knut- you are so close- how are you feeling?

Cammy- My u/s looked pretty good he was almost 6 lbs and his body was a few days behind my due date, his head was a few days ahead of my due date. The u/s tech didnt really give me much info. Of course my doc didnt look at it. I go in again tuesday and will ask the doc to actually look at the u/s. I agree with what you said about giving birth to 10lb babies. We can do it, and they are not always right anyways! a friend of mine with GD had bother her kinds under 7 lbs and she said she didnt control her blood sugars that well. Another person I know doesnt have GD and supposedly had a big baby. Technology is better but not perfect. I would like to avoid a c-section and induction as well. I am really wishing now I would have looked into a doula. I think we will be fine!

On an unrelated note... my little brother knocked up his girlfriend... and they decided to tell people now. My Dh was not happy that they couldnt have waited a few more weeks to tell until after we had our LO. I know it will not be the same for my parents now looking at our LO thinking another LO is on the way.... I think there will be a shotgun wedding...I do really like his girlfriend and they are both halfway through college, but both live at home, noone has insurance, ect really not a good time. My brother was in a bad motorcycle accident about 3 years ago and still has to have surgeries on his foot...O well... just wanted to vent.

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

ggill Glad your ultrasound looks good! :)

tryin I'm exhausted and really feeling done, lol. We have our u/s on Monday to check her size. If she's big, we get to have her soon, so a part of me is hoping she's big. LOL!

DH and I are starting our nightly walking. I figure if we start now, maybe I'll be ready to have this baby in a week! I am really hoping so. I'm getting so sore lately and not sleeping hardly at all. :(

hi everyone. I just had to pop on here and vent for a sec. I am having a miserable weekend due to a terrible head/chest cold. I'm beyond miserable and wondering what else I can take to relieve the pressure in my head. I've been taking Robitussin for the chest congestion and that is better, but now I have extreme pressure in my head and can't breathe very well. What to do? I called the pharmacy and they said to take benadryl, but can I take that with the robitussin? What about with tylenol too? Does anyone know? I never get sick and hardly ever take meds, but I feel like my head will explode. Thank you for your advice!!!

ggill-great! We can do it. I'm sure we'll all do just fine.

Tino- Try a netty pot. I'm not sure if they sell the "netty" brand everywhere, but it has been becoming more popular lately and they have similar ones available. As a solution, regular saline water is safe. I haven't had to use it cause I don't really get sick, knock on wood, but my parents have both tried it to relieve head pressure and it's worked like a charm. Good luck, hope u feel better.

Tino-I'm sorry your not feeling well. I just wanted to let you know that tylenol and benadryl are okay to take while pregnant. I use it sometimes to help me get rest. My ob is just fine with it. I hope you feel better soon!!!

Knut-I'm working all week and I'm a nurse I had most of last week off and relaxed. I'm hoping that being on my feet this week will help labor along and once I hit 37 weeks I will be ready. Not to much longer!!

ggil-Glad your U/S looked good. I'm really hoping that my LO doesn't have a big head as well. I don't want to end up with a c/s either. I guess I will just go with the flow.

Wow!! February already!! So many of you will be having your LOs soon!! I can also start saying "I'm due next month" :p LOL

Tino -- I hear you on the cold... I was sick for like 3 weeks with a horrible flu and felt miserable because I could barely take anything, but as Bizzi said, you can take tylenol and benadryl. In my case I had a lot of congestion in my sinuses and ear and my GP also gave me a nasal stuff called Rhinocort Aqua and a Z-pack... my OB said both were safe during pregnancy so I took them. They helped a bit with the congestion but you need a prescription to get either of them.

So DH and I assembled the glider/ottoman set :D and the corner shelf for Paul's room... we also went to IKEA and got some simple wall shelves that DH will paint today and install next weekend (we cannot paint the walls of the nursery due to leasing office policies, so we'll add some color with shelves and frames). We also (finally!!) finished moving out of Paul's room some extra pieces of furniture that didn't belong there, so it's looking more and more ready :D yay!

Have a nice weekend everyone!

Vero Congrats on being so productive! :) All my energy is gone, LOL, and just reading that made me sleepy. ;)

Bizzi Good luck with the being on your feet! I am trying to walk as much as possible and hoping for something to happen. This is going to be worse than the 2ww!!! http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/24.gif

Cammy & ggill As long as the baby is doing fine, there's nothing that says we can't try to have these "big" babies. :) Good luck to you both!

Is it Monday yet?! Seriously, I can't wait to see how big Hailey is and finally be full-term!

meggiebeth2
02-01-2009, 03:46 PM
Knut- I hear ya on the 2ww, lol...I was thinking the same thing!

Vero- Congrats on getting more done with little Paul's room! It makes me happy every step closer we get to finishing Griffin's room because I just feel it's that much sooner for him to come!

Tino- I'm sorry your so sick, I hope you feel better soon! Chamomile Tea with a little honey helped me + the tylenol, benedryl, and the netty pot is great too!

Cammy and Ggill- I am so nervous about having a big baby too, I just have no clue and I wish I could get an answer from my ob's their just saying "don't worry it will be fine"....doesn't help that I am so anti c-section(of course I'll do it if I have too..but ughh!)

Good luck these next few weeks everyone! I'm so excited!!!!

02-01-2009, 09:47 PM
Meggie- I would have rather heard that! I was so at ease until they made a big deal out of the baby's measurements. Frankly, I think it's useless that they scared the crap out of me, yet they are giving him till his due date to be born spontaneously. What the heck? Why scare me now then? If he was soooo huge, and they were sure of this, they would have scheduled something. All they did was schedule an ultrasound 3 days before his due date. Relax, and convince yourself you can birth a 15 pounder. lol That's what I'm trying to do.

knutfugget
02-02-2009, 11:14 AM
Cammy You're right - if he was really so big and they were that concerned, they would have scheduled something. With Nate, as soon as the ultrasound confirmed he was "large", they were talking induction dates, lol. Try not to worry about it too much! I'm sure everything will work out the way it's supposed to. :)

Meggie It's definitely hard not to worry AFTER they've gone on about how big the baby is. Babies in general are tending to be larger these days. To me, that says that our bodies are probably going to adjust to fit the bigger babies! Maybe not, but that is what medical intervention is for, lol. Still hoping none of us will need more than what we're willing to handle! :) I've been reading up on c-sections, just in case, so that I won't be so scared if it happens. Good to be prepared for all the outcomes, I guess. ;)

We're officially full-term!!! http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/36.gif

Ultrasound today at 1:30! Can't wait to see Hailey and figure out how big she is. And dang it, there had better be some kind of progress with my cervix today or I'm having a hissy fit! http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/10.gif

Knut -- Congrats on making it to term!! :) and good luck at your u/s... can't wait to hear how it went!!

About energy levels... I have some days in which I barely move from the couch to the bathroom and back, while others I could paint the whole apartment myself! LOL I hope the energy will last at least until the nursery is ready, because I can totally feel my bursts of energy lasting shorter and shorter... and Paul's kicks are very painful these days!! I hope he'll be nicer with his mommy once he is out! ;)

Meggie -- Try not to worry too much... most of the instructors at our Childbirth classes told us that usually mother nature does not make babies that are WAY too big for their moms... and I'm sure if your LO was really too big, they would have told you something ;) I understand the concern though!! I was also worried before I got my sizing u/s because I'm very small and DH's family tend to have large babies.

So last night we came back after going to a bunch of places... and we found our cat "gliding" on Paul's room :p it was REALLY funny because I think he was partly having fun and partly confused about the fact that the seat was moving. I just hope I won't have to fight with him later on to be able to sit there!

I hope all of you have a great week and month! I like february... DH makes crepes this month because it's a french tradition :D so I expect to have some soon!! :p

Tino
02-02-2009, 04:07 PM
hi again, thank you all for your advice. :) I tried the netty pot, but I think it clogged up my ears somehow. :( I'm thinking my next thing to try will be benadryl because I'm getting desperate. I just don't want to hurt my LO! I read on the internet about taking antihistamines during the last trimester and it said that it can cause seizures in infants. My doc says you can take sudafed, but I've heard it can reduce blood flow to the placenta. In the mean time, misery continues.

Quick appt update. :)

Weight: +0 (24 total)
Blood pressure: 140/100 (high), after NST 134/82 (ok)
Baby's HB: 140's
Abdomen: 38.5 cm, but 36 by u/s
Position: head down (engaged!!!)
Dilation: 2 cm (yay!)
Effacement: 50% (yay!)

So, Hailey is NOT huge. She's actually a little small. I'm told she's "normal size" for her gestational age. They estimate her to be 5 lbs 12 oz (just a little under 6 lbs) and that she'll be a healthy 6 lb baby when she makes her way into the world. They did say it was hard to get her measurements because of the fluid, so she might already be 6 lbs. Again, I'm told this is "normal" and she should be just fine.

Between my blood pressure and them wanting to keep a close eye on Hailey, I'm being moved to twice weekly NSTs instead of just weekly like I've been doing. I scheduled the rest of them right up until my due date to make sure I got my favorite appt time for all of them. http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/10.gif

The exciting news is how much progress we've made this past week! The doctor and nurse said that I should have Hailey within the next two weeks, maybe even next week. I'm a little scared about how small she seems, but also feeling very ready to meet our little girl (which, by the way, is definitely a girl, we checked again.).

WOW! The boards were busy over the weekend:)

Vero - Sounds like you had a productive weekend. That's funny about your cat too - it's so funny to think what must go through their minds :)

Knut - That's great news about your appointment today. I'm glad that she is measuring where she should be, and I don't think you can confirm the gender too many times :) We have had 4 ultrasounds since 17 weeks, and I had them check again in all of them to make sure it was a girl! All of my sister's children were born at 36-37 weeks weighing 6 lbs, and all were healthy and didn't need any special care. It sounds like you might have an early valentine's day gift :)

For those of us having little ones close to valentine's day, we will need to remind their significant others when they get older that a birthday and V-day are TWO SEPARATE HOLIDAYS - meaning TWO GIFTS :) My Mom reminded me of this today because her b-day is the same week as valentine's day!

As for me, I had my 36 week appointment this morning, and was checked for the first time. I am 1cm dialated, 50% effaced, and she is at 0 station!!! I was shocked! I know it's a good thing that I am making progress, but it makes me a little more nervous at the same time! I am definitely ready though.

Has anyone been on Metformin while nursing? I really would like to get back on Metformin as soon as possible because it helped me feel so much healthier. I just haven't read or heard anything about that. Insight would be appreciated!

I hope everyone else is doing well. I can't believe how close we all are getting to holding our babies!!!!

Melly- Congrats to you too, not too long now!

Melly-There are several women that are on Met right now through their pregnancy and will continue on it through bf'ing (Knut is one of them, I believe). Hopefully she and others will chime in. I would LOVE to go back on Met after I give birth too, but have to find a doctor that will let me (I know my OB probably won't). I am a diabetic and would rather not continue insulin!

Vero
02-03-2009, 10:35 AM
Melly -- I plan on asking the same question to my OB. I would like to be at least at a minimum dose of Met (used to take 1000 mg, but I would be happy if they let me take at least 500 mg for a while) as soon as possible. It really made a difference for me, helped me control some of my symptoms and I felt much better overall (of course, once I got used to it! LOL).

Not that much going on here... I think I'll make some lasagna for my freezer stash (and dinner tonight) and rest a bit. I'm getting tired so fast lately!

Does anyone else is SO short of breath that it actually HURTS? (well not hurt as in "OMG, I'm going to die", but it makes my chest and upper back very sore) I'm getting that nearly every evening lately and it's quite annoying, but it goes away after I rest.

Hope everyone has a great day! :D

I am very excited and wanted to share, during my shower today I noticed leakage from my left breast. I would love to BF but since I had a breast reduction 5 years ago everyone (docs, LC) has told my wait and see, and not to get my hopes up. But now I am very excited, I hope something happens on the other side soon! I called my LC but didn't get an answer. I do not know if I should try to manually express anything, or just let it be. Anyways that is my exciting news for the day! I have my apt in an hour and I am hoping to be dilated or something,

Vero
02-03-2009, 02:17 PM
ggill -- that's great news :) but I WOULDN'T TOUCH IT!! nipple estimulation can bring painful contractions and put your baby on distress (at least that's what everyone told me), so just let it leak but don't do anything to express it.... HTH

knutfugget
02-03-2009, 02:19 PM
ggill Congrats on the leakage!

Melly I've been on Met this entire pg and will be taking it while attempting to bf as well. I took it while bf Nate, too, but not during the pregnancy with him. As long as the dose is 1000 mgs or less, it's considered safe for breastfeeding. :) Women with PCOS are also prone to nursing problems and the Met can possibly help with that (which is why I started taking it while nursing in the first place). HTH!

I know I'm falling behind on personals again, but I caught Nate's cold and feel like crap. Hope you're all doing well!

