Hi ladies! I hope everyone is doing well, especially those that are so close to meeting their babies!
My dr appt today went well. Our ladybug is doing great. My weight is no so great. I gained 7 lbs since my last appt three weeks ago! My dr didn't seem too concerned but I do have to do the 1 hr glucose test this afternoon. My BH contractions are more frequent now. I don't think I noticed them with my other pregnancies.
Have a good day!

Well, here I am. Due today and still no baby. DH took me around our camp roads last night in his Jeep - very bouncy - and we tried DTD Saturday morning and I've tried some spicy foods (lots of pepperoni - one of the perks of still being pregnant, eating whatever I want to) but no luck. The midwife stripped my membranes Friday, and there is still a lot of mucous coming out, but nothing. I'd really love to go into labor on my own before my appt. tomorrow at 3:15. If no baby by then, we're going to come up with a plan.

Hi Ladies! Happy June!!
I guess i am officially in the 3rd Tri, as well!! I can hardly believe that time has gone by so fast!! I had a really great appt last friday where i got to sit and talk with my doctor about any/all the ?'s i have about the rules/regulations with labor and delivery at the hospital we chose. There were some things that i am on the fence about, but for the most part she was very reassuring and kind in most aspects. I found also that unless you know and specifically ask if certain things can be done, they won't suggest it! I think i would still like to tour the birthing center and see what it's like, though, as well. I also had my 1 hour GTT and hope to hear soon that it went well.
Tiger - Here we are together just a day apart going into the 3rd tri! I hope you are enjoying the start of your summer with your son! Oh - and i also saw the name you picked for your little ladybug and it is so beautiful! I hope your 1 hr GTT goes well today!
Bailey - i'll be keeping you in my thoughts! Hopefully your little one will decide it's time to see mom and the world soon!! Good Luck!
Lauren - I don't know about you, but i need a couple more months!! ;) I have been so busy planning all kinds of other things that i need to start planning for the baby!! I always keep thinking, i have time, i have time - but not that much anymore!! Hope everything is going well for you!
I hope all is well for everyone else, also - especially the mommas due to deliver any day!! I'm so excited for you!!
Have a great week everyone!

Just pulling my post over from May...
bshawley, I hope that baby comes out soon!
Shykat, what a great deal on the bassinet and clothes...I love garage sales too, but haven't had a chance to attend any lately....
Welcome Tiger and Sunchic! You are joining us all in the home stretch now!
She's, Hopefully that pain goes away, otherwise maybe you will only have a few short days until you meet the little ones!
Today is DH's and my anniversary, but I have an exam tomorrow so we haven't really done much to celebrate. I am having one of those days where I am really emotional too, so I guess it isn't a bad thing that we aren't spending a ton of time together today.
We talked to my parents and his mom about what was going on with the baby and the possibility that I could be induced early and my parents were both really laid back about it. I told them I wasn't worried and that it doesn't seem to be anything urgent. I figured if it was, our U/S would be scheduled for sometime sooner than 3 weeks from now. Plus by the time we have that U/S we will be just shy of 36 weeks and if we would schedule an induction, I would imagine it would be for 37+ weeks. I don't know these things for sure, but it is my best guess. My MIL didn't take it so well. She made it seem like I was doing something wrong that the baby is small and now she wants to talk about planning and options and all of this other stuff. DH finally told her that we wont be making any plans until after the U/S. I loved him for that!
My Sciatica is really acting up today and i am in a lot of pain, which is getting really annoying. I hate feeling like I have to bail on things because I am in pain. My best friend had the world's easiest pregnancy, and she doesn't understand why I can't go on our regular walks anymore. I tried to explain it to her but she almost makes it seem like I am being a baby about it and making it out to be worse than it is. I wish it would just go away! My leg feels like it is going to give out on me when I put pressure on it, and the doc said to limit walking etc because my leg could give out and I could fall. Why don't people tell you that these things can happen when you are pregnant??????I had no clue until I started going through it myself....

Hi again ladies-- We haven't heard from Smogy in a few days--I was just thinking how she wanted to go a week early-this would be her week early!!! :) I'm headed up to our specialist's appointment. This is probably where they'll make the decision on when our c-section will be!!! I cannot believe how close to meeting our babies we are!
honey-hope that you had a nice anniversary. I'm glad that they are keeping up on you and your LO. :) I hope your pain is feeling better---seems like sometimes it is always something.
Jessi-hope you got great results on your 1-hour! :) Welcome to the 3rd trimester!!!!! The home stretch.
Bailey- man I've been praying hard for you! I was hoping that the LO would come on the exact due date--i'm still hoping that's what happened!!! :) Good luck at your appt. today.
Tiger - I hope that you are doing well. I don't quite know what BH feels like-I'm assuming I just don't have any I feel. The last nurse we talked with said that I may not feel them because of my uterus being so stretched out it doesn't feel contractions or any of the BH ones. I had a spurt just about 2-3 weeks ago where I gained some weight..but it was my first real weight gain in this pregnancy-so I didn't get 'the talk' but I haven't done any since.
Welcome Lauren--time will go SO fast at this stage....well it sure did for me. I can't believe that I'm any day now away from meeting our little ones.
Well-I'm about to leave for the appointment! I'm so 'dorky'--I have butterflies.. I'm so excited and so nervous because I know that soon the boys will be here and they have been wanted for YEARS! :) Alright-wishing you all a great day.

tigar-dont worry about the weight gain!! your pregnant! As long as the dr didnt say anything I dont think there is cause for concern!! I'm starting to get scared because I go to the dr every 2 weeks which means I get weighed every 2 weeks!! lol. So far I have gained 13 lbs. I am hoping it wont go over 20 but time will tell!! Lol
bailey-I hope your LO comes soon! I hope you had good news at your apt today! =)
sunchic!!! welcome to the 3rd trimester!! I cant believe how fast we got here! I remember just finding out what we were having like it was yesterday!! lol. Which BTW I am PRAYING that they stick with "girl" cause we painted EVERYTHING pink!! My dr is sending me for one more ultrasound but I am not sure when...... And I wish my little one would come soon but your right I definately need more time!! We did order the changing table and crib and I got an email that both are shipping this week so I'm super excited!! Now things are really going full force!! Are you having a baby shower? Mine is July 12th and I feel like thats cutting it close cause im due August 18th. I guess a month isnt bad Im just super scared about going early! I have had TONS of pressure really low. I'm not sure if its just from the baby getting big or if I am starting to dialate! I am definately going to talk to the dr next week about it though! And I just toured the hospital this week. It was alot of fun cause I got to ask tons of questions!! Good luck on your glucose test!
honey-sorry about the back pain! I am starting to get that to and its horrible! dont feel bad about not being able to do stuff. Your body is telling you to stop for a reason! take it easy lady! =)
Niki-how did your apt go?

