I am 21 and married. Since this forum said "high school and college" and I am college aged, I figured I would post this here:

I do not have any of the typical symptoms of PCOS. I am 5'5 and 108lbs. I am not particularly hairy and have maybe one or two pimples a month. I did, however, have tons of cysts on my ovaries last year when I went to my OBGYN and told him my mom has PCOS and I thought I did too. My ovaries looked like honeycombs there were so many cysts on there!

I'm just curious a) how many women out there are like me and b) how are you taking care of your PCOS?

Hi Starr, and welcome to the boards!

Certainly, there are "Thin Cysters" here, although to have few symptoms besides the cysts is unusual. How did your OBGYN diagnose your PCOS? Did he take any bloodwork, or did he just rely on the family history and the ultrasound? There are some other conditions that can mimic PCOS or cause multiple mini-cysts like with PCOS, and they really need to be ruled out, first.

An endocrinologist might be able to give you a better diagnosis as well as treatment as they are the metabolic specialists, and many of the possible causes of multiple cysts are really metabolic in nature (the main ones are either adrenals, thyroid, or Insulin Resistance-based).

Take care, and I hope this helps!!! Make sure to read the FAQ's sticky at the top of this board for some more info on PCOS and some ideas on what you can do to help it.