Vero

ggill
02-03-2009, 05:15 PM
So much for being dilated or anything... Nothing had changed from last week. My doc had to reach pretty high, he said my cervix is way up there, which felt great... He thinks I may have a smaller pelvis and may need a c-section. He wants me to go as long as possible to let nature run its course as long as my sugars are ok, but we need to keep that in the back of our minds I guess. Not what I wanted to hear. Also I have not really had any contractions and he said that was OK, but contractions are a good sign, so I would think not having contractions is not a good sign.... O well, good thing I am flexible. Everything else was good,

Knut- I hope you are feeling better especially if Hailey could come next week!

Vero
02-04-2009, 09:58 AM
ggill -- sorry about the lack of progress and the possible c-section :( **hugs**

knut -- hope you are feeling better today! please try to post at some point so that we don't think you are in labor already :p

Ggill-Sorry about lack of progress!! I did not have any contractions by 38 weeks with Jayna either (besides the very few braxton hick's here and there). How are your sugar levels?? As far as a c-section goes, they aren't as bad as some make them out to be. I totally missed out on a natural birth, labor, etc....but my c-section was a breeze and probably better than the pitocin they were ready to give me!

Vero-LOL..by the time I get here, half of you will be ready to have your babies!!

Melly652
02-04-2009, 10:24 AM
Peakkm & Knut - Thanks for the info on Metformin and bf'ing. I definitely want to do all I can to help, and I just felt SOO much better when I was on the Metformin.

Ggill - Congrats on the leakage! The hot water of a shower must do something, because that's when I notice leakage too.

Vero - I'm here :)

Well, after being checked on Monday, my OB said that I might have some spotting and/or cramping. Well, I started spotting yesterday, and have continued through this morning. I'm also having some pretty strong menstral type cramps. So, I wasn't so concerned. Now, I'm having the tightening contractions along with all of this. I called my OB and they said just to time them, and if they get to 5-7 minutes apart, then to call back and they'll get me in for monitoring. SO....I've been timing contractions for the last few hours. So far, they are anywhere from 4 to 10 minutes apart. I know this is my first, but I just have a feeling that something is going on. The good news is that I have our bags packed and in the car :)

Vero
02-04-2009, 10:35 AM
Yay Melly! Glad you are still here :) and wow!! keep us posted about your contractions!

Peak -- you are moving here next week right??? I'll still be here for a little while (hopefully just a little!), but it's true, Ggill, Melly, Knut and Cammy are almost there! (sorry if I'm missing someone else who is ready to pop... pregnancy brain)

I started packing my bags (DH was freaking out because I hadn't started yet), but I still need to put some stuff that I use everyday (like slippers, bathrobe, etc). Paul's bag is ready though!

Any recommendations on a GOOD and INEXPENSIVE nursing bra?? I only have a sports-type one that I use to sleep because otherwise my bbs are too painful during the night, but I definitely need to get a couple of "real" nursing bras...

peakkm
02-04-2009, 10:55 AM
Melly-YEA!!! Hoping something happens for you with the contractions!

Vero-I'll be here by next week (lol...if not before). No ideas on the nursing bras...I bought a couple of tanks from Target with Jayna and one cheapo bra from Wal-Mart, but never really used them. LOL about the packing of bags...mine will be packed the night before or something :) I'm not planning on taking much of anything...I way overpacked last time, so I kinda know what I will need/not need.

Good luck Melly keep us informed!!!

On the subject of packing bags...I have mine packed and Brayden's but for those of you who live in cold weather. What are you using to bring your LO home in? and are you bringing a blanket or two? I just want to make sure he will be warm enough incase it is -30 or something here.

peakkm
02-04-2009, 11:08 AM
Bizzi-Do you have a bunting for the infant carrier? That might be the best, but if not, just use tons of blankets! Have DH warm the car up before you head out to it and cover the baby with a blanket and put a blanket over the carrier so no drafts get in and he should be just fine! I live in warmer weather, but we traveled to WI in when Jayna was 5 weeks old in the middle of a storm! It was freezing and we couldn't find a winter suit small enough for her, so we just used blankets and she stayed nice and toasty!

knutfugget
02-04-2009, 11:12 AM
Bizzi I picked a multi-layer outfit and a light coat for Hailey. Also, I have a bunting thing that goes over the carseat and I can add blankets to that if I get really paranoid about her being cold, lol.

I packed a warm blanket and then the snuggle I crocheted her just because I want her to have it from day one. :)

Peak Congrats on moving over boards!

Melly I'm so jealous that you might have your baby today, lol! Good luck! :)

Vero No idea on the nursing bra. I had some last time and still spent most of my time in camis or tank tops...

And here is my daily post that I am not yet in labor. Gah, it feels like I will be here forever at this point, lol.

***
Even with my cold, I am seriously considering taking a loooong walk today to see if we can get things going. Lately, even if I'm only on my feet for 5-10 minutes, I get contractions and start losing more "goop" (so, hopefully dilating more!). To me, that says this baby is about as ready as I am to get this show on the road! ;) I just worry about her being so dang small... :(

02-04-2009, 11:21 AM
Vero - I bought a couple from Motherhood, and they are nice. I think I paid $20 for each. I also got one from Target, and I actually like it better. There wasn't much of a selection there though, so it was difficult finding my size. That's why I went to Motherhood. My ribs have spread so much that I'm a 40C now, and I think that's an odd size.

Jessi-LOL, I'm not quite 27 weeks yet, but I might as well be here already! I get 2 weeks cut-off my third tri! You won't be here forever!! Hailey will make her appearance very soon, get out and walk!!!!

Melly-40C is an ackward size to find...I have those issues! But XL nursing tanks from Target worked well and Wal-Mart sold that size too! I'll have to check Motherhood out.

Vero
02-04-2009, 12:14 PM
On packing bags... I hope I won't take too many things... I'll use the gowns from the hospital since I don't want to stain mine! :p so basically I'm packing toiletries, warm socks, slippers, bath robe, my going-home outfit (some yoga pants and a t-shirt, nothing fancy!), underwear and maxi pads, the baby book, my iPod, some snacks for DH... I think I'll also take my nursing pillow so that the LC can teach me how to use it properly... and I'm not sure yet if I'll take my birthing ball or not. If I'm missing something that you feel it's VERY IMPORTANT, please let me know!

For Paul I have a couple of outfits (with hat, bib and burp cloths), a few NB diapers/wipes, a cotton blanket and the blankie I made for him :)

On nursing bras... I also have an ODD size... I'm 32C, REALLY hard to find 32!!! the smallest I've found is a 34C but I feel as if my chest is dancing inside LOL :p I'll check again at a larger Target/Wal-Mart or go to Motherhood and see if I have better luck there! Thanks for the advice :)

Vero-Seems like you have it pretty much covered. I had a c-section and Jayna had issues so we were in the hospital from Sunday-Wednesday. By Monday I was wanting to be in regular clothes though!!!! So you may want to pack some regular clothes you can wear...you may be bleeding, but it may not be so bad. I would bring a nursing bra as well...oh and breast pads!!!! You might also want to bring your own pillow...the hospital ones can be rough sometimes! If you live close to the hospital, remember you can always send DH home to get things!

Melly652
02-04-2009, 04:25 PM
peakkm - I have a couple of the XL nursing tanks from Target. They are very comfortable and I have a feeling I'll be wearing them a lot.

Well, we ended up going to the hospital to be monitored and checked. I was having contractions, but nothing regular enough for them to admit me. I'm also still at 1cm dialated. She said it's probablly early labor, so I get to just wait at home. The contractions are definitely uncomfortable with a constant menstral type cramp underlying the pain. I just hope this either turns into something soon, or goes away all together - I don't want to be like this for 3 more weeks!

Melly I don't want to get you TOO down, but I've been having that same thing since this weekend, lol. It IS dilating me, just REALLY slowly (went from a fingertip to 2 cm so far). Hopefully neither of us will be waiting much longer to meet these babies! I am going nuts already just wanting the pain to go away or finish its job! ;)

Tink- Good thinking on the camera. When my water broke at 33 weeks I had nothing packed at all. I talked to a friend online really quickly and she said, "Whatever you do, don't forget your camera!" I would have forgotten it if she had not said that! I am so glad that I talked to her. I really didn't bring much more because I could always send DH home because we only live a few miles from the hospital. I brought a going home outfit for me (I knew my baby wouldn't be coming home with me so I didn't worry about that at that time since I knew I could deal with it after I was out of the hospital), a robe, some toiletries and the camera and that was about it.

The boards have been busy! unlike my cervix.... Melly and Knut I am jealous you guys will be seeing your LOs so soon! I feel like I have to wait forever.. I also found a couple nursing tanks at walmart which looked comfy, I am like Peak and like the idea of holding everything in..I think I am pretty much packed I plan on wearing the gowns more, like vero, so I dont ruin my stuff, but I have a couple sets of pjs and a going home outfit, sweats and a long sleeved shirt.

Good luck Melly and Knut- I hope we hear something soon!

Okay, ggill, you're not alone. I don't like to be checked, so I passed at my last visit. I have no idea if I'm dilating or not, but I sure am going nuts!!!! I want to think something is going on, but I am really starting to think I'll be pregnant forever. My baby is SUPER active all the time, and it has somehow convinced me that he's still not done having fun in there. :o

I feel pressure down low, but he's also very playful up really high with his feet, and I don't know what to think. I have a very small amount of patience, and everything is very irritating. I try to relax, but I can't. I remember I used to think, "Why is it so hard to wait?", when I saw anxious preggos. lol I am now a spokesperson for that group of women.

On Tuesday I have another appt., but me and my wishful thinking. I want to go into labor before that. If he's so big, as they tell me, then I guess he's ready. lol I'm not making sense anymore, I just wanna see him. :(

Cammy & ggill Don't get too down! You could be the type that just dilates like crazy once labor starts. :)

Melly I've been having contractions all night, but not labor yet. *sigh* It helps me deal with the pain/uncomfortableness knowing it IS doing something, but I just wish it'd hurry up and be over with already!

***
Bit of "excitement" tonight. I can tell my BP is really high tonight and I know it's stress. My son was in a car accident (he was with his grandparents, they took him for icecream). He's alright (thank GOD!) and nobody else was hurt, either, but I can't stop thinking of what could have happened. He's only just a baby and we could have lost him. :( I would LOVE to slap the stupid teenager that hit my in-laws for not paying attention. Ugh!

Other than that, my cold is less horrible than yesterday. Hoping it'll be pretty much gone by tomorrow :).

Contractions keep coming steadily for a good hour or so and then let up again, only to come back. It'd be nice if they'd just stick around and get the job done. ;)

Knut - I'm so glad to hear that no one was hurt. I would say that warrants some high BP! It is probablly a good thing that you weren't there - that teen may not be alive :)

I have been having contractions all night also. The exact same thing - steady for an hour or so, and then they die off. They are becoming more intense though. I also think I'm losing my mucus plug, or something - a little bit of blood (brown) with thick snot like mucus. Who knows. I've given up on timing contactions and I guess I'll "know" when it's real labor.

Hope everyone else is having a good morning!

Melly and Knut -- Sending some dilation vibes your way!! Hopefully it will all be over soon and you'll get to meet your LOs in the next days! :)

Knut -- I'm so glad Nate and everybody else is fine... how scary!!! stupid teenager! I hope your BP goes back to normal soon... **hugs**

Cammy and Ggill -- Hopefully as Knut said, you'll dilate very soon once labor starts... keeping my fingers crossed for you ;)

Peak, Tink and Sarah -- Thanks for the extra tips on the bag. I had forgotten to mention the camera LOL, but actually I think DH packed it like 2 months ago :p both sets of grandparents would literally KILL him if he forgets the camera since none of them will be able to come to the hospital...

I think I'll pass by Wal-Mart this weekend and check their nursing tanks :) I also plan on getting a Lilypadz, the LC at my hospital recommended it and it has good reviews... anyone used it??

So DH told me yesterday that his co-workers want to organize us a small baby-shower (just the 10-12 people that work directly with him), during lunch time two weeks from Friday :) yay! So now I REALLY need to clean up my registry LOL (we were using it just as a "wish list" for ourselves). I want to include some small-tag items as well, but since we didn't know we were going to be getting presents, I don't know what else to add... any suggestions of items that were life-savers for the experienced moms would be greatly appreciated! :D

Have a great day!

Vero-That is awesome about the shower! I would just go and add a bunch of small ticket items (whether you need them or not)...you can always return what is on your registry and get gift certificates to buy what you need after the baby comes.

Melly and Knut-Hopefully it won't be too much longer for the both of you!!!

Cammy- I know what you mean about patience, I think he is going to stay in forever too. My doc did remind me I cant stay pregnant forever. I just wish I could know what was going to happen and when, but it doesn't work that way!

Knut- I am so glad to hear everyone was OK! High BP is understandable, Sometimes I think teens shouldn't get the license until age 20!

Vero- The shower will be awesome! have you gotten all your bath stuff? Also you could register for creams, lotions ect that you will use. I didn't get enough butt creams, so I need more already. A friend recommended sheet savers, she said they were awesome, I cant use them on my crib style but if your crib has bars all the way around they would work for you. Oh I also didn't get any plain onesies to wear as undershirts from my showers. You might not need them in Texas, but here in Ohio I want to layer.