hi ladies,
tiger - how did you make out on the 1 hour GTT?
bshawley - wondering if you are delivering now? did the bumpy jeep ride work?
sun - did you like the birthing center? how did your test go?
honey - i've finally started to experience the sciattica pain. it comes and goes, but is not constant. my heart goes out to you for living with it 24/7. ouch. congrats on your anniversary, too, btw. and what's so bad about being induced? you and DH have to do what is right for the baby. pls don't let MIL's comments upset you.
niki - wondering, too if your little guys are here yet. still can't believe you were cleaning house so recently... lol!
lauren - i'm due on the 11th and i *think* my shower is at the end of this month. my best guess is on the 28th (our wedding anniversary). DH will have a reason to bring me to a restaurant. i don't know why they won't tell me the date - i had to provide a list of names, so it's not like i don't know one is coming. anyway, i also have alot of pelvic pressure. from the most recent u/s 2 weeks ago, she is rather low. hopefully, that will come in handy for L&D.
hope i didn't miss anyone!
***************************************
so, my diabetic diet is going pretty well. i met with the nutritional counselor last friday and started on saturday. i admit that i was cranky and HUNGRY on saturday, but i'm getting into the groove now. i have a dr. appt. this friday morning - he is going to check my fasting blood sugar level, then i'm supposed to eat my "normal" diabetic breakfast, then in another hour, he will draw another glucose sample to make sure i'm ok. i sorta feel like this is a check-up to see if i'm really following the diet, yanno? like he's looking at me with squinty eyes. hahaha! the good news is that my weight gain has been holding steady in the last few appts. 18 pounds so far and since 25 is my limit, i just might make it.
anyway, i have not yet had any BH contractions and my boobs are not sore anymore. however, i am not so easily able to bend over anymore. and moving slow is the name of the game. the baby kicks alot, but every time DH puts his hand on my belly, she stops. poor guy thinks she's faking him out already! it's become a running joke between us now. seriously, though, he has not felt her moving and i hope that he will get a chance while she's still cooking in there.
hope you all have a great week!

No babies. The specialist says-'baby a has low fluid yet, but is doing alright'. So tomorrow the regular practice, I can only pray, will schedule the 38 week c-section since they remain breech and stubborn! :) We just have a discrepency with where 38 weeks falls. lol. But with our move this month, I have no choice but ask them to follow the first one so that I can in fact go with our stuff....and be able to drive! lol.
Well-feeling really icky today-so I'm going to lay down again. I slept almost 12 hours last night - I can't move well and I've never felt this tired ever in my life.
Renee-glad that the GD diet is going well. I bet it is an adjustment--I'd probably have such a hard time actually preparing more food since my new onset of laziness- but you are good!!! :) Hope the tests show it.
Well-have a good Wednesday! :)

She's- Thanks for thinking of me!! I am still waiting though!! I did try to post the other day but the battery died on the laptop mid post and it was late then so I just gave up and went to bed. So exciting how close we are now, I cant believe we are both still here with twins! We have done really well. Cant wait to know when your c-section date is!!
rkingall - Glad diet is going well!! my dh hasnt felt the babies move much either although he has done a couple of times they tend to stop moving quite quickly after he puts his hand there. I hope your dh gets to feel her moving soon though, I think it makes it feel all the more real for them.
Tigar - I agree not to worry about the weight gain. Pregnancy is about the ony time your allowed to put on weight, if your doc isnt worried then I woudnt stress over it. I dont know how much I have put on as they havent weighed me since my first appointment but I think I have put on quite alot - probably over 40lbs.
Bshawley -I was realy expecting to be reading your birth story today. Hope you are ok and not too fed up! Your LO will be here soon!
Honey - Happy anniversary, dont feel bad needing to take it easy your friend should understand!
Well the end is in sight now - a week tomorrow they will definatey be here. I would love them to arrive before but I really dont think its likely. these babies are too blinking comfy in there. I keep telling them that there is much more room out here but think they happy where they are!lol! Seriousy though I would like them to come a few days earlier but thats just me being selfish cause I am so fed up in this hosp, I know deep down the longer they stay there the better so ideally really I will go to c section day.
Hope everyone else is doing well. We will all be on the moms board very soon!

ok weird question but I am dying here! I just turned 29 weeks and my breasts are hurting like you would not believe!! It feels like a semi truck is smushing them inbetween the pavement!! I have never had them hurt so badly!! Its horrible!! Does it hurt when your milk starts to come in? Does it start coming in this early? Someone please help me!!
ShesAWannaBeHero
06-03-2009, 05:56 PM
Lauren-mine have been doing this most recently in the past few weeks-possibly a month now. I am assuming it is my milk coming in but never anticipated it hurting so badly.
Smogy-well I was hoping it was you that went next....but we're still holding tight to these twins. All our friends around us went and we're making these twins HUGE. lol. I guess I'd really like a date scheduled soon-me, the planner would just love a countdown but I must admit some more cramping in the last few days...so maybe they can come themselves...despite what doctor said. I had such high blood pressure this morning I almost called.
Anyway- we'll hang in there for a week. I know I'm praying that with holding them this long will mean they will be able to come home with us.
Well--take care and hang in there ladies---

Smogy, I love that you are telling the babies that there is more room out than in. It just made me smile! You just must be keeping them super comfortable in there! I will send baby-come vibes your way!
She's, Those babies will be here soo soon! I can't believe it! I hope that you can take them home right away, as I imagine it is hard to have the babies in the hospital when you go home.
Lauren, My boobs are really sensitive too. Sometimes they hurt like I was punched, but most of the time now they are just sensitive. The doc said something about hormones, so I think that is why they hurt. I don't think your milk actually comes in until after the baby is born. This is just another "joy" of pregnancy:)
Renee, it is great that your weight gain is right where it needs to be. You can make it! I don't think there is anything wrong with being induced, except that the rate of c-sections goes up, and I hope to not have one. If that's what needs to happen for the baby to be healthy, I will do whatever it takes. I just prefer not to have a c-section if I don't need one. I really try not to let the MIL's comments bother me, but I can't help but let them get to me sometimes. She can just be so condescending!
SunChic, how did your GTT go?
Does anyone else feel like their baby(ies) have hiccups alot? I feel like our baby has the hiccups all the time! I wonder if they have the hiccups when they come out as much as they did when they were inside???

