Last week I had to go to the er because I could not feel my arms or legs. My Endo was worried that I was Having a insulin attack, but my insulin was fine. The ER doc said that he thought it was a site affect of my metphormin.(I've been on metphormin for a couple of months- I thought I knew all of the affects) Does any one else have this, and if so what causes it?

well i have never heard of these affects before, and i have read a lot about metphormin also. But i have had episoids where it feels like my back has gone out and i can bearly walk let alone raise my arm at all. And then my heart starts beating really fast and it is hard to breath but i have just ignored it so far, not thinking much off it, even though i think it is a serious side affect of metphormin.

Hypoglycemia *low blood sugar* can occur, which can bring the side effect of tingling of the hands and feet.

Stop taking metformin and seek immediate medical attention if you develop any of the following symptoms of lactic acidosis: unusual tiredness, severe drowsiness, chills, blue/cold skin, muscle pain, fast/difficult breathing, unusually slow/irregular heartbeat.

Hope this helps.