Melly- Sounds like things are happening, maybe this weekend!

I know there are a few of you ladies that have gestational diabetes/diabetes and I was reading Dr. Jack Newman's breastfeeding book and it had some great info, so I thought I'd share so that breastfeeding can be a success! I wish I had read it before I had Jayna!! Sorry if this is repeat info for anyone, but though it was important (and not trying to scare any of you ladies)!

First off, the tighter control we have, the better for the baby (we all know that!). If your sugar levels are higher for an extended period of time, it is quite possible the baby will be hypoglycemic when born (Jayna sure was). The babies pancreas is producing insulin while in utero..and if your sugar levels are high, the baby is producing more than needed to counteract your sugar levels. Once they are born, it takes time for their pancreas to realize it doesn't need to produce as much (hence the reason for low blood sugar). More than likely they will be doing heel sticks on the baby every couple of hours to test their sugar levels. Dr. Jack Newman talks about how the heel sticks may or may not be accurate. Test strips were meant to test HIGH blood sugar, not LOW! Secondly, he said that no one knows what the sugar levels of a baby should be exactly, but the heel sticks can give a good general idea though (obviously if the results are dropping, the babies blood sugar is dropping). Most nurses, doctors, etc. say you HAVE to give them formula. This is NOT true!!! Do not bottle feed right away if you want breastfeeding to be a success (now it still can be a success if you give them a bottle though). There are tons of other ways to feed a baby that has lower blood sugars other than a bottle. Dr. Newman recommends putting in an IV to the baby w/ glucose water. Jayna had this done and although the IV was a pain when moving her around, etc...it helped! The glucose water will keep their sugar levels up and once they are off to a good start breastfeeding, it can be removed. Formula is actally bad for babies with a diabetic mother....it causes the pancreas to produce more insulin, which can result in lower blood sugar!! Breastmilk is better as it doesn't cause the pancreas to produce more insulin. He also recommended expressing colostrum 2-3 weeks before delivery so that if your baby doesn't latch on and feed right away, you have something to feed the baby (not via bottle though). Definitely talk with you doctor before doing this as nipple stimulation can bring on contractions (his book does mention the rate of that happening is very slim though).

Alright, I think that is mostly what was said. I found it very interesting and helpful. I had an emergency c-section and didn't get to hold my baby for an hour due to being in recovery (I was put under, since the spinal block didn't go). Now, in a perfect world, the baby will latch on right away and have on issues at all...but in case something does go differently, there are other options! I was pretty much forced to bottle feed Jayna and she refused to latch on...bottles are so much easier to drink from for a baby and they know it, so they refuse the breast!

Vero - That is so nice of DH's co-workers! I agree with ggill - make sure to register for a lot of the everyday stuff. We pretty much put anything on there that we would buy - because we can get a discount on it later.

Vero
02-05-2009, 04:58 PM
Thanks for the tips on the registry :) I kept all the stuff we planned to buy later on (like activity tables, some toys and a high chair), and added some small ticket items that we can either use or exchange... I have NO idea if they plan on buying us something large together or do individual gifts, so I wanted to have stuff for both options...

I feel SO uncomfortable today!! I have this horrible pressure on my ribs, I can only breathe if I stretch my arms up or if I'm walking (but then, if I walk too much I get BH... lovely!), started getting "electric shocks" down there and my lower back pain is here again... the wonders of the last few weeks! (hopefully just FEW weeks! :p)

I'm sorry to complain... I guess you girls must be feeling as (if not more) uncomfortable than me, but I needed to complain to someone!! DH has ear pain, I think he is getting some sort of ear infection and you know how men are when they feel a little sick... they are worse than babies!! LOL

peak- Thanks for the info on GD and BF. I didn't even think about it! I am going to call my LC tomorrow and ask if she has any advice as well. I am a little stressed about BF. I feel like I have too many strikes against me due to the reduction, pcos, and now GD. I am going to ask the LC about the expressing colostrum now, my mom thought maybe I should try pumping now too...

peakkm
02-05-2009, 06:43 PM
Ggill-I was just getting ready to tell you not to pump, but you're full-term! It can definitely bring on intense labor contractions though...so in the end it might be painful. Hand expressing would probably be the best way...you aren't going to get a whole lot, but maybe enough to get the baby started the first day (since their tummies are the size of a marble). I also had no idea how many problems I'd face with diabetes!! I have no idea how to store it though.

Melly652
02-05-2009, 06:45 PM

Still getting contractions every night, still no baby. Will try to get caught up on personals tomorrow maybe. Just feeling tired and whatnot.

Hailey's NST did not go great today. I was there for over 2 hours because she wasn't moving at all for a long time. She did finally get active, but it was scary when she wasn't moving. In happier news, BP was 122/66 today, so that's good.

Melly652

Knut - I'm also still having a ton of contractions, but apparantly they aren't doing anything. I am definitely feeling the effects of them though. Hopefully we will both have our little girls soon!

They said that if I keep on having contractions like this and don't have Allison by Monday they might look into inducing me. I had one round of contractions that were 2-3 minutes apart for an hour and a half last night, but then they died off. I can't keep going on like this much longer!

Knut and Melly -- sending some efficient labor vibes to both of you!! Hopefully those contractions will start to work! :p (I may ask for my vibes back in a few weeks! ;))

I'm still having really annoying rib pain, particularly on my left side... to be fair it's not really PAIN, it's more like a feeling as if I have something stuck in there (probably one of Paul's feet! LOL). It gets better if I'm laying down or walking, but I cannot be doing that the whole day!

DH's ear pain got REALLY bad this morning :( he was nearly screaming, and the worse part is that he cannot make it to the doctor until Monday because he is in training the whole week and there is no way he can leave for an appointment... so he is just taking Ibuprofen and hoping for the best!

Hope to hear some news about those two little girls soon!! :)

Vero-Is it possible for him to go to an after hours clinic?? Ear infections are nothing to mess around with as they can cause major issues!

Knut-Jayna was never very active during her NST's...they would have to come in and use this thing to wake her up, it created this loud buzzing noise/vibration.

Hope you and Melly have your little girls soon!!!

Melly They will seriously induce you right at 37 weeks?! My doctor said it "wasn't safe" and that they won't even consider it until I'm past 39 weeks. I am so going to cry if I am still having contractions for another week and a half and they just let you get this over with, lol. http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/24.gif

Nothing really new to report. I had contractions off and on ALL NIGHT last night and still no baby. :( They went from 10 minutes apart to 5 minutes apart and I was getting my hopes up... then they just crapped out and quit, AGAIN. At this rate, I think we'll be planning her 1st birthday party in my uterus. Those ought to be colorful invites, eh? ;) *sigh*

Vero - Hopefully they can get DH into your GP. He needs to be well enough to take care of you!

Knut - I was suprised when they mentioned inducing me also. Apparantly the contractions I'm having SHOULD be doing something, but they aren't. How uncomfortable are your contractions? Can you walk through them? Hopefully something will happen for both of us this weekend. My family has requested for me to go in on Saturday around noon LOL :) I alomost wish that my water would break just so I would know "this is it".

By the way, DH found out that we are not moving to Singapore. We are a little disappointed, but glad that we will be close to family for atleast the first year of Allison's life.

My apt went well today. Passed the NST with flying colors, good BP, and my doc actually took time to look at my u/s, he is my fav of the practice. LO is right on in size and not to big, his head is down to 40th percentile, quite a relief! I asked about my cervix and no contractions and he discussed having an induction and if it doesn't work then a c-section. I went ahead and am scheduled to be induced on 2/17! I am going to freak out now! He doesn't want me to go pass my due date due to the GD. They actually were going to schedule the induction for 2/16 but I like the doc much better who is working on 2/17. I think the doc working on 2/16 is c-section happy, he is the one who mentioned it in the first place, and our church is having a valentines dinner on 2/16, so DH and I can have a final night out! I am so excited! It seems totally unreal...

Melly- Sorry to hear about Singapore, but it will be nice to be around family! I hope your water breaks this weekend as well!

Knut-your contractions sound miserable and make me sort of glad I am not having any. I hope they pick up soon and your LO gets here next week! Also glad your BP is down!

Vero- I hope DH feels better! I hate ear infections, they are miserable

Melly They are getting pretty bad these days. Just in the last few days they are coming more often and hurting a lot more. I was on the couch not wanting to try to walk through them last night. I was so hopeful that was going to be it because they were getting closer together and really starting to hurt. *sigh* I was already at 2cm on Monday so I don't know how much more dilating they can be doing without bothering to put me into active labor. :(

Hi girls, thanks for your concern about my DH. He is really miserable at his training today, but the good news is that I checked with our insurance (this is a new insurance so I wasn't sure about some of the coverage... I hate insurance companies LOL) and they told me that we can also go to the walk-in clinics (those from Walgreens, I think they are call the Take Care Clinics) and there is one like 3 miles from home that is open tonight and during the weekend, so as soon as DH is back from training we'll go there. I really hope they will be able to give us an answer because his pain is getting really really bad! He was telling me yesterday "I feel so bad of being sick... I'm the one who is supposed to take care of you and not the other way around!"... poor DH :(

Knut and Melly -- I really hope your contractions will start doing something!! I bet it must be frustrating to be in pain and then... nothing  keep us posted if you end up in L&D this weekend!! I should give you my phone number just in case... :p

Ggill -- Congrats on getting an eviction date! LOL :p and I think it's a great idea to have a final "date" with DH... we plan on doing something like that in a few weeks :)

I'm having some contractions (mostly BH I think but sometimes they get a bit painful), but of course nothing regular enough to grant a call to my doctor... I have an appointment next Wednesday, but I'm not sure she'll check me yet, since I'll be only 34 weeks by then... I have another appointment two weeks from Wednesday and then I start going every week...

Have a great weekend!! :D

So DH and I went to the Take Care Clinic last night... he has TWO infections in his ear :( not only his ear canal is infected, but also his ear drum, that's why he gets the dull-constant pain and also the acute-stabbing-like one. They gave him two antibiotics, an oral one and one in drops, plus ibuprofen and mucinex (because apparently he is also getting his sinuses infected), so hopefully he'll feel better soon.

Not that much to add here... just the same old contractions, pelvic pressure on and off and rib pressure as well...

Ggill, Melly, Knut and Cammy... keep us posted! don't go into labor without letting us know! :p LOL

Ggill-You have a date! OMG! I wish I had a date, but one for natural labor without induction. lol

About going into labor...who knows when thats gonna happen. I have no aches or pains except for constant period like cramps that are very dull. Other than that? Nada. Maybe I still need weeks, or I just won't get any signs and it'll happen suddenly.

And no worries on me ending up in labor anytime soon, I'm afraid. I am seriously starting to think I'll be the very last one to go. *sigh* I don't think this baby is EVER coming out and they want to induce at 39 weeks if she hasn't come (because of my gd or something or other). So much for getting my natural labor? :(

Wow! The boards have been BUSY!

Jenny- welcome to the third tri!

knut- I'm so sorry to hear that your son and parents were in a car accident. It's comforting to know that everyone is fine, though. As far as getting labor going, I thought the 10+ miles would have definitely done it.

Cammy- I was told to call my OB if I had period like cramps because those can make you dilate... maybe something is going on.

Vero- what a bummer about your DH having two infections and having to take all those meds, but at least he should start to get some relief soon.

ggill- that's awesome that you have your date scheduled!

That's as far as I can go.

I've been on bedrest for the last week +, but busy working from home on a work project that's taking forever since my virtual work network is really slow. I haven't had much time to read or post. This past friday I was checked and they found that my cervix is 2cm and I'm 1cm dilated. I get checked again tomorrow, but my OB basically said that since I've already had the steroid shots to mature the babies' lungs (when I was in L&D twice last week) that they will not stop labor if it becomes active. We also know that baby A is still breech, so they will immediately do a c-section if I go into labor. So I could go any day. It's a little scary, ok, a lot scary. I'm trying my best to stay in bed/ on the couch, but I'm just plain restless some days. That's all on me for now, but I'll check back soon.

Yeah, I thought the walking would have done it, too, lol. Guessing she's just not ready to come out so I give up.

Tink Well, I have been dying to get Nate's Little People pirate out from under the couch. Maybe I should move that tomorrow? LOL! It's just so weird to have had to do modified bed rest for ages to keep her in and now she won't come out! Stubborn little bugger.

Anybody heard from Melly??? Did she go into labor on us?

Knut -- my great aunt swears for the full moon :p so hopefully this is your week! sending labor vibes your way... keep us posted about the appointment! BTW, I would go for the pedi!! it won't hurt :D (I plan on going for one around March 10th)

Jenny -- welcome to the third tri!!

Dreaming -- sorry about the bed rest and the possibility of going into labor early... hopefully the twins will stay put for a few more weeks! keep us posted...