Hi everyone! You are all getting so close to meeting your little ones. I can't wait to hear your stories and to see your babies!
honey... when the baby comes out it definitely hiccups just as much. My Cora got hiccups at least 3 times a day while inside and she still does now. It is cute but I feel bad for her :)

Just a quick note-we finally have a date!!! They scheduled our c-section for Thursday 6/11!!! We are SO excited that we have just one week left. Of course if we go into labor that'd be even more awesome, but I am thinking that the boys are just soo darn comfy in there --lol. Well gotta get some dinner stuff-but was happy that our babies will be here SO soon now! :) Have a wonderful evening--

Hello everyone! I cannot believe how close all of us are getting...I don't know about you guys, but man am I DONE!! Everything hurts!:)
She's and Smogy-good luck with those babies-you guys are cooking them so well!
She's-good luck with your c-section next week, it must be so nice to have (an idea of) a plan!
Honey-My little man gets the hiccups like 3x a day and i was starting to worry, but I have a bunch of friends that say it's normal, but their LO's do get hiccups on the outside too!
Lauren-sorry about the breast pain, mine are pretty sore/sensitive all the time too, not as bad as yours it sounds like, but enough to annoy me, especially in bras...
Renee-sorry about the GD diet, it cannot imagine and totally feel for you...I am a sweet/carb fiend...good job on your restraint!
As for me nothing too exciting, was taken off of bed rest at 37 weeks-it's nice to get out and about, but it is definitely getting hard to get around! My last dr appt i was totally closed...and man that "check" was not very comfortable! Hopefully things are moving along and this little man will make an appearance next week, at this point I don't think he's ever coming out! Hope everyone has a great friday and weekend!

Shes - I cant believe our twins are going to have the same bday!!! That is cool!! We really have been through this pregnancy together! I know either one of us couldgo before but atleast we are on a countdown now!! Less than a week and they will be here!!
Lauren - Cant help with the breast pain sorry I havent had any through my pregancy so I dont know. I think it is quite common to experiance it though.
Chinook - How is mommyhood treating you? Hope Cora has settled in well! Cora is the one definate name we have decided on if we have a girl. I just love that name!
Honey - I havent noticed the babies having hiccups even once which I am kinda gutted about cause I always hear people saying about it and I have never felt it!
Brenna - I know what you mean about being done, I have loved being pregnant but enoughs enough now. I'm huge and uncomfortable and every morning I wake up with more stretch marks than I went to bed with!! LOL! I think we are suppose to feel like that though its natures way of telling us we are ready for our LO's. I hope your little man arrives soon for you!
Hope everyone else is doing well!

Smogy and She's- I think that is so cool that both sets of twins will be born on the same day! I can't wait to find out what you are having smogy- and She's- can't wait to hear the names!!
lauren- sorry I am of no help with the breast pain- I had some, but not like what you are talking about. Hopefully it will feel better soon. How are you doing otherwise?
brenna- when is your next appt? do you know how long they will let you go before inducing? I know you said you are so ready!!
chinook- How is motherhood treating you? How is little Cora doing? How are you feeling? Thanks for checking in on us!!
rking- I am glad it seems as though your diabetic diet seems to be helping. What did they put you on? do you have to test your blood 4 times a day? That is what I have to do.
honey- I think my LO has hiccuped a few times, but I am not 100% sure...not lots though! Sounds like yours is very busy!
bshawley- any news? I was lauging at the bouncing in the Jeep. My dad used to have a CJ-7 waaaay back when I was a kid and he would take my sister and me on a 'bumpy road'. We thought it was a blast, but never thought someone would use that to try to get the baby moving to deliver!
sunchic- Did you pass your glucose test? I hope so....how are you feeling otherwise?
tiger- so cute you call your LO ladybug- it made me smile when I read that. did you pass your glucose test?
As for me- I can't remember if I told you ladies I got switched to a high risk OB. The gestational diabetes is just getting worse and my OB's office does not really 'play' with insulin and such. Had a 4 hour appt. on Monday- saw an endocronologist, put me on more insulin (4x per day), found out the other dietitian was treating me like a 'regular' diabetic instead of a gestational one, there is a difference. I just left feeling like it was the right thing to go to the high risk office but I felt like I was doing the wrong thing for the past 4 weeks and became upset. I just don't want anything wrong with my little girl. Of course I am not happy I had to switch hospitals and everything while I was in my 34th week, but I just have to think this is what is best. I will go for one more weekly appt. then I will start 2 times a week appts. Can someone tell me when they start internal exams?
Hope everyone is having a good weekend- I only have 4 school days left, then I hope I can relax a bit!! I am trying to get my lesson plans for next year all set for the sub!!

I did my GTT over 2 weeks ago and everything was great! Also checked my iron levels and they are perfect! Oh yeah and my dr said I have gained a grand total of 1 lb since getting preggo!! I am super excited about that. I was afraid that I had gained alot but I lost first so I am up to 1 lb. We (my mom, dad, hubby and I) started working on the baby's room today. Got it about half cleaned out. But we did get our old washer and dryer and a matress set taken off to the dump. Oh yes and we picked out bedding for our boy.http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2841292

