Hello everyone! I am new to the forum and very excited to know that there are other women out there like me. I have had only two unsuccessful IUIs and decided to wait a while and try acupuncture. Has anyone tried it before? If so, what is your experience. I have been doing it for the past 3 weeks and I love it. It really does help with pain areas and I have faith that it will help my fertility issues. :)

HI-
Yes, I've been doing acupuncture in combination with fertility treatments (IUI, IVF, FET) for the last 2 years and love them as well. THey are so relaxing and I know they improve my follicular response/lining- Not to mention help with any worrying/anxiety. I don't know what the stats are for IUI but studies have shown that implantation rates are increased by up to 40% doing acupuncture with transfer (before/after) wtih IVF.

Something else you might want to try is regular massages. I don't think it has actually been studied properly, but I do know that massage helps to trigger the parasympathetic nervous system, which helps to reduce the "stress hormones" being produced. Stress hormones trigger changes in insulin production, the ability of the body to use insulin, blood sugar levels, etc., which all negatively impact the Insulin Resistance which is the main cause/trigger of PCOS!
I did my Jr. Research Paper on the effects of massage on diabetes - it was the closest thing I could find to PCOS and IR. I'm doing my Sr. Case Study on the effects of massage on blood sugar levels of diabetics. I would love to one day expand it and be able to apply it to PCOS and fertility, but one step at a time, I suppose! I need to graduate first! lol
Good luck!!! :)

I have been doing medical treatment ...iui...follistat as well as accupuncture. Accupuncture has been about 8 months now. I also do Reiki every now and then and mediate.
Anyone ever mediate?

Hi RoseTree, after 8 months, would you say acupuncture has helped you? It is quite expensive and I'd like to know if it's worth the expense. Please let us know.

I feel yes it has. If you find an MD who does it you can sometimes get covered. I have not found one. Also, may be a good tax deduction.
I love it!

babalee - great success story! Thanks for sharing!
I had success w/ IVF & acupuncture after a m/c with Femara, nothing w/ Clomid, & 3 failed IUI's with injects. I am now mom to a 1 yr. old and am TTCing #2, but I would like to try more natural routes first. Just had my 1st acu appt (new acu) on Saturday. She diagnosed me w/ Liver Qi dysfunction and kidney imbalance. She suggested raspberry tea every day. I think I will also start cinnamon after reading this and other boards