Melly -- are you in labor?? :p

It's SO HOT here I want to hide in the fridge... I mean, I know Houston hardly ever gets really cold, but this is absurd!! we are again in the 80s :( and heat makes me miserable :p I spent nearly an hour soaking in a cold bath yesterday... I only went out because I started looking like a prune, otherwise I would still be there!

My next appointment is on Wednesday... I guess it will be just a simple and quick one... when did you guys started getting checked?? 34, 36 weeks or later?? I would like to know if all my BH (and few slightly painful contractions) I've been having are doing something for me or not.

I'm still here :)

Dreaming - You are so close! I know it's got to be difficult being on bed rest though. I think I read somewhere that the average birth of twins is at 35 weeks - only a few weeks away!

Knut - I hope your appointment went well today...hopefully some progress! Funny how we try for so long to keep them in there, and then they don't want to come out :)

Vero - My OB started checking me at 36 weeks. I couldn't agree with you more about the Houston heat!! I'm so glad I'm pregnant in the "winter". Could you imagine the summer???!! I'm glad your DH was able to get help over the weekend. hopefully he's feeling better.

We had our weekly appointment this morning, and unfortunately I haven't changed any. She has dropped lower, but I'm still at 1cm. Everything else is great - BP, heart rate, weight, measuring right on, etc. My OB said that if I was making progress, they would do something to keep it up, but because I'm not we just have to wait. She did give me the name of a doula who is a massage therapist to help with all of the pains I've been having. She actually does specialty pregnancy massages to prepare for labor. This will be my valentine's present :)

On a side note, my dogs decided to shred a feather pillow while were out this morning. There were literally feathers everywhere! I'm just glad my DH was with me to help clean it up :) I don't know what got into them!

Vero-Being preggo during the 'winter' is definitely nicer than the summer. My best friend had a baby boy the end of last July and is due with another the end of September this year..she thought the end of July was bad, just wait until August hits, hot and icky here! Jennifer, Vero- I hope you guys are right! But everyone is surprised at how far along I am, and the fact that I still go shopping and walk around like nothing. I swear, I am really comfy. Nothing really hurts or bothers. I will definitely be surprised when I go into labor.

Jessi- And you thought you'd be the last to go! You have a date! Since I don't wanna be induced, and try to have as much of a natural pregnancy/birth as possible, I haven't been checked. I don't know if I should let them check me tomorrow though. Everything I've read says that dilation indicates nothing. That some women dilate for weeks before actual birth, while others only dilate that same day. I don't know what to do. I'm curious, but...

Yay Knut! Your appointment sounds like it went very well, I think you will be beating me to the delivery room!

Melly- That will be an awesome valentines day present! Maybe it will get things moving for you

dreaming-I hope you can hang in there for a few more weeks, at least you can do some work from home to try to pass the time

jennyandkev- Welcome to the third tri!

Vero- I would be miserable in the heat! I turn our temps down to 66 for bed and still sleep uncovered in shorts

I feel OK, a little tired, but mostly bothered by carpal tunnel symptoms and swelling. Also my BP has been a little high. My mom works for my family doc so she checked it yesterday and today for me. I was 142/68 and today 137/70. Also my fingers look like sausages!!! and everyone keeps telling me my nose is bigger! I know but that doesn't mean I want to hear it, especially repeatedly, mostly my mom who thinks it is funny. I will be so glad to have this guy next week! I hope we see some birth stories on here before I go though!

Cammy- I say if there is not a reason to be checked, then don't do it. It just disturbs things and can possibly introduce infection and like you said, it doesn't really tell you much about when you might deliver. I totally understand wanting to know though. Just everything I have read about natural childbirth is that it's so much better not to disturb the cervix more then needed. Now, this is coming from me, who is not even 22 weeks pregnant and has already had my cervix checked twice. DO what YOU feel most comfortable with and want to do. Good luck! I hope you go very soon! No matter what you are getting close!

Knut -- Congrats on the great appointment and on getting an eviction date! yay! I saw the date in the mom's board... I can't believe you are just a couple of days away!! how exciting! :D

Ggill -- Sorry about the HBP! Hopefully your LO will decide to come out soon!

Cammy -- LOL about feeling all comfy... I'm actually not doing too bad with the walking. For instance today I went to do the groceries and got WAY too many things and then had to drag them upstairs (we live in a second floor - no elevator), and I was fine, a bit tired, but fine... what bothers me the most is the rib aches and the fact that there is so little room left inside that if I eat and then I sit, I cannot breathe!! :p

Melly652
02-10-2009, 09:12 AM
Knut - That is great news!! What day are you being induced?

Ggill - Sorry to hear about the bp. The good news is that you are at the very end. I know what you mean about others making comments. Even though I know some things are funny, they don't need to point them out :)

Vero - I could not imagine going to the grocery store now and carrying them upstairs!!! I can barely walk without carrying anything. I get up every morning and do my stretches just to avoid being bed ridden the whole day :)

When we were going through fertility treatments and I would hear people complain about the last few weeks of their pregnancy, I would get so upset - "why are they complaining about being pregnant!". Now I understand :)

Vero
02-10-2009, 10:00 AM
Melly -- I know what you mean about being upset at women who can get pregnant just from the air LOL and then complain about not being comfortable... I used to think the same way! Now that it's my turn I try not to complain too much, but definitely there are days in which I wish I was more comfortable :p

Last night was pretty bad... I guess I over-did it with the groceries  and my ligaments (those that go from the pelvic bone to the inner tight) were KILLING me!!... and I got wide-awake at 3 am :( so today I'm trying to take it easy but Paul seems to be wired in there!!

How is everyone else doing??? Knut, are you "ready"???

02-10-2009, 12:30 PM
Sorry you're all feeling so uncomfortable these days! It definitely is just part of the package, lol. Trying to look on the bright side, these ligaments that feel like they're coming apart - that's supposed to make labor easier later on. ;)

Melly After being 9 months pg with Nate in 100F+ weather... I didn't even wonder why pregnant women were so miserable at the end anymore, lol.

Thursday is our day :). That's the day after tomorrow! I suddenly feel like there a million things I don't have done yet, lol.

ggill Gotta love all the helpful comments towards the end. Some of my favorites are being told I "look like I'm going to pop" or "Are you STILL pregnant?", because that doesn't get old at all, LOL. http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/23.gif

It won't be much longer for you now! Can't wait to see your pictures. :D

Cammy I say if you're that curious to be checked, go ahead. I personally think it's good information to have. If you know what you were at on say Monday, and you're having contractions on Thursday, L&D can see if you've changed at all and know whether or not to send you home, lol. They can always check you right there and wait a few hours to see if it changes, but I don't mind being checked.

Hope your appt goes well today! :)

***
Not much to report here. Just trying to get everything done and ready before Thursday. I'll be making Nate's breakfast the night before so that his grandma can just heat it up for him in the morning. Then he'll still be eating the same breakfast he has with me every day, even though I can't be here to make it for him. :)

Nice bump Mussiette!

I decided not to be checked, and with the chaos at my midwife's office today, it was a good decision. The midwifes I see are in a hospital, same floor as labor and delivery. One of them was off today, and the other kept running back and forth. Not pleasant for me, but glad they put laboring women first.

My baby gets very hyper during NSTs or Doppler exams. He just doesn't stay still at all! I'm determined he hates them. Anyway, he wouldn't stop kicking and squirming around in there, and the midwife said she needed at least 3 minutes of a resting heartbeat. You'd think they'd be happy to see he's active. Well, and hour passed and he wouldn't cooperate. So, she decided to send me for a biophysical ultrasound to get a better look at movements and heartbeat. By the time the tech came to see me for that, he fell asleep! lol He marches to the beat of his own drum, this kid!:D In the end, they got what they needed and they told me he's perfectly healthy. They also said I was contracting and wanted to know if it hurt or not. I was like "I knew those cramps were something!". They don't bother me that much, so I guess its just practice contractions. Hopefully something will happen soon. Send me labor vibes! :p

I had my NST yesterday and my BP was still a little high 140/82. I told the nurse it has been high like that for 3 days in a row, she told me to tell the doc, of course I forgot when he finally came in, and I don't think the doc even looked at my vitals because he didn't say anything. I called this a.m. and have to go back in today to get my bp checked again and have some labs done. Now I am afraid this kid will becoming before 2/17! I don't think today because the office wont get the labs back until tomorrow or Friday, but maybe a V-day baby! Or he will put be on bedrest for the last few days, which would be fine with me! Now I am going to be stressed about what Could happen and send my BP up, ...Also I had a different doc do my internal and he also thought my pelvis was small and there is a good chance for a c-section. Of course I have a small pelvis, my belly is definitely never been small, and I had to surgically reduce my boobs to a C after college, the small pelvis is a cruel joke... I post an update after my appointment, Hope everyone else is doing good!

Musiette-Nice bump!

Sandra-Jayna used to do the same thing. She would be so active before a Biophysical profile and then the second we started it, she would be fast asleep and not move!! She hated NST's as well and they always had to buzz her to wake her up!!

Ggill-Hope you BP is better today!

Alright ladies, I am 'officially' here!!!! I can't believe it...11 weeks left and Jace will be here, this is just completely insane! Hope everyone is doing well!

Nice bump Musiette :D

Cammy -- I'm telling you, this little kids have their own whole personality! I haven't had any NSTs, but Paul likes kicking the doppler really hard and during my last u/s he wouldn't cooperate to get his belly measured... they had to make me twist and turn while pushing him with the u/s wand to try to get a decent reading! LOL :p Sending some labor vibes your way!!!

Ggill -- Sorry about the HBP and small pelvis :( but I'm glad you are staying positive and flexible about your birth plan :)

Peak -- Welcome to the third tri! :D (officially! LOL)

Melly -- How are those contractions coming??

Knut -- Ready for tomorrow??? I can't wait to see some pics of Hailey! :D

As for me, I have my 34 weeks appointment this afternoon... I guess it will be a quick one... I'll update during the evening or tomorrow morning ;)

Have a great Wednesday everyone!

Knut - I am so excited that you get to meet your LO tomorrow! That is great that you are trying to keep things normal for Nate. I can't even imagine the emotions you must be going through!

Musiette - Cute bump! You look great :)

Cammy - It's funny how our babies already have their own personality :) My OB keeps telling me that it's a great thing that I'm having these contractions. Even though they are not fun, it should make our labor easier.

Ggill - Sorry to hear that the BP is still high. A valentine's day baby would be some gift :) Keep us posted!

Peakkm - Welcome to the 3rd trimester! Now the anticipation really builds up :)

Vero - Good luck at your appointment today!

The contractions are still coming, but nothing that I can't talk through, so I'm still waiting. We've got reservations for Saturday night, and then my whole family is coming over Sunday for my Mom's birthday. Maybe the fact that I have plans now means that I will go into labor :)

I also had a hair cut yesterday. My hair was about 3in past my shoulders and I cut it just below my chin! I love it though. I just wanted something easier for after Allison is here. Now I just need to make my appointment for a massage and pedicure :)

Melly-With plans, I guess there's a good chance she'll come now, that's how these little ones work!!!! LOL. Anticipation will be building soon...it's not near where it was with Jayna...just taking it one day at a time right now. We are all moving rooms (we are moving to the den, after it gets converted to a bedroom, Jayna is moving to our room and Jace will have Jayna's room), so still lots to do and only 11 Saturdays left (the only day we aren't busy to do things and even then we are busy at least 2 of thoes!).

Wow you ladies have been busy here. I don't log on for awhile and it goes nuts!! I will try and do what personals that I can.

Melly-Hopefully you don't have to much longer to wait! My DH and I joke around on days where we have something planned because we know he will probably make his appearance when there is something that needs to get done.

Vero-good luck at you appointment today!!

Peak-congrats on finally making it to the final trimester!! I hope it goes smoothly for you!

ggil-keep us updated on what happens at your appointment. My BP has been fluxuating ?SP so much lately I dont know where it is supposed to be anymore.

Cammy-That is so funny about you LO. My DH always asks me "What is Brayden doing now?" He is getting so excited he wants to share in my excitement as well. He will soon hopefully!

Musiette- I love your baby bump. It looks exactly like mine!

Knut-OMG I'm so happy for you that you get to meet your little girl tomorrow!! You must be thrilled!! I hope that I don't have to much longer but am expecting to be overdue just because that is how things work in my life! Good luck to you and rest up! Tomorrow is the day!!

Okay I think that is as far back as I can go sorry if I missed anyone. AFM not to much going on. The one huge relief off of our shoulders is that we found a house to move into and our house sold so that big headache is done!! I wasn't sure if we were going to have this complete prior to him coming or not but things fell right into place. We have closing dates for both places on March 31st. We are excited an relieved at the same time to have this done. I have my 38 week appointment tomorrow and praying for more progress although not expecting any. I get more and more anxious by the day. I hope everyone else is doing well. I will try and update after my appt tomorrow.

Bizzi Congrats on the good house news! :D And I'll be sending you lots of progress vibes for your appt. :)

Peak Welcome to the Third Tri!

Melly I bet it was fun to get out and get your hair done. :) I'm planning on doing that sometime after Hailey's born - basically when I'm at my wits' end and need out of the house, I'm having a girls' day! LOL!