Hi Ladies! I hope you are all having a good and relaxing weekend!
shy - glad to hear that your GTT went well! The bedding you picked out is super cute! I love fish/ocean themed decor!
tryin' - i am so sorry to hear that you've gotten the run around with your GD, the insulin, and having to switch hospitals so late. I can definitley understand why you would be upset about the whole situation! Hopefully with the switch to the high risk OB they will keep an even closer eye on you and the baby! I hope your last days of school go well!
She's & Smogy - That is way cool that you are both planned for c-sections on the same day! Isn't it crazy the connections that can be made on here!! I am so excited for you both to meet your babies on 6/11 (unless sooner)!
Brenna - I bet you were very happy to be off bed rest! Even though you are uncomfortable, i bet it will be nice to get some things done before the baby arrives! I hope you can be as comfortable as possible these last days of your pregnancy!
Honey - My baby gets the hiccups (seems like) all the time! I felt it for the first time a couple weeks or so ago and since then i would say he gets them everyday, and sometimes multiple times in a day! I hope that you and DH had a good anniversary and that your sciatica is not giving you too much pain...i hope your MIL isn't giving you too many pains about the early induction either!! ;)
Renee - How's the GD diet going? Glad to hear that the BH and breast soreness have subsided! Has DH gotten some kicks from the baby lately?!
Lauren - I bet you are so excited to be getting your room ready for your little girl!! You are way more on the ball than i am!! I bet you are excited for your baby shower! My SIL is throwing one for me on July 24, and i still need to work on getting one planned for my side of the family and my friends! I guess it would help if i get my butt in gear and get registered!!
Bailey - How are you? Past your due date and we haven't heard from you!!
As for me...My GTT went well and i had a really great appt with my dr. - i wrote down about a notebook page and a half of ?'s for her about the birth and hospital, etc and she very nicely answered them all for me and now i feel a lot more informed about the rules and procedures of the hospital. Some i am ok with and some i am not so sure on. Due to a crazy week and work i still have not gone to the birthing center :( It is one of my #1 prioroties this week to get there and check it out! I was telling my mom that i am too busy to have a baby and she laughed and said i would not be too busy to have a baby! ;) So, i re-phrased and said i was too busy to plan for the baby! lol This Friday night/Saturday morning was the conclusion of all the Relay For Life festivities, so that will def help free up some of my time and energy! You should of seen me though - this pregnant chic stayed up all night long (6:00 pm - 6:30 am), sold cotton candy, learned/performed a dance for a talent show, and even did a hip hop class at 5:30 a.m.!!
Here's to a good week and babies being born!! What an amazing miracle!

Good Morning ladies--
I think I may be going into labor! I'm nervous-excited-and definitely hesitant to jump the gun. But I've been up since 3a.m. with cramping/contractions that are getting closer to 10 minutes (that's when I'm supposed to leave to get to the hospital--we're about 1 hr. and 15 minutes from the hospital). I've had reddish/brownish discharge yesterday in small amounts--thought it was possibly mucus plug--and then with the contractions starting up-I'm thinking we're going soon.
I showered now-and I'm just waiting a little bit longer until I reach my 6 in an hour! Ugh-I'm nervous.
Alright-well if I'm MIA for a few days--Smogy-g/l. I'm surely thinking about you and those little ones. I'm anxious to hear they are here-safe-you are well-and all that fun stuff.

YAY She's! You will have to let us know how it all goes!
Things here are going okay. I had my first couple painful contractions in the last couple days so that was definitely interesting! Niki-congrats on your new addition!! glad everything went well!! =)
Smogy- Good luck tomorrow! I cant wait to hear all about your babies coming out safe and sound!!
shykat- I wish I only gained 1 lb!! lol. I am up 13 so far. Which BTW I go to the dr today so I am sure I will be adding a few lbs to that grand total!! lol
Sunchic- How are you doing?!?!?

Happy Wednesday Ladies!!
Smogy - I'll be thinking of you, DH and the little ones tomorrow afternoon! I can't wait to hear what you have, name them and see them!!
Lauren - How are you?! Are the bb's feeling any better these days? I hope so!! I now have my baby showers pretty much planned - the first one for my family is on June 28, then the one my friends are throwing will be in the July 17-19 weekend one day, and then one for DH's fam is on July 24. I'm excited to have a couple less traditional showers, as a couple will maybe be on Friday nights! I've also started on registering, which is a good thing! And i bought my baby bed and some other decor for the room!
In other news - i finally made it up to the Birth Center yesterday afternoon! I didn't get to meet with the midwife(s) there, but i met with a girl who worked there, and also gave birth there so she knew lots and lots about it. The facility is small, but very nice and non-medical! Both of the birthing rooms have good size tubs, and you can do a water birth there! After going and looking at it and talking with her, DH and i decided that that was what we wanted to do. I just think that being in a hospital environment where you are one person who wants things differently than other people versus being in a place that embraces and encourages the things you want for your birth will be much easier on me and DH. I just feel like it is what i was looking for and need. I'm not getting a lot of support from my parents, and i'm not sure what DH's parents will think - but i know i have DH's support and my sister's - who will both be there, and really i guess that that's all that matters! I have my appt with my OB tomorrow and i guess i will tell her then that we will be switching, barring any reason that the Birth Center would not take us. I am hoping that will go well! Next Thursday is our first appt at the BC and i am excited for that!!

My parents came over yesterday and painted what was going to be the baby's room and is now going to be the big boys room. (it is much bigger than their room) It is a pretty blue (kinda bright) I will post pics once the whole room is set up. Then we will get the baby's room painted and set up!

sun- It is YOUR birth, so if this is what you think is best and most comforable for you- go for it! People are going to have an opinion and make comments about things your entire life....do what is best for you which is what you are doing!
smogy- GOOD LUCK tomorrow- can't wait to hear about, see the babies, and find out what you are having!!
lauren- how are you doing?
honey- So the braxton hicks are already hitting you? I have not really had any- no contractions even when doing my non stress tests! You are just getting more practice!!
shy- can't wait to see pics of the room!
Ahhh...tomorrow is my LAST DAY of school! Can't wait!! I am looking forward to a little time to organize things and get the room ready for our little girl!

Smogy---I'll be praying for you! I know there is a time difference and I'm sure I'll be up correlating to your scheduled c-section. I can only imagine how excited you are!!!!
Sun-You should definitely be comfortable with your place you'll give birth-and it sounds like this place is perfect for you! :)
Trying-yeah!! I remember how exciting the last day of school feels! :) Enjoy the last day--hope you are doing well with your pg too! :)
Shycat-sounds wonderful. I can't wait to see pictures.
Guess I should move over to the mom's board-will check in to see when you ladies give birth though!! Best of luck and can't wait to hear about your little ones!! :)

Good luck, Smogy! Can't hear to hear how everything went!
Tryin - Yay for the last day of school! I can totally relate. My last day was May 22 and I've been getting everything ready for our ladybug. It's nice to just relax!
Shes - Congrats again your boys!
Shykat - The room sounds great!
Sunchic - Glad you got to visit the birthing center. It's important to feel comfortable with the environment you'll be in when you give birth. I'm going on a hospital tour tomorrow and I hope to pre-register.
Honey - you're almost there!
Has anyone heard from bshawley?
Hi Lauren and the other ladies!

