Metformin and onstart of Menses

I just recently started taking Metform. This is my forth day on it. Only only the 3rd day I started my period. It was day 23 of my cycle and that is very unusual for me. I normally get my period on the 40th day and sometimes longer. Could the Met have regulated my cycle that fast? It seems so unlikely. :?

Hi there,

It usually takes 5-6 months of a high dosage (2000 mg Met/day) to get your system on track. I just got my first AF at 6.5 months of the higher dosage of MET.

However, since PCOS affects everyone so differently, it's possible that it affected you faster than most, but I'd definitely question it. Have you had any weight loss, etc.... or change any other habits? That's my guess as to what would've caused it. Talk to your doctor.