Still hoping your contractions are doing something. They might surprise you and send you into labor here soon! :)

Vero Good luck at your appt today. :)

ggill Sorry about the BP and the small pelvis. :( If it helps any, they can't REALLY tell if your pelvis is "too small" until you have already been in labor. Your baby could still fit just fine!

I hope your BP settles down for you. It's always a little scary when it starts going up. At least you only have a few more days to go! :)

Cammy Good luck and labor vibes! :D

Thanks for all the well wishes, ladies! :) I am super nervous but also excited. I keep jumping back and forth, lol. I blame hormones. http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/10.gif And isn't it funny how you THINK you have everything clean and ready to go until they give you a date? Then suddenly your "clean" house is "filthy" and everything needs to be done a second time? http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/24.gif At least it keeps me busy.

I've got Nate's eggs made for the next few days. I cleverly labeled them "Nate's Eggs", LOL, so DH can't miss them! :) I'm trying to get lots of cuddle time in with Nate today. I am going to miss him SO much! Hopefully the hospital stay will be short and I'll be back home this weekend to hold my little guy again. :) Looking forward to getting pictures of both my LOs together.

Yay knut tomorrow is the day! I hope everything goes smoothly for you and we get to see pics soon! Also I am very glad to hear about the docs not really being able to tell if my pelvis is to small, I would rather not have the c section and according to my u/s my LO wasn't even in the 50th percentile, so he should be able to fit!

My appt went well BP was 130/82 and the doc just told me to rest more than I have been, so no change on the date and I am relieved, the 17 is soon enough for me.

Good luck today Knut!!! You must already be at the hospital... I'll be thinking of you and Hailey and praying for a smooth delivery :D can't wait to see pics!

Bizzi -- congrats on the new house!! :)

Melly -- I'm so jelous you got a haircut! :p I REALLY need one as well... my hair grew like crazy during pregnancy... hormones, I guess!

Ggill -- Glad to hear your appointment went well :) best luck for the 17th!! can't wait to see pics ;)

Peak -- Good luck fitting everything on Saturdays... we have the same "issues" here LOL and I only have a few left!! DH promised he will finish painting Paul's shelves this Sat and hopefully he'll be able to install them next weekend once they are totally dry! I'm getting a bit anxious because Paul's room is not totally ready yet and there is nothing I can do about it LOL :p

As for me, my appointment went well :) everything is right on track (weight, BP, HR, fundal height, etc) and my doctor was very happy to hear that Paul moves like crazy :p she also told me that the painful chest pressure I feel from time to time (pressure in my collar bone) is actually a contraction! she said the blood from my uterus gets "pressed up" and that's what I'm feeling (I had one during the exam, so she could see it herself)... it's funny because I thought it was coming from my lungs, but obviously, no...

Hope everyone has a nice day ;)

Vero-That is weird about the contractions! Glad your appointment went well. I'm not too worried on Jace's room being completely ready. I mean the furniture is all set-up in there and he'll be sleeping in a bassinet in our room, but I want Jayna's room done now so she can get used to her toddler bed! I'm sure the nesting is going to kick in full force soon....my dad said he would have the den cleaned out Saturday (it used to be the guys' computer room..so there are all sorts of books and other junk in there!). Then he has to install a door, close in a window and then we get to paint, steam clean carpets, etc....lol I'm definitely much more relaxed this pg, with Jayna everything was ready by this time!

I can't believe Knut is having her baby today! Yeah!!!

Peakkm - Good luck on getting everything done on Saturdays. Things always seem to work out somehow :)

Bizzie - Congrats on the house! Hopefully everything with the move will go smoothly for you. Moving always stresses me out!

Ggill - I'm glad your appointment went well. Each appointment is just one step closer to meeting our LO's :)

Vero - That's strange about your contractions. They say that every woman is different, and I guess it's true!

As for me, I had my massage yesterday, and it was great! I highly recommend everyone go get one the last few weeks of pregnancy! I was completely relaxed, and Allison was moving all over the place - it was funny :) I think that having the massage just relaxed everything so she was taking advantage of having more room to move :)

In other news, I'm apparantly losing my mucus plug over time. I started losing it last week, and I've lost a little more in the last couple of days. I called my OB just because it didn't seem normal. She said that as long as it was brown blood, and baby was moving there's nothing to worry about.

Well, I'm off to bake v-day cookies for DH...hope everyone is doing well!!

Oh how cute! Congrats Jessi! She's not small at all, perfectly normal. Maybe mine won't be too big. :)

Wow! this board is getting slow :p everybody left to have their babies? LOL

Knut -- again, congratulations!! Hailey is beautiful and has the perfect size!! Can't wait to read your story :)

Melly -- so cool to have a massage!!! Have fun this weekend with DH and your mom's birthday! and keep us posted if your little girl decides to come ;)

Peak -- yep, I guess that with the second one you know you don't need half of the stuff you *think* you need LOL... we are trying to keep our purchases simple (partly because we don't have a lot of room and also because since I lost my job we don't know until when we'll be living on DH's salary and we don't want to exagerate!) but I would really like to have the shelves installed before Paul comes :)

Ggill -- You are probably next!! Unless Melly gives us a surprise this weekend... good luck on Tuesday!

Cammy -- you are right, they DO look a lot alike! So cute!

So last night I had a ton of contractions, but they were all over the place (not regular at all), so even though some were a bit painful I tried not to worry too much about them, I could still walk and talk through them, so I guess it's just my uterus training LOL... I'm quite sore today though, so I'll *try* not to over-do it. DH is making crepes tomorrow, yummy! :D

Well, happy V-Day to everyone :) and have a nice weekend!

Knut - I'm sure you won't be checking the boards, but your daughter is beautiful! It sounds like everything went well with L&D also, so who could ask for more? Congratulations!!!!

Vero - Your contractions sound about like how mine are now - lots of them, but nothing regular, and nothing too painful. When I wake up in the morning I can tell if I've had a lot of contractions over night because my whole abdomen is sore!

This will be a busy weekend, so in a way I'm hoping that I don't go into labor! DH has had the 18th in his head from the beginning, so maybe that will be the day. I've got my weekly appointment next Tuesday and I'm just hoping for some progress!!

I hope everyone has a good weekend, and happy valentine's day :)

Melly -- How is everything going?

Knut -- Not sure if you are still reading this board... how are things going with Hailey?

Ggill -- Good luck TOMORROW!! You are so close! :D

Cammy -- Any news??

Peak -- How did Saturday go?

I hope I'm not forgetting anyone...

As for me... DH and I had a nice quiet weekend, he made TONS of crepes on Saturday, yummy! and we spent Sunday resting, installing the car seat and painting the shelves for Paul's room. Hopefully DH will be able to install them next weekend once they are totally dry :)

I'm having more and more slightly painful contractions and my pelvic ligaments are really sore so hopefully everything is getting ready... of course nothing is regular yet (Paul still needs to bake!).

Vero-We didn't get much of anything done Saturday. My dad started to clean out some of his stuff from the room...DH was going to go into work, but I guess I guilt tripped him somehow into staying home. It was Valentine's Day and I wanted him home! So he stayed home and we went to lunch and then went looking at baby stuff! Awesome you got the shelves done! I sure hope those ctx's are doing something.

Ggill-You are almost there! Tomorrow is the big day right?! Can't wait to hear your story and see pics of your LO!

Anyone else going into labor?!?!

I'm still hanging out here...I'm getting to the point of being miserable (okay not that bad, but enough for now). I never really had pains with Jayna and this time, Jace is kicking my butt! Getting in and out of bed seems to take an act of congress (same with the car)...and breathing is getting harder! It's amazing how different pg's can be....but I can't complain too much as there are some of you that are in tons more discomfort (and it's only going to get worse for me)!!!!!

Melly652
02-16-2009, 12:35 PM
Vero - I'm glad you were able to get the shelves painted. Just a few more weeks and you'll start getting checked to see what those contractions are doing. As much pain as it causes, it really is a good thing that everything is stretching and opening up.

Peakkm - It's encouraging to me to hear that every pregnancy is different. The first few trimesters were great, but this 3rd trimester has been brutal! I can definitely relate to the getting in/out of bed, the car or anywhere else for that matter :) And unfortunately you're right...it will only get worse for you :( Atleast we know it will all end shortly and be well worth it :)

I'm still pregnant! We had a great weekend - Valentine's day and then our entire family over on Sunday for my Mom's birthday.

On a side note, my sister had her 3rd baby about 3 months ago, and she is going through some hormonal issues now. Her husband called his mom and my mom yesterday basically saying he didn't know what else to do. She went through some slight ppd with her last, but nothing like this. She's just acting really strange, and nothing is rational. Fortunately she has a great support system with friends, family and her doctor so I'm sure she'll be fine. It just got me thinking about what could happen after Allison is born. Even if it's nothing severe, I want to make sure it's taken care of, and doesn't linger. Has anyone had any ppd or baby blues with prior pregnancies? Care to share any experiences?

peakkm
02-16-2009, 01:27 PM
Melly-Yes, it definitely will come to an end and that makes it some easier! But with the hormones, there are just days I am done..lol! I was never diagnosed with ppd, but I did have a touch of it. I never talked with my doctor about it, but should've. My family and a couple close friends knew though. I definitely will see a doc this time if I am feeling any bit of baby blues..it's just not worth going through it when there are meds they can give you until hormones even out some! I just kept telling myself that it would go away, that I would feel better...It eventually did, but that wasn't until I started losing weight and that helped my self esteem and helped with the baby blues.

Vero
02-16-2009, 01:54 PM
Melly -- Glad you had a nice weekend! :D

Peak -- Complain all you want :D that's what the boards are for LOL

I'm also a bit worried about PPD. I've never been the "depressive" type, but preggo hormones made me a bit "weird" from time to time, so I have no idea what will happen afterwards... also, my SIL had HORRIBLE baby blues and you could see in all her pics until her son was like 3-4 months old that she just seemed overwhelmed, sad and frustrated :( and I really would like to avoid that! As Peak said, I think I would go directly to my doctor to get some help! (I already told DH that if I start looking depressed, to please take me to the doctor even if I say I'm fine :p)

Melly652
02-16-2009, 06:07 PM
So, my sister had a meltdown at work today (she teaches high school). Her husband picked her up and they went to see her doctor. They are admitting her into the hospital. I don't know anything else right now. I've just never known anyone personally that went through ppd like this. It's kind of scary.

Hi everyone! Nope, no news. We still haven't dilated and the baby isn't all that low (although that could mean nothing, I know). He's really comfy, and I want him to come on his own without induction. I hope he comes soon cause on the 24th I have an ultrasound appt with a perinatologist that will most likely want to induce or c-section.:( I hope I don't make it to the 24th, but if I do I have faith in God that it's for the better. As long as we're both healthy, I'll do anything. :)

Melly- that's scary about the ppd your sis is experiencing. I hope she's well soon. On another note, seems like it's now only me and you with the same due date. Hopefully we'll go this week. Are you losing your mind yet?

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers for my sister. I just feel helpless...but I know I'm in no shape to be watching young kids - I can barely get out of bed on my own :)

Cammy - DH has said Feb 18th would be the day for months now, so we'll see. I've been trying to keep myself busy, so I don't really have time to think about how miserable I am! DH keeps calling to see how I'm feeling before he goes into meetings. I think he's ready to get out of work for 2 weeks :) Are you doing anything to bring on labor?

cammysandy
02-16-2009, 09:11 PM
Melly- I am not really doing much to bring on labor. At least nothing drastic. I start to increase my walking and even tried dancing for a couple of days, but I have really bad round ligament pain and it wears me out. I am drinking red raspberry leaf tea, cause I've read it helps strengthen/prepare the uterus for labor. And besides that, my husband gives me the best foot massages ever. But that hasn't done anything, only made me comfy. lol I might try the breast pump under supervision if I make it to the 24th, but hopefully he'll come before ANY type of induction. Keeping my fingers crossed. Are you trying anything? And have you been checked?

Melly652
02-17-2009, 08:38 AM
Cammy - I've been checked each week for the last two weeks and so far I'm at 1cm. I have another appointment this morning, so we'll see if I've changed any. I also have really bad round ligament pain that has limited my walking. I hadn't heard about the tea...I may try that. I agree, I would much rather go into labor naturally than to be induced. But then again, I'd rather be induced then have to have a c-section. I guess we will both have to wait and see :)

Melly -- Sorry about your sister :( hopefully the doctors will give her some meds to help her feel better until the hormones go back to normal... keep us posted! Good luck at your appointment today, I'll be sending you some labor vibes :p to see if the 18th (so tomorrow!) is your day ;)

Ggill -- Good luck today!!! Can't wait to read your story and see some pics :D

Cammy -- Sending you some labor vibes as well ;) hopefully he won't be too comfy and decide to come out before the 24th so that you can have the totally natural labor and delivery you want :)

Peak -- How are you feeling today?