SunChic, I wish we had a birthing center around here! I think that is where I would like to be able to give birth too. It sounds so much more comfortable, though I do really like my doctor at the hospital. You have to do what you are comfortable with and don't let anyone change your mind. My mother in law has given me enough slack for anything and everything and I am still working on ignoring what she has to say...since she always has something to say...
She's, You are welcome to stay here as long as you want!
Tryin, it is awesome that you are almost done with school! It makes me want to be a teacher:) I am in school and after Wednesday I only have 2 more classes and my thesis to finsh so I am really pumped about that. My braxton hicks haven't been to bad. Really sporadic and I haven't had many. I hope they pick up soon so they do some work before I go into labor
Tiger, it must be so nice to get some time to just relax before your LO comes!
Shy, I can't wait to see pics!
Smogy, I cant wait to hear how everything goes!
for anyone I missed I hope you are all doing well!
I am finally starting to get uncomfortable, but mostly when I am sitting because the baby is still breech and his/her head is up in my rib cage. Who knew such a small person could cause so much discomfort!

well ladies I went for my 30 wk apt and the dr sent me to labor and delivery!! I went in and told him how I was having some pressure very low down. He measured my stomach and I was measuring 33 weeks instead of 30. He said that is kinda a big difference so it raised a little concern. Then he was pushing on my stomach and it was very tender and painful! He said that shouldnt happen either. He then discovered that baby is head down so decided to send me to labor and delivery even though I didnt have any contractions. They measured the babys heartbeat and movement. I got an ultrasound to!! My little monster weighs 3 lb 7 oz already!! Shes gonna be a chunker!! lol. We also discovered that she has one leg by my ribs and the other leg down in my pelvis along with her head! We have a little gymnist! She is practically doing the splits in me!! Everything looked ok though and they sent me home. I go and see him in another 2 weeks. For some odd reason I think she is going to come early. I have horrible pains in my pelvis...kinda like it is trying to stretch out. I still have almost 9 weeks to go! Is all of this what everyone else is going through already?!?!?!

Lauren, I just started to have more pressure/pain in my pelvis too, but haven't had a chance to talk to my doctor about it. I have the opposite problem, where our baby is measuring about a week and 2 days behind, but i understand the feeling of the baby coming early. I wouldn't worry though, she will come when she is good and ready :)

so I am having many sleepness nights. My pelivis hurts SOOO bad but again no contractions. Is it possible to dialate without contractions?
How is everyone else doing? Its really quiet around here!!
Lauren- At my 37 1/2w appt I was 3cm and was either having painless contractions or dilated just from the pressure of his head. (I went into full blown labor the next day)

lauren - i'm also having a lot of low pelvic pressure lately. getting up and down from a seated or laying position is tough. and the baby kicks *constantly*! not complaining, mind you, but she's like a boxer in there or something. :) lauren, i hope you are resting with your feet up as much as possible now! and that you're not too uncomfortable.
sunchic - glad to hear you found a place you like! that's very cool. the hospital we will deliver at has an attached birthing center where all mommmas go. depending on what kind of birth you want dictates the room/area you go in. i know they have a water/tub birthing area. i, being rather traditional, am opting for the regular route. the way i see it, i needed to move medical mountains to get pg with this baby, and so we are more comfortable in an environment where she and i could get immediate medical attention if it was warranted. plus, i'm old, and am considered high-risk, so there's that, too. :)
shy - we are also just finishing the baby's room. i will take some pics and post them as soon as it's done. i'm excited for the fininshed product! the crib should be here any day now, and i'm fairly certain my shower is at the end of the month, so i'll be able to set everything up afternwards.
tiger and honey - hope you ladies are doing well!

my last 32 week u/s is this friday. DH is coming with me for this one. we are both so nervous and excited at this point. like i can't freakin' (hey, i'm from new jersey) believe we are going to have our very own baby soon!
the diabetic diet sucks, i admit. i'm always hungry and can never eat what i'd really like to eat. i've tried to take the focus off food and just not think about it, but a growling stomach makes that a bit difficult. i am grateful for bananas and chesse sticks. otherwise, i might not make it! lol!
have a great week, all!

Renee, totally know how you feel about your 32 wk ultrasound. DH and I were the same way. Now the countdown keeps getting smaller and both of us are amazed at how soon this baby will be coming! 5 weeks is such a short amount of time!
Okay, I need to vent. My MIL is driving me NUTS!!!! I love her to death but she is getting to be more added stress than help! First, DH and I are moving back to Wi to SD shortly after the baby is born and we are staying with her until we find a house. She offered to come back out here when we are ready to move to help us pack everything up and to drive a car back. However, she does not want to drive DH's car because it is stick and she hasn't driven manual in awhile, and she doesn't want to drive my car because it doesn't have air conditioning. Basically she wants to come out and "help" by having DH and I drive separately and she wants to just ride back with me driving and the baby in the car. DH and I want to ride together so that he can be there to help if we have any issues with the baby. So she offers to help and then makes it so that she would just be an additional passenger and another something taking up room in the car....I would rather have his sister or my mom come out and just drive a car back so that DH and I can ride together. Beyond that, she doesn't trust that we are telling her everything that is going on with the pregnancy and the baby. We have yet to give her a reason to think that way, but she thinks that we know the sex of the baby and won't tell her (which we don't) and she keeps insisting that we call her after every doctors appointment and give her detailed information of everything that went on. last time I checked, this wasn't her pregnancy, it is not her child, and she doesn't need to know everything that goes on. That is between DH and I. As you know from previous posts, our baby is measuring small so we have to have another U/S this week to make sure he/she is growing properly. She had the nerve to imply that it was my fault because maybe I wasn't eating enough (which is not the case). and she keeps calling and asking about it, asking the same questions thinking that for some reason we are keeping things from her. Now she keeps calling to tell us that we need to call her as soon as we leave the U/S to let her know what is going on. I tried to explain that we won't know what is going on because the tech doesn't determine what courses of action are taken. Our doctor does...and we don't see her again until a week after the U/S. I am just getting so frustrated and she is adding all of this stress. She wants to plan out everything that is going to happen with this baby and the rest of the pregnancy and I don't. I don't know when the baby is going to come, so I am getting so frustrated that she is trying to make set-in-stone plans...ugh...sorry about the rant, but my blood pressure is probably rising from all of this and I needed to vent to someone.

