Hi. Well I'm obviously frustrusted to be here but also glad to have found this site. I went to the doc a couple weeks ago because I was having irregular bleeding, missed periods, and periods that lasted 3 weeks. Doc took blood tests which all came back normal. I had a pelvic ultrasound a couple days ago and she saw the cysts around both ovaries and told me it was PCOS.

My questions:
Is bleeding during intercouse a symptom of PCOS?
Why did the blood tests, which included hormones, come back normal and Doc still thinks I have PCOS?

Thanks in advance!

Hi emc,

I am recently diagnosed as well...and sympathize with your frustration. From what I have read here...the symptoms assoc'd with PCOS are wide ranging. For me, bleeding during intercourse is not a problem. I don't recall reading about others (on this site) who bleed during intercourse. Could the ultrasound have caused the bleeding?

As for your bloodwork, that's a mystery to me. Again from what I have read, testosterone and insulin levels tend to run high and there's generally a connection between the LH and FSH levels being out of proportion to one another.

Thanks for the reply.

The bleeding during intercouse has happened off and on since April, which was before the ultra sound. I just feel like they're missing something. I might have to mention it at my next appointment.

Good luck to you. You will find a lot of helpful information on this site.

Mr dr. said that PCOS is a clinical diagonisis and there is no test for it...basically, when everything else is ruled out and there are at least some of the signs, then you are diagnosed with PCOS.

I have irregular periods and some pain, but I am almost underweight and have no problems with acne or hair growth. I did have an internal sonogram and it revealed that my ovaries had cysts (like classic PCOS).