So, I'm not sure but I *think* Paul is dropping... my breathing is getting a bit easier and sometimes when I walk I feel as if I have something in between my legs (very sexy, I know! LOL)... I have my 36 weeks appointment next week, so we'll see if there is any progress or if it's just in my mind!

On not-so-nice news, DH is very upset at his job right now... they did something really unfair to him. He completed a year of training on December and in "theory", after that they were supposed to give him a nice bonus plus a salary increase (which we were really counting on since I don't have a salary anymore). His supervisor was very happy with his job and training results (he finished first!) and recommended to personnel to give him a 9.8% of his yearly salary as bonus (the maximum they give is 10%) plus a nice salary increase... yesterday he gets the letter from HR... and they did NOT increase his salary and on top of that they only approved a 2% bonus!!! I mean, we know that the economical situation is not ideal, but he has friends who started the training at the same time as he did but happened to get their bonuses/raises at the end of last year instead of now (the person in charge of DH's paperwork was on vacation during December) and got much more than that!!! He is going to talk to HR today and see if this is their last word... I hope they will be able to reach at least some sort of agreement because this is really frustrating and DH feels as if his job is not being appreciated... sorry for the long rant!! I cannot really talk about this with my family because I don't want them to think that we have money troubles and get them worried :(

Hope you all have a nice day!

Vero - Sorry to hear about DH's job...hopefully talking to HR will help. Thanks for the thoughts with my sister also. It's been a long week already :)

As for my appointment, my BP was the best it's been all pregnancy and even my doctor was shocked. She thought it would have been higher, and with all the stress with my sister, I thought it would be higher too. I'll take it though! Unfortunately I'm still at 1cm, but 75% effaced. So, we wait.

I talked to her some about ppd just with everything that has happened with my sister. She said basically look for poor sleeping or eating habbits that last more than a week. She said that if I just feel like something isn't right, then to call her. Sometimes she will just sit and talk with a patient and that's all it takes. She also said that she has seen a link with ppd and breastfeeding. Apparantly it's just one more added stress that can trigger depression. She said also to look for anxiety, not just depression. Bottom line she said is to get help early, and not let it get out of control. We need to be there for our babies, and we can't do that without taking care of ourselves first. Good advice and I thought I would share.

Melly, I guess it's just the two of us here today! :p where did everyone go?? I've been thinking about Ggill the whole day... the wait is driving me nuts! LOL

So I FINALLY contacted two pediatricians and have "new-parent" appointments next week... hopefully DH and I will like at least one of them! If you have recommendations in the Houston area, please feel free to let me know! :D I'm looking for an open-minded pediatrician that supports breastfeeding ;)

Vero - My OB gave me a list of pediatricians. We are going with Dr. Bootin. She's located in the professional building next to the Women's Hospoital. She's actually my niece and nephew's pediatrician and I've taken them a couple of times. She is definitely pro-beastfeeding. There's also a Dr. Savrick in the same practice and I've heard great things about her also. Who are you guys meeting with?

I'm here, the boards were really slow to get onto this morning and my replies weren't going through!!

Vero-Doing pretty good today, I was completely sore this morning, but felt better after getting out of the house. So sorry about DH's bonus and salary increase, I hope HR will do something about it!

Melly-Congrats on the great BP!!!

I have my 28 week appointment tomorrow..it's my last 4 week appt. So I start going every 2 weeks from here on out (well at least for 1-2 appts., then I'll probably move up to weekly ones). I'm so nervous to step on the scale, I know I've gained too much, but can't seem to stop it no matter what I eat! I think just looking at food at this point makes me gain a thousand pounds! We'll see tomorrow!

Melly652

Peakkm - Lol about the weight gain. I've gained more than I ever thought I would. As my OB said though, it's not like I'm going to go on a diet now :) She also has an understanding for how difficult it is not to gain weight - she gained 50+ lbs with her 1st. Try not to get caught up in the numbers.

Has anyone heard of stripping membranes? My OB did this yesterday, and from what I understand it's just separating the membranes from the cervix to encourage dialation. Well, I had some spotting (red blood) last night and this morning. I called and they said that this is normal. It makes me think that maybe I'm dialating more. Just curious if anyone else has had this done.

Okay, I usually don't vent on here, so anyone can feel free to skip this. My sister was admitted for evaluation on Monday night, and no family was able to see her other than her husband for 1 hour last night. We still can't even get into contact with her doctors because of the evaluation period. When he saw her last night he said that she was very distant and unemotional. She asked if she had killed someone, and if that's why she was there. At this point we're assuming that it has something to do with PPD, but until we talk to her doctors we don't know. On Monday night they said that she was aware of who she was and that kind of thing, but couldn't differentiate between reality and fantasy. I am trying really hard not to stress about this, but my sister is my best friend. Other than DH, she is the closest person in my life. My parents and her DH's parents have been staying at their house and helping with their 3 kids, so they say there's nothing I can do. I just hate sitting here at home knowing what's going on. Anyway, please keep my family in your thoughts and prayers.

Melly -- I'm so sorry about your sister :( I really hope they will be able to figure out what to do soon... and I totally understand how stressed you must feel! I'll keep your family in my prayers **hugs**

Peak -- Glad to hear you are feeling better... I also have my "good" and "bad" days... yesterday it was pretty good, today... not so much so far... I'm having this nagging little headache since I woke up and feeling sore from everywhere! I hope it goes away soon! Good luck today at your appointment!! Keep us posted ;)

Any news from Ggill and Cammy??

About pediatricians, mi OB also gave us a list and most of them are located on 7400 Fannin, so next to the Women's Hospital. I already made an appointment with one of them (Dr. Rossell), since she is my OB's "favorite", but I also made an appointment with another doctor (Dr. Danziger) who also belongs to Texas Children's Pediatric Associates but has his main office less than half mile away from home. I'm not sure what we will do in the end, I guess if we REALLY like Dr. Rossell much better than Dr. Danzinger, we may try to make the effort of driving all the way down to the Medical Center but if Dr. Danzinger is also a good match we may stick to him since it's so close home...

Vero Wow, you're getting close! Just a few more weeks to go! :D

Ggill I hope your induction went well! Can't wait to see pics! :D

Melly Sorry about your sister. :( That sounds like postpartum psychosis. It's a way more severe thing than just postpartum depression. I've never personally known anyone that's gone through it, but it sounds pretty rough on the whole family. :( I hope the doctors can help and that your sister will be feeling better soon!

Hi to everyone else! I'm excited to see you all over on the moms boards soon. :)

Hi girls! Still here. I went to the mall yesterday to walk around. I'm gonna try to increase my walking a lot. It's hard though cause those darn round ligament pains are annoying. But this kid has to come out sooner or later! lol It's gotta be a matter of days, it's gotta be!

Vero- I'm wondering about ggill too! Maybe she's just getting home with her little one and resting up a bit.

Melly- So sorry about your sister. I hope she can get the help she needs and soon be back to herself. About the stripping membranes, I go to a midwife cause of my natural birth wishes, and they don't do that. They say that could introduce bacteria into the placenta, and since I came out GBS+, that's too risky for me. I hope it works for you though!!! Not to scare you, just not recommended for me.

Jessi- I too can't wait to join you!!!

Cammy-Sure hope your LO comes soon!!

Vero-Good luck finding a pedi!

Melly-So sorry about your sister, that has got to be hard.

My doc appt. went okay today. Babies heartbeat was great and my sugar levels were great too. Weight wise, not so great. Somehow I've managed to gain 10lbs in the past 4 weeks. My doc didn't mention the 6-7lb weight gains I have had for the past two appts., but this time he did say my weight was up a bit but said we would just have to deal with it b/c my sugar levels were great. He did say to try and cut out like 100-200 calories and see if that helped any, but sugar levels are the most important to him. I have no idea why I am gaining so much and it's getting pretty darn annoying. The nurse was weighing me and saying 'kelly, kelly, kelly.' THANKS! Just exactly what I needed.

So now I get to figure out how to eat very few carbs and lower my insulin amount at the same time..fun times! I go back in two weeks and am really hoping for a 2lb. or less gain, haha, we'll see then!

Cammy -- sending some labor vibes your way!! I was all motivated to start using the treadmill at my apartment complex starting this past Monday... and I discovered it's broken! :( so I'm also walking at the supermarket, Target, the mall LOL... I just feel stupid walking alone around the apartment complex and there are no parks close-by... I need a dog! :p

Peak -- congrats on the sugar levels! and sorry the nurse made you feel bad about your weight gain... I've noticed that my weight gain is NOT really related to what I eat! there are appointments in which I don't gain anything or very little and then suddenly in 2-3 weeks I gain what I didn't before... and I eat more or less the same amount of calories everyday (I cook all my meals from scratch, so I really know what is in there!). Hopefully it's just temporary and your weight gain will start slowing down soon... keep my fingers crossed for you!

Knut -- glad to see you around here!

Melly -- I hope you are doing fine...

Vero - As for pediatricians, it would be nice if you could find a pediatrician close to home. Unfortunately we don't have any pediatricians associated with Texas Children's close to us - so we're going with one in the medical center. All of my doctors have always been in the medical center, so it shouldn't be too bad. Let me know how your meetings go!

Knut - Glad to see you around! I hope everything is going well for you :)

Cammy - I've been walking more lately. It seems to help with the round ligament pain, until I wake up in the middle of the night and can't move :) I'm GBS+ also, and they never said anything about risk. Is there more risk of infection than just being checked?

Peakkm - Congrats on the good appointment. As for weight, that has to be tough! Did you doctor give any suggestions for how to cut the calories? You might want to see if she can refer you to a dietician or something if she's that serious about it.

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers for my sister. Her DH is seeing her doctor tomorrow morning and then they will both meet with her therapist. Hopefully we will have some answers then. She can still only see visitors for 1 hour each evening, so I'm waiting to hear how she is tonight. I agree with knut - it sounds like postpartum psychosis. I'm hanging in there.

Originally, my Mom was going to take some time off and stay with us after Allison is born, and MIL was going to come into town for a long weekend. Now, my MIL is going to come and stay for however long I need her, and my Mom is going to be helping out with my sister's family. DH's parents live out of state, so it's great that they are doing that for us.

Thanks Peak. My husband says "he'll come on Friday". We'll see.

Yay for walking!!! We should all walk even if it doesn't help our little ones come soon, it helps in that they receive more oxygen. And according to "The Happiest Baby In The Block" they say that when you walk, you rock the baby back and forth and they like this. So lets hit those malls.

Melly- I did a search and the links I found are pretty scary so I won't post. But basically we should avoid being checked and having them strip the membranes. According to my midwife, stripping the membranes is done much higher into the cervix, so it facilitates the transfer of vaginal fluid into the lower part of the uterus. This is true whether you're GBS+ or not. She says it's rare that this will happen, but they don't do it just in case. I'm sure you'll be fine though, and hopefully it will trigger labor. Maybe your doctor might want to keep doing it though, and you can choose whether you're comfortable with this or not. I've only been checked once, and they were very careful. It's hard though, I know. I am tempted to let them check me every time I go, just to see. But my doula and my midwife don't recommend it. I hope it works for you though. I still don't know what they'll want to do to me if my baby doesn't come by the 24th. That's a perinatologist that will be checking me that day, and he might wanna try different inductions. That's kinda scary. :( I hope I didn't freak you out! I didn't know you were GBS+. I think you'll be fine though. A ton of labor vibes!

Sandra-Once I hit 35 weeks, I'm walking hardcore!! I've been dieing to get out on these cooler mornings and walking with Jayna, but I get braxton hick's with any sort of walking like that (going to the store, mall, etc.). Just taking it easy for now...I just wish it was warm enough for the pool!

Melly-As far as suggestions from my OB, he didn't give me any. I am on my own with insulin and diet and stuff...which isn't a problem for me, he will refer me to a dietician if need be though. I need to just cut out most of the carbs I am eating and eat more protein and that should help. But honestly, I don't think it is going to help a ton...I actually ate better these past 4 weeks due to sugar levels being higher, so I don't understand why I gained more than what I have in past weeks. In the end, he's not too worried about the weight as long as my sugar levels are great, we'll deal with the weight after Jace is here...I think I'm more concerned with it than anything! :)

Vero-Same here, my weight is not 100% related to what I eat...I am eating so much healthier this pg than I did with my DD and I have gained more than I did with her!!! I think it's all about having a boy...LOL!

Vero
02-19-2009, 10:34 AM
Melly -- yes, DH and I agree that it may be much easier to have a pedi really close instead of having to travel for around 45 min to reach him/her! So hopefully we'll like the one that is close to our place :) Please keep us posted about your sister!! Still praying for her...

Cammy -- I think my labor vibes are not very efficient! LOL :p hopefully your LO will take the hint and make his appearance before the 24th... otherwise you can ground him!!! ;)

Peak -- It might be the BOY thing... my mom gained about 28 lbs when she got pregnant with me... and 55 with my brother! but I've also heard that sometimes when your sugars are off (like a few weeks ago), your metabolism gets messed up and you gain more than what you should have... so hopefully now that your sugars seem to be better you'll not gain that much...

Ggill -- Come on girl!! you're keeping us in suspense!

