it just sitting there! I would be able to pay off all my debt and be able to live comfortably for a little while with that kind of money!