honey - ((hugs)) goodness, goodness, goodness!!! You poor thing! As if you don't already have enough going on with the baby and moving, etc to have all that unneeded stress added to your life! I know it probably would not be the easiest thing to do - but it sounds like you or DH is going to have to stand up to her and put your foot down about all this nonsense! And honestly, i would think it would be more appropriate for your DH to do so, b/c it is his mother! I know it's not always an easy thing to stand up to your parents, but he also needs to protect you and your emotional/physical well being...would you let anyone else treat you that way?! Often times people get away with being like that b/c no one ever stands up to them and tells them that that behavior is unacceptable. I hope everything goes well for you at your appt! Take care of yourself and work out with DH the best way to resolve this problem - b/c it sounds like if something is not done about it now, you could be quite miserable with her around once you move back.
hey renee! You are very lucky to have a hospital that is open to a more natural birth plan if you should choose!! Coming from a very conservative town in the midwest and planning to deliver at a hospital formerly run by nuns, we are just not quite as progressive here, unfortunately!! Luckily, the town that the birthing center is in is much more progressive/liberal when it comes to things like that probably due to the fact that the University of Missouri is located there! I'm glad that the diet is going ok...i know from when i lost weight that it's hard to adjust and find enough things that fit into plan and keep you satisfied! Good luck at the appt on Friday!!
Lauren - well, i bet that was a bit of a surprise going to your appt and then being sent to L&D!! I feel like i have been having more pressure in my pelvic area, as well - i figured it was partly due to the fact that the baby is just getting bigger and exerting more pressure - esp like renee said when she stands up from sitting/lying down. I hope you can figure out some way to get comfy and get some good rest, though!
Tryin - I bet you are sooo happy that school is finished up! Are you going to hit the swimming pools and relax?! ;)
As for me - I had my last OB appt last Thursday before starting at the BC. The first thing she asked me at the appt was if i had any other ?'s - and i i fessed up right away that we had gone to the Birth Center and switching to there. She was very understanding and sweet about it and said that she knew that that would probably be better for me anyway for the way i wanted things! So - i was glad that that went well! My sister and I worked on registering this weekend - and boy - was i overwhelmed! I love shopping - but i told DH he was lucky to have gotten out of that one!! I was exhausted when we were finished! I ended up registering at Target, Walmart and Amazon.com. I figured that would give people a variety of places/sources to choose from. I tried reading my Baby Bargains book before i went, but that book is so long, that i decided to just wing it! Anywho - can't believe i am 30 weeks already!! Ordered the baby bed last monday and it will be here tomorrow!! I can't wait to see it! I found the cutest bedding that i want to get but it is around $150!! I guess i'm just cheap - so i may wait and see if i get some gift cards that i can put towards it!
Hope you all have a great rest of the week!!! Enjoy those kickin' babies!! ;)

Sunchic, Thanks for listening to me babble and for the advice. DH and I have already talked about how he needs to stand up to her. DH and her had always had communication issues because since his dad passed away (almost 10 years ago now) his mom tends to just break down when he stands up to her and takes everything personally. She plays the victim and he doesn't do a good job of making her realize that she isn't a victim, but that things do need to change. it is a vicious cycle.
On a different note, I had our 35 week appointment today and the doctor wants us to walk over to see her again right after our appointment on friday. my stomach is now measuring a little small so I don't know that we are going to get good news friday...I will keep hoping. I had my strep B test today and don't have the results yet but wow was that weird. i assumed the test was more of a cervical swab and not just on the outside! You learn something new everyday! I was very excited to hear that I am a little over a centimeter dialated and I am starting to thin out. I am just hoping that this means I can get a good amount dialeted with out all the labor pain to get there. I have heard awful stories of people being only a centimeter dialeted when they go into labor and having awful contractions.

We have been busy working on 2 rooms instead of just the baby's room. We decided after cleaning out the room that was supposed to be the baby's that it was HUGE and we moved the 2 boys into that room but not before painting it and cleaning everything. Now we have been working on the baby's room. It is painted and the windows are painted but my mom wants to paint the base boards too (to match the white windows) We are also waiting on the crib. It is at my mom's house along with the matching dresser. My nephew has been borrowing them since he was born more than 2 yrs ago. They have been shopping for him a big boy bed for a while but have not gotten it yet. We do have a bassinet and that will work to start with but I would really like to get this little one's room finished before he makes an entrace into this world. My next appointment is Monday (I will be 33 weeks) I am having a few random contractions along with the braxton hicks ones. I know I don't have much longer but I am so ready to meet this baby. Last night I was sitting on the couch (in front of the AC) and I was dripping sweat (I know gross right?) I am so hot natured anyways and being preg in the summer is not fun lol (both the boys were born in March so I havn't ever been through the summer preg before)
Well I need to go do laundry. Maybe I will get the boys to do it HAHAHA