So last night I had a TON of ctx's... DH was not at home because he plays soccer on Wednesday nights and I didn't want to freak him out and ruin his game so I didn't tell him when he called before his game to see how I was doing (he already had a pretty stressful week with all the BS of his bonus, etc, so I figured he needed to chill out and have some fun with his soccer friends).

I started timing around 6 and got to a point in which they were coming every 7-10 min and then they were vanishing for like 40-50 min and so on. I could finally go to bed around midnight and they went away... I'm having some from time to time this morning but I'm definitely feeling better than yesterday (migraine is gone, yay!). Let's see if they are actually DOING something! (my next appointment is on Wed).

Have a nice day girls! :D

Cammy - Thanks for the information...and no, you didn't freak me out :) There is so much out there on everything that "can" happen. I think I'll be fine.

Peakkm - I would agree with your doctor - as long as your sugar levels are okay, your weight is what it is. We will all be dealing with the weight after our babies come :) Don't stress out about it!

Vero - That's how my contractions were at about 35 weeks. They even got to the point where they were 2-3 minutes apart for an hour. By 36 weeks, I was 50% effaced and 1cm. Now that's where I've been for 2 weeks. I've had a lot more intense contractions this week, so I guess we'll see Monday what they're doing :)

I'm starting to think that the stress of everything with my sister is causing my contractions. I'm in a lot more pain now, and I'm losing even more of my mucus plug. I've changed now to doing anything to PREVENT going into labor. My family is just dealing with so much, I want to wait.

As for my sister, they are saying that it's an acute psychotic disorder - which basically means it's something brief, but they don't really know anything else. Her DH said that during their first meeting together with the therapist today, she thought her husband's name was Doug (which is MY DH's name), and that she had 4 kids (she has 3) all of different ages from her kids. She didn't acknowledge that she just had her daughter 3 months ago. She is on medication, but they said it could take 2-3 weeks for it to really start working. Her therapist said that they need to go ahead and make arrangements for a therapist and psychiatrist close to home. She's not being discharged anytime soon, but it takes a while to get in with good doctors. She will most likely be under this type of care for a very long time, if not the rest of her life.

I'm taking all of this pretty rough. My DH is working from home today to be with me, just because I didn't want to cry alone. My Mom is the one relaying information to me, and everytime I talk to her, she just cries. I'm trying to be strong for her, but at the same time, I need to break down too. I'm very lucky to have my DH - he's been great through this whole thing. Thanks again for the thoughts and prayers...and listening to me vent :)

Peak -- Yes! I also hope they are doing something... just not too fast yet! Once I hit 37 weeks, I'll be walking more to try to speed things up, but for now I'm timing and trying to take it easy and drink tons of water when I see the ctx's coming a little too often.

I'm also wondering where is everybody!!

Hey y'all....even though I'm not "officially" here till tomorrow, I wanted to pop in and give my 2cents :) hehe

Melly - I am so sorry what is going on with your sister and ppd. Hopefully she'll get better soon! On the stripping of the membranes...I had it done with dd, and I won't do it with Austin. I don't know if it was any correlation, but I had my membranes stripped on Tues, and when I went in on Thurs to have her, I ran a really high fever during labor. So high that dd had to stay in the nicu a week to run a course of antibiotics. I don't know if they are related or not, but I'm not taking any chances with Austin. I've already told the OB I don't want that done, so i'll keep reminding her of it and hopefully she'll remember.

Well off to work! Happy Friday everyone!

Hey everyone! Hope y'all are having a good weekend!

Cammy - I know how frustrating it must be!! I want the 3rd tri to go by slowly, but I can definitely see myself in your shoes (and in Meggie's) in 3 months!! This is going to be our last baby, so i'm trying to savor it as much as possible!!

Vero - I'm glad your shower went well. I guess I've been lucky to take my fiance's youngest to the pediatrician a few times and found a practice that I won't mind taking Austin to. Plus talking with my manager about the different drs here in town helps a bunch too!! We have to be a bit picky b/c of the insurance we'll be on (Tricare), but i know we'll do well with the ones we picked out. :)

One of my RL friends is being induced on Monday (unless she goes into labor before then). I was looking on her myspace page just now and she had posted a blog that was HILARIOUS and thought I'd share it with y'all:

Just like there are old wives tales for determining the gender of the baby, there are tales for how to get labor started. If you’ve made it to 39 weeks and haven’t had a baby yet, expect to start hearing them soon.
For some reason, the thought of an impending birth makes women think they have the right to tell you what to do to get things moving. I can’t tell you how many times someone called me, insisting that their aunt drank castor oil before going into labor.
So, let me get this straight…you want me to have the runs?
Then there’s the whole “nipple stimulation” thing. I had a friend that pumped her boobs one night and then went into labor a few hours later. So, when it was time for me to have my first child, out came the breast pump. I put it to the boob and pumped. Nothing happened. I pumped some more. I tweaked. I tweaked the right, then the left, then both. I tweaked up and then pumped down.
Still, nothing happened. I wanted to cry. I probably really did cry. The deal is this: I was scared to have a baby, but I was so tired of being pregnant that I would do anything to get it over with. But, when I actually went through with trying to start having the baby, nothing worked.
A lady I had just met asked me if I had tried sex. When is it acceptable to meet someone and say “So, have you humped your husband recently?”
NO.
I looked at her and rolled my eyes, stating that the carnal act would have to wait until a human being had exited my body. I don’t know about you, but getting it on isn’t very fun when a little person’s head is firmly rammed into your crotch.

Have a wonderful Sunday!!!

Vero-Sounds like you had a nice little shower!! Yay for moving to the 9th month!!

Sandra-Hoping you go into labor very soon...those last few weeks are completely miserable, but you will soon be holding your son and will forget about it all!

Meg-Sorry about the false alarm..it stinks to go into L&D and leave w/ the baby still in!

Susan-LOL..very funny but oh so true!

Just checking in on you ladies! DH is snoozing away so had a few minutes. We haven't done a whole lot, but did go to the Carter's outlet and get a few outfits for Jace. Other than that, just relaxing! I am missing my little girl like CRAZY right now, but I do have to say it's been nice to get some sleep! Hope you all are having a great weekend!

Just wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing!

peak- Enjoy your time away!

meggie and cammy I hope something happens soon!

Meggie-at least you are dilated some and have had some contractions, maybe you will be lucky enough to have a quick labor like knut!

cammy- it does feel like forever until you have an induction date, and then time is out. My c-section went really pretty well and now I am feeling good. Also Sam was not big at all, 6 lbs when we left the hospital so GD does not mean a big baby, and u/s are not 100%. Hopefully everything goes well for you and soon!

vero-your shower sounds awesome, you got some good stuff! Congrats on the 9 months!

I am trying to bf like crazy, every 2-3 hours with each session followed by pumping... that sums up everything I am doing right now, hopefully we will hear some more stories soon!

Hello everyone! Thanks for all the words of welcome!

Susanlynn - I laughed out loud at your stories about what people tell you to kickstart labour! I think there is something about being pregnant that makes people less shy about telling you personal and intimate things (and asking them!). When I told my assistant I was pregnant she spent nearly an hour telling me all about her pregnancy, her labour and the recovery ...

ggill Very glad to hear that you're feeling good after your c-section!

Cammy and Meggiebeth I have my fingers (and toes) crossed that the babies will head out soon (and with smooth, quick deliveries!).

Vero Sounds like your baby shower was a lot of fun!

Melly I'm very sorry to hear about your sister and all you're dealing with right now. I have a very dear friend with mental illness and it is not easy. Hang in there and try and concentrate on the healthy baby you will be having soon. Take care.

We've spent the weekend cleaning/organising and turning our den into the baby's room. I've also just been on line for a while buying some more stuff for our shipment (fun but very hard not to go overboard!). I keep on reminding myself that we're bound to get some clothes/toys, etc. for the baby!

I have my 3-hour GTT test tomorrow and am dreading it ... it's just going to be so uncomfortable but I have my fingers crossed that I get a good nurse who manages to take blood without poking or causing me bruises (I still have bruises from the blood tests two weeks ago!). I'm also kicking myself for eating sugary crap the entire weekend before my one-hour test (as I'm wondering if I could have saved myself the 3-hour test?).

Take care everyone!

Thanks everyone. I appreciate all the labor vibes and prayers you guys are sending my way. I really wanted him to be here before the 24th cause I have that perinatologist appointment, and I know he's going to tell me "baby's too big, we need to induce/c section". But I still haven't lost my mucus plug or anything. There are moments when I wanna tear my hair out by the hand full out of pure desperation, but then I come to my senses and am thankfull that at least he's healthy in there. In the end, that's all that matters and hopefully whatever way he gets here will be in a safe manner for both of us.

I think what makes it even harder, is the endless amount of phone calls and emails asking if the baby is here yet. Some even say "until when?". I know they're anxious to meet the new baby, and their intentions aren't bad, but they have no f*****g idea how anxious I am!! And then, they call my mom's cell phone every day (she's been coming over daily to help out around the house) and I have to listen to her explain to them that the baby isn't here yet, and it almost sounds like we have to be apologetic cause we let them down. Booooooooy, am I tired of that! They ALL tell my mom, "We thought he was here already, and that you guys weren't calling us to let us know". I don't want to be mean, but that makes me not want to tell them when it does happen.

Well, enough venting. I must try to stay relaxed.

Awww Sandra - I'm sorry you're so frustrated with everything, but totally understand. I hope he comes before your appt on the 24th! Dont feel sorry about venting..we all do that at times!! :) We're here for you!

Guz - I hope your 3 hour GTT test goes well. I have my 1hr test a week from Wednesday. Usually when I have my appts I eat b-fast and then wait to go to lunch until I'm on my way to the appointment, so hopefully that won't mess everything up. Anyone have any ideas? I'll prob eat b-fast around 7:45-8:00 and then i'll leave for the drs around 3 (appt is at 3:30) I'm trying not to have my hrs docked for not making my 40 hours. Lately I've been good, but it's hard to do.

Well, gotta make the kids lunches and head to bed. Hope y'all have a great (and eventful) week!! :)

Hello everyone!!

Cammy -- sorry about the comments!!! I have a friend who went nearly 2 weeks past her due date and she was SICK of people calling her to ask if she was still pregnant... or directly tell her things like "Are you still pregnant? Wasn't your due date like 10 days ago??" (as if she had "forgotten" to go to the hospital to have the baby!)... at some point she decided to change her answering machine message to "No, the baby is NOT here yet. We'll let you know when he comes". People just don't get it!! **hugs** hopefully he'll come soon! (and without induction/c-section ;))

Meggie -- Good luck! sending labor vibes your way ;)

Suzan -- No kidding! People can become really obnoxious when they learn you are pregnant... and give you ALL kinds of UNWANTED advice :p LOL Good luck with the 1 hr test :) my OB didn't say anything about fasting before that one (some doctors do), but I did have to have it early in the morning, like 2 hours after having breakfast. I guess it depends on each doctor!

Peak -- How was your trip?? Hope you had lots of fun with your DH :D

Ggill -- Glad that everything is going well and you are feeling fine :) good luck with breastfeeding!

Guza -- Good luck with the 3hr GTT!

Melly -- How are you feeling? How is your sister doing?

This weekend we *nearly* finished Paul's nursery :D shelves are painted and in place with his stuffed animals on them, we also hanged all the wall art, moved the pack n' play to our bedroom (so that DH gets used to have it on the way and doesn't bump against it when he gets out LOL), assembled the bouncy seat and installed the aquarium on the crib :D yay! So hopefully I'll be able to post some pics this week ;)

Nesting is hitting hard again... on Saturday I HAD TO scrub every inch of my kitchen and disassemble the toaster oven to get all the little crumbs... polish all the appliances and clean the floors until they were so disinfected I could have eaten directly from them LOL... of course by tomorrow everything is going to look as if I NEVER cleaned, but I just couldn't help it! :p

Ctx's are still coming and going, and getting more and more painful... I also feel as if I'm sitting on a tennis ball sometimes... I have my appointment on Wednesday so I'll finally get to know if I'm making any progress or if the ctx's are just annoying but useless! (hope not!).

Well, I guess this is it for now... have a great Monday everyone! :D

Wow...boards were busy over the weekend. I'm not even going to try to do personals, just know I read them and it sounds like everyone is doing well.

I just got back from our weekly appointment, and I'm STILL at 1cm. I'm thinning out more though. My blood pressure, weight and Allison's heart rate are all great, so nothing to worry about there. If I'm still pregnant next Monday (the day after my due date), I will have an NST after my regular appointment just to make sure there isn't a reason why she's not coming. She also said that she wouldn't have me go past 41 weeks. She is definitely not for induction, and she doesn't think that I'll make it that far.

Thanks for the kind words and thoughts about my sister. She is still in the hospital and they are trying to stabalize her medications right now. I saw her Saturday for about 20 minutes. She is still pretty dillusional, but also says things that make sense - she couldn't believe I hadn't had Allison yet :) She is also extremely paranoid. We still don't know much, and it's becoming more and more frustrating. In fact, no one has talked to her psychiatrist yet. We don't even know what they are diagnosing her with. Anyway, I'm trying really hard to just focus on DH and I and Allison. I know that there isn't anything I can do being 9 months pregnant.