Happy Friday Mommas!!
I am so happy it is Friday! I think i have been waking up for the last three days thinking it was Saturday!! So, it'll be nice for it to really be here tomorrow!! It'll be another busy weekend, but that's ok! I am hoping to get by the pool at least one day! That will make me happy!
So - i posted this on the natural childbirth connection thread, but i am really down about the lack of support for DH and i and our decision to go to the Birth Center. Honestly - people are very uninformed about this option and honestly, you would think by some of the reactions we have gotten that we are going in risking our lives and they think we are crazy! It's just hard not to have open minds and support from our parents.
We did have our first appt at the Birth Center and things went really well. We met with one of the midwives and the physician director of the center. One of the neatest things about the appt is when the midwife was feeling to see what position the baby was in and she showed DH how to feel where the head was, etc!! It was so cool!! Too bad no one else shared our delight in that when we told them. Honestly, i guess we are just going to have to deal with the resistance, and just know in our own hearts and minds that this is the best thing for us to do...what else can we do?!
honey - that does sound like a vicious cycle! I hope that DH can get things resolved with her and you won't even have to worry about it when the time comes to move!! And how exciting, though, that things are getting on their way with dilating, etc! You'll have to keep us posted on any new developments!
shy - good luck on the rooms and staying cool!! I hear ya with the heat, as we've had heat indexes of around 110 degrees here the last few days!!
Have a great weekend everyone!
tryin'4#1
06-19-2009, 06:28 PM
sun- I think it is cool that DH got to 'feel' the head! I think that everyone is so opinionated about everything you do in a pregnancy- if it works for you and DH, that is all that matters. It is not like you are running out to a cornfield to have the kid or something...The birthing center seems like the choice for you. Ahh...this is just the beginning of people giving their opinions!!
honey- Your Dr. sounds like they care about you lots! yes, please rant to us about your MIL. I think the majority of guys have problems standing up to their moms. It should not be causing you so much stress though. Just tell her you don't need her help driving up- remember, you and DH probably have cell phones and can call each other if you are in separate cars and if you need help. Not ideal, but you can make it work!! It is so much moving so far with a little one- I don't think I could do it!!
shy- Ahhh..yesterday I had to turn the AC way down. Too hot! I get nuts about the electric bill though, but I could care less now!!
rking- I hear you about the diabetic diet. What do they have you eating? I get 30 carb grams for breakfast, 30 for snack, 45 for lunch, 30 for snack, 60 for dinner, 30 at night snack but night snack has to have full fat something- I have stuck to ice cream. No milk/fruit at breakfast or PM snack. What about you? I want strawberry french toast so badly!! I know, stupid!! Do you have to test your blood or take insulin? I do both.
lauren- my pelvis hurts too- especially when I change positions from sitting to standing or lying to standing like someone else mentioned. I don't know if I am dialated or not though- no internal exams for me yet.
Monday I had a 'big' appt. with ultrasound, non stress test (2 times a week I go now), endocrinologist, and high risk OB. My little one is what they call a 'complete breech'- I guess there are3 different types of breech, but my baby is positioned, as I like to say, in a 'cannonball'- can't you see all the kids at the pool doing this into the water? That is how she is. I saw the u/s tech after the OB, so I will have to discuss this on Monday when I go again. I seriously dont' think she will flip as I am 37 weeks already. She is not TOO big, although large which is what is expected due to the gestational diabetes.
Anyone else having horrible carpal tunnel? Mine is bad...painful. So- if I don't get to type much, I am thinking of all of you and I do come on to read!!

I am getting excited! I know I should wait and post AFTER my dr's appointment today but I just need to share!
My Mom and Dad will be driving to my house tomorrow (they live almost an hour away) and will be bringing my baby bed back to me! Also the matching dresser, a celing fan and a closet door (way back in 1992 there was a bad snow storm here and many of the closet doors got burned for fire wood) They also have my oldest son with them. He decided he needed to spend the night after visiting with my Dad yesterday.
The baby's room is painted and the big boys room is painted just need to put the finishing touches on then I can take pictures (the baby's room is quite empty right now) I cannot wait to share!!

Welcome to the 3rd tri, Danyel!
shykat - Can't wait to see pictures of the room!
tryin - I've been having carpal tunnel problems, also. I wear a wrist brace that helps with the pain. I hope all goes well with your appt.
sunchic - That's so cool that your DH got to feel the head. What a great experience!
honey and ringkall - I hope you two are doing well! Hi to anyone I've missed!
I had another appt today and I failed my 1 hr glucose test. My blood sugar was 191! Way too high. I will get the 3 hr test done in the morning. I've heard it wasn't too had of an experience, but I'm dreading it. Also, I'm anemic so now I have to take iron pills. I had to take iron when I was pg with my first son. The good news is that Avery has turned head down. She was breech for a while there. I talked to my dr about an elective induction and he was all for it. I have 9 weeks to go! So much to do and so little time!

hi girls,
honey - i am sorry to hear about your MIL. hopefully, your DH can speak to her and set the record straight about your decisions for the baby. and hopefully, once the baby arrives, all that strife will disappear. you certainly don't need this on top of the other stuff you've got going on. hang in there.
shy - we just finished the painting and wall border in the baby's room last weekend and just got the crib yesterday. i am so excited to put everything in place and take some pics now. i don't know about you, but i sure had a hard time getting up and down off the floor to paint. something i used to take for granted became exhausting! whew!
sun - hold onto the folks who are supporting your decisions to go with the birthing center and forget the rest. it must be hard to feel that your parents are not with it, but if they are anything like mine, they come from a different generation and sorta resistant to change. in the end, when the baby arrives, you will be pleased that you had the delivery you wanted and that's all that matters, really.
tryin - sorry to hear about the carpel tunnel, that stinks! will you need surgery for it? also, my diet sounds alot like the one you've described. but, i don't check my blood sugars, since i am not diabetic and do not have GD. i don't take insulin, either. my doc is just really crazed about weight and diabetes since i am already overweight. i passed that 2 hour eating test he gave me a couple of weeks ago, so i think he's satisfied that i'm not shoving twinkies down my throat (although i can dream about it). i chuckled about your cannonball description of kids at the pool (my DH thinks it's funny to do that still and he's almost 40!), although i'm not laughing that she's breech. i guess you will have a C-section then if she doesn't turn, right? you still have some time, so maybe she will turn.
danyel - welcome to the thrid tri! for me, it's been great excpet for the return of the heartburn. ouch!
tiger - i had to do the 3 hour GTT and passed it even though i failed the 1 hour GTT. they did 5 draws on me: baseline, 30 min post drink, 60 minutes post drink, then 2 hours, then 3 hours. the lab did not put a vein port in (which really sucked) since i only have one good vein in my left arm and they kept sticking the same place over and over again. ask them for a port - it's easier! and good luck!
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
so, i had the 32 week u/s on friday. the baby looks good. she is head down (as i suspected, since the pelvic pressure is crazy now!) and she weighs 4 lbs and 3 oz. so far. i really have to try and post some of the 4d pics we have of her. at 28 weeks, we got a good shot of her with her arm on her forehead with an exasperated expression, and she was doing it again at 32 weeks! it's so funny! as if she's thinking that life is hard in there! little drama queen already!
had my follow up at the dr. yesterday. all is well. diet must be working since my BP is normal, no swelling, no protein in the urine and i've been holding steady at 20 lbs. weigh gain. the doctor (i call him fat nazi) is pleased. and truly, everyone who sees me doesn't think i look like i've gained too much. my belly is big, but not extraordinary. i can still see my feet!
i'm 99.9% certain that my baby shower is this saturday. i'm supposed to go antiquing with one of my girlfriends. imagine her surprise when i show up in a dress! lol! i think she will know that i know, but whatever. i'm terrified of looking like a slob. one of my other freinrs showed up to her baby shower unshowered, in sweats, with no makeup, because her DH told her they were making a quick run to home depot! oh lord, that would be my worst nightmare!
my breastfeeding class scheduled for tomorrow has been cancelled. *insert angry face here*. it was supposed to be on 6/10, but they moved me b/c that class was so full, and now they are cancelling this one b/c there are not enough participants! now i have to wait until 7/24! i'm worried that it's cutting it too close, but i guess if i deliver sooner than the class, i'll just get a LC at the hospital. i shouldn't stress over it. lamaze class is on 7/18. my DH is like a deer in the headlights already. i can't imagine what he will be like at the class. he still talks about how he was permanently scarred after seeing the "Miracle of Life" documentary in high school. haha!
also, we have decided on a name for the baby. we actually decided a while ago, but i didn't want to post it on the baby name threads in case we changed it (or someone else takes it - lol!). but anyway, we are naming her veronica helen. the name veronica is a latin name, and honors both my DH's italian heritage and my hungarian lineage. of course, it's spelled with a "k" in hungarian, but we are not opting for that. the traditional spelling with a "c" is just fine. also, helen was my grandmother's name, and i love that it means "strength" and fortitude".
so, that's about all the news i have for now. hope you are all well. apologies if i missed anyone. i'll catch you later!

Well I now have MOST of my baby bed and dresser here HAHAHA my Mom didn't know what all went with the baby bed and left 3 pieces of it at her house (where my nephew has been using it) and she also left the drawer pulls (knobs or whatever) at her house. She also had bought curtain rods for the valances and she brought the wrong ones with her. So we have part of the baby's room set up but not really.
On the other hand she has had my 9 yr old son with her since Sunday and yesterday they were shopping and got whole new comforter set/sheets for him and his brother's beds. We now have a Star Wars room! We even have a Pepsi sign that was from one of the movies hanging above their beds. (one like they advertize drink prices on near the road) I will have to get pictures and post them. I think I will wait till the baby's room is finished (and no he still doesn't have a name lol)
rking- I never made the breastfeeding class at my hospital due to bedrest. But, they sent a LC over that day, plus I started reading up on the bfing thread on the moms board before hand...it helped a lot!! So if for some reason you don't make that class, it will be ok!
Love your little girls name!!

Hey ladies,
I am glad to read that all of you seem to be doing well! Things have just been crazy here with all of our baby drama. I mentioned it on the main board, but the baby is still measuring small, so we had to see a perinatologist an hour away to check us out. The baby is still looking healthy besides being small, so it makes it easier, but we have no idea when they are going to take the LO out. It is still breech which is a pain literally and figuratively. We are now being monitored three times a week with ultrasounds and NSTs which are taking up so much of my time! I understand these things are important, but holy cow does it take a lot of time! I am just hoping the baby can hold out until at least next week Thursday when we have our appointment for an external cephalic version. I finish the last class I need to attend in person on Wednesday so if it could wait till after then, it will make my life so much easier! I am super busy so I don't have time to do personals, but I hope everyone is doing well and I will keep you all updated! Regardless is is looking like our little one will make his/her debut in the next two weeks or so...

Hi guys, I can't believe I am here in the third trimester already. Time is just flying now and I just feel so busy. I have a doctor's appointment this week for my 3-hour Glucose test, really hoping I don't have GD. Next week I see my own doctor for another blood pressure check and possibly more tests if it is still high. Next month I have guests coming, my baby shower, some friends moving into town, and a baby room to decorate. Not to mention I still haven't taken the baby class series, but my husband is gonna be so busy when he gets home from Italy, so I don't think we can do it till August. Well the good thing is that time will fly with us being so busy, and I'll be holding my little girl before I know. I am just so excited!

rking- nice name- I like it and promise not to steal it!! I thought you had the full blown GD- glad you don't, wouldn't want anyone to go through this!! did you have your shower?
sharon- busy busy!! Hang in there! You will get it all done- and if you don't, all your baby really needs is a loving mommy which you will be!!
honey- I hear you about the appts. taking so much time. I seriously am so glad I am out of school. It takes an hour or more for me to get down to the high risk OB too-then wait around for appointments, etc. It is always a 4 hour ordeal. We will make it though!! I'm glad all is looking good for the baby though! Also- I give you credit for attmepting the external version.
shy- sounds like you are really getting rooms ready! Star wars-a boy's dream!!
danyel- Keeping cool?
sunchic- How are you?
I had the decision to make to try the external version (like honey is doing-I give her credit!) or not. I decided that I have hit too many low percentages with 'negative' things already, so I decided not to do it. the thought of it really freaked me out, and the OB said it was a 50/50 chance it would put her in the head down position. I decided that having a vaginal birth was not that important to me. I feel as though this entire pregnancy I have just let things be and if this is how she wants to be, I should let her. I have a c- section scheduled for 7/9 if I don't go into labor before that. I can't believe how close it is getting- I am getting really nervous!! Anyone else feeling that way? I just hope I can handle it!!

Hey ladies hope everyone is doing well! We finally had a long rain tonight, it was well needed! It hasn't rained here in over a month and a half! I finally have my breastfeeding class on sat! I am super excited. And my first baby shower is on july 11th. My mil is supposed to throw me one, but as its looking I'm not sure if she will, that or she is waiting on my sil to come back from honduras (she goes down every summer to visit family. This is where dh and family is from). I get tired of waiting on other people! I am ready to get my baby room together. I am so not a last minute person. Besides that Ashlyn has been moving around like crazy, I can finally see her move around in my belly hehe. But I am ready for her to be here. As much as I am waiting and wanting her here, I am ready for my body back. Pregnancy has really tested me. I have felt horrible most of the pregnancy. When they said the 2nd trimester is the best time, they lied in my case lol.
Hope everyone is well.

Tryin, I give you credit for being okay with a c-section. I do AWFUL with medication, so I am trying really hard for an un medicated natural birth. I will let you know how the inversion goes though!
Sharon, good luck on your GD test next week!
Shy, it must feel so good to have the baby's room coming together!
renee, I cannot wait to see your 3d/4d pictures! Our LO doesn't cooperate for those, so we didn't get a single good one!
Things here are good. I had my first round of 2x a week biophysical ultrasounds and fetal NSTs and the baby checked out great. It was such a relief. I have another appointment today as a general checkup and I am hoping all goes well. The baby is still breech which is driving me crazy, but I guess there isn't much more I can do, but wait and hope that he/she turns....
Happy Friday everyone!