Hope everyone is having a good start to the week!

Hello ladies. seem like everyone is still here. I was hoping to hear some birth stories. Will keep checking. I will try and do personals later. I just got home from hospital. Got really sick Saturday night. Went to ER on Sunday and they admitted to L&D for the night. They arent sure what was wrong. Maybe had flu bad or ate something bad..They ran 3 bags of IVs through. i feel better but really tired. ONce I got home I went to bathroom and I think Imay be starting to loose my mucus plug. Will see. It took like a week after it started with Kiera before I had her. Sorry dont have longer but I need a nap and water. I'm still pretty dehydrated. HOpe to see yall going soon. take care and rest ladies :)

Melly- Wishing you the best with the baby and your sis. :)

Thanks everyone for understanding. I feel like I'm a complete snob for getting frustrated with the phone calls. But I recommend that people record a message on their answering machine that says "Baby's not here yet. Thanks for calling, I'll let everyone know". lol Me, I just don't answer. They myspace me anyway, so I let everyone know there. Oh, and everyone calls my mom still. I've been walking away as soon as I hear her cell phone ring. lol

I don't know if anyone will be reading this tonight, but please wish us luck tomorrow. I have the dreaded appt. with the perinatologist tomorrow at 1:00pm. He's going to tell me what I should do based on the baby's weight and measurements. I want a natural non-induced birth, but if the baby is huge and it's dangerous then I might be convinced otherwise. I'm very scared, :( but hoping that everything will be normal and we'll be able to wait for his non induced arrival. Please keep us in your prayers. Thanks

Cammy -- Good luck at your appointment today!! I'll keep you and your little boy in my prayers :) hopefully he won't be too big and you'll get the birthing experience you want! **hugs** keep us posted ;)

Melly -- Sending some labor vibes your way! And best wishes for your sister's speedy recovery...

Musiette -- Sorry about you being sick!! Those bugs are nasty! and getting dehydrated during pregnancy is not only annoying but dangerous... glad you are feeling better :) hopefully you'll be able to rest a bit (I know... hard to do with a toddler to take care of!). Drink plenty of fluids!

Not that much to report here... still with on/off ctx's, they woke me up a few times last night but then I went back to sleep :p I'm going to have the car seat inspected today and this afternoon DH and I will meet a prospective pedi. I have my 36 weeks appointment tomorrow... can't wait to see if all those ctx's are doing something!

Have a nice day! :D

Hello everyone!

The boards are busy ... I just wanted to update that, to my relief, I spoke to the doctor's office and I passed the 3-hr GTT. The nurse said she still had to check with the doctor to have her review the results but that all the numbers were well below normal ranges.

Last time I spend the day before my 1-hr test eating macarons and croissants ...

Take care everyone! I look forward to hearing about all the babies that will soon be joining us here on earth!

Musiette - Sorry to hear about having to go to the hospital. Get some rest, and drink up :)

Cammy - I am thinking positive thoughts for you today. Just know that in the end you and your baby will be healthy. Keep us posted!

Vero - I tend to have most of my contractions at night also. I figure if I can go back to sleep and sleep through them, they must not be that bad. I still haven't made my appointment to get the car seat inspected with everything that has been going on. I REALLY need to do that this week!

Guzadog - Congrats on passing your 3 hour GTT!! That's one less thing to worry about :)

Nothing really going on here. My DH was joking last night about me holding Allison hostage. He's ready for her to come out and play :)

peakkm
02-24-2009, 03:12 PM
Melly-He says he is ready for her to come out and play now...just wait until she gets here! LOL..DH's are funny about babies...just remind him of what he said before she was born! Hope things start progressing more for you soon!!

Guza-Congrats on passing the 3 hour!!! What a relief!

Vero-How'd the appt. w/ the pedi go? I hope you find one you like!!

Cammy-How did your appt. go w/ your perinatologist? Totally understand you on the phone calls..I'd be ticked!!! Jayna came early..well she was expected to be here at around 38 weeks due to me having diabetes, but she came the day of 38 weeks! If people were calling me like that, I'd just turn off the phone...they can ALL wait!

Musiette-Hope you get to feeling better soon!

DH and I had a great trip. It was nice and relaxing and we did whatever we wanted...much nicer than having everything planned out like our lives seem to be anymore. Now it's back to everyday life...and I'm just really tired today! Jayna is sick with a cold and she is so tired and cranky. She has been throwing fits about everything...she's in her crib now laying down but fussing so she won't fall asleep! Gotta love toddlers!

Think I might try and clean some...I'm on DH's computer which is in the den that is supposed to become our room..it's a comlete mess w/ computer junk in it (most of it's my dad's) and I can't stand it anymore. We only have a handful of Saturdays left to get things finished!!!

Hi everyone!! I just got back from the hospital, and I am dilating, contracting, and have bloody show. I've been having lots of discharge all day long. Hopefully, it will be soon. :)

Best of all...baby is 8 pounds!!! Not the 9 or 10 they had anticipated by this date. So that meant no induction for now. And since it seems like things are happening anyway, they told me that I can plan just a cervidil on the weekend if he's not born by then. I'm optimistic that he'll come soon. If I'm anything like my mom, I'll have him tomorrow. lol If not, that's okay. I'm just happy he's not HUGE and I can try a natural delivery.

Thanks for thinking of us! :D

Guza -- Congrats on passing the GTT :D

Melly -- I hope your sister is doing better!

Peak -- I'm glad you had a great time! I totally agree that a break in which you don't plan anything and just go with the flow is a wonderful thing to do from time to time :)

Starlette -- Welcome to the third tri!! :D

Cammy -- It really sounds like this is it!! Best wishes and keep us posted!! I'll be praying for an easy natural delivery for you ;)

I had my car seat inspection yesterday, it was really nice to have it checked and know that it's properly installed... my DH had done a good job but the girl at the inspection site made me move it to a different position and then back to be sure that I knew how to put the base in case I needed to take it out, she also made me practice how to take the baby in and out (with a doll) and how to properly adjust everything. It didn't take long and I think it was totally worth it :)

Then in the afternoon DH and I went to interview a pedi. We liked him a lot. His office is REALLY close home (I got into my car at 4:48 and was literally at the door of his office by 4:55). The place is very clean and neat, they have separate waiting and treatment rooms for well-kids, sick-kids, well-newborn, and teenagers, and the staff is friendly. They will take calls 24/7 and have a walk-in clinic on Saturdays for sick kids. We are still keeping our appointment with a second pedi in March, but most likely we will be going with this one... location is just awesome!

I have my 36 weeks appointment late this afternoon... and plan to go get my hair cut after lunch (I'm sick of how long it is!! crazy preggo hormones LOL :p)

Hope everyone is having a great day! :)

Vero - Gald the car seat inspection and appointment with the pedi went well. Just two more things you don't have to worry about :) Have fun getting your hair cut, and good luck at your appointment!

Does anyone else have good days/bad days when it comes to pain? Yesterday I couldn't get out of bed and my legs kept giving out on me. Today I feel fine. So strange! Other than that, I'm just cleaning and waiting for something to happen :)

As for my sister, she is still in the hospital, and her status hasn't really changed. We are having a difficult time getting access to her medical records and meeting with her doctors now. It's not like a normal hospital where there's a nurses station to go to and ask questions. She has to sign paper work stating specifically who can have access to this information. Even her regular doctor and OB/GYN can't find out anything and no one has contacted them asking for any past medical records. It's extremely frustrating. Thanks for listening to me vent!

Vero
02-25-2009, 10:29 AM
Melly -- vent all you want! we are here for that ;) About pain, TOTALLY AGREE!! I have my good days in which I can go out, shop, cook, clean, bake... no problems at all, and my bad days in which I can barely make it out of bed and drag myself to the couch... hopefully it will be over very soon for you!

peakkm
02-25-2009, 02:02 PM
Melly-So sorry about your sister, and like Vero said, feel free to vent all you want!! I totally understand you on the good/bad days.

I'm 100% tired...I am so tired I fell asleep on the couch while Jayna was playing in the living room! I didn't fall into a deep sleep, but enough to rest some! She finally woke me up after she started climbing over me from one side of the couch to the end table, back over me, back and forth! She woke up 1.5 hrs early this morning...I slept like crap last night and she refused to take her morning nap. I am not into drugging my child, but she has had a horrible nose lately with this cold, so out came the Benadryl!!!! I gave her some, fed her lunch and then rocked out...she was out like a light! But did she stay that way?! NOPE! She usually takes a good 2 hour nap...she was up after about an hour and 10 min...ughh! I just really want sleep for some reason.....

Vero
02-25-2009, 03:38 PM
Peak -- Sorry about the lack of sleep!! I have to say I had been quite lucky about that so far... but last night I woke up to pee and got a really painful ctx (I actually started freaking out a bit because it was LONG and I had to use all my breathing techniques to be able to stand up from the toilet and reach my bed), and even though it went away and I didn't get another one like that, my belly got so sore and Paul so active it took me forever to go back to sleep... and I totally feel it today! I'm thinking on going to bed early after my appointment :p

Hopefully Jayna will be back to her routine tomorrow and you'll be able to get a nice nap **hugs**

02-25-2009, 03:57 PM
Vero-Life is so different after having a baby...I never remembered having many issues sleeping when I was pg with Jayna. Now it's like once she goes to bed, I'm off to do this and that...when I finally get settled into bed, I remember everything I need to get done and my mind races..LOL. Those ctx's don't sound like any fun at all!! I can't say I've ever experienced one...just the typical braxton hick's ones. I am sure I will feel ctx's this go around as I am already having a TON of BH's just moving around now.

I just ran to storage to pull out Jayna's infant car seat. I am trying to buy a replacement cover for it (since it's all pink and I'm NOT putting my BOY in a PINK carseat!) from Graco, so had to get the model number and such. I was looking at the weight/length restrictions on it....up to 22lbs and 29inches...my baby girl could still fit in that at a year (and definitely weight wise still now, and possible length)!!! She was out of it by 2 months though..so it's still got a long life left!

Vero
02-25-2009, 10:19 PM
So, just a quick update on my appointment... everything seems fine, my belly is measuring right on target (36 weeks), BP and HR are fine, etc... she did my GBS test (not fun but not too bad either) and checked my cervix... I'm 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced :D yay! so at least it "seems" like my ctx's are not a waste... of course I could stay at 1 cm for 4 weeks or Paul could decide to come next week, so we'll see what happens!

I think I'm off to bed NOW... I had a couple more of the longer and more painful ctx's during the afternoon and I'm ready to get some sleep! :p

Peak, I hope you can rest tonight!!

Hi all-

Just wanted to say I'm still here. i've been down with a cold & low fever, then internet issues. Still on bedrest. Next week I stop taking the procardia that's been controlling the contractions and let nature take it's course. There are far too many posts to do personals for since I've been gone, but I did take the last 2 days to read everything. glad everyone is progressing well.

Jennifer-I was wondering what was happening with you! You have made it so far with baking those twins!!!! They will be here so soon!

Vero-Glad your appt. went well. And you are right, 1cm and 50% effaced is something, but you can walk around like that forever..LOL! Paul will be here before you know it though and I hope you go sooner than later for your sake!! The last few weeks are just plain old tough!

I think I am getting the cold that is being passed around, not what I want or need right now, but I'm surprised I haven't gotten it sooner. My mom was sick like a month ago, DH the week after her, my dad and Jayna right now... I'm just going to rest as much as possible right now...housework can wait, LOL.

Not yet! lol

I've had lots of contractions and baby is engaged. Cervix is super soft, I just need to start dilating. On Monday night, if I'm still preggo by then, they are going to do cervidil. I'm fine with that now, cause he'll be almost 41 weeks, plus I know he's ready cause he's engaged. Again, I hope I dont make it till Monday, but if I do, I'm okay with it (especially since his weight is in the 65th percentile, not too big).

It's just a matter of days before I'm a mommy!!! Woohoo!!! Thanks for keeping up with us, and best of luck to all of us who are oh so close! :D

I got SO tired just from going to the store!!! Now I need to gather some more energy to start making the pie LOL

I'm still here!!! The boards have been busy...

Dreaming - I'm glad to hear from you, and so happy to hear that the twins are still baking! Good job Mom :)

Peakkm - Sorry to hear about the cold. Taking care of yourself is definitely more important than housework!

Vero - Great news about your appointment. I know exactly what you mean about the tennis ball...except I feel like I've got a bowling ball LOL!! We were supposed to go to a dinner for DH's job tomorrow night, but I decided not to. I'm just not up for an evening of dinner and dancing LOL :)

Cammy - I am so excited for you!! Atleast you have a plan and know what will happen if you're still pregnant Monday.

Meggie - I'm anxious to hear how your appointment went! I have the same thing - contractions for hours, and then nothing. It's such a tease!! :)

As for me, I've been having contractions on and off for the last two days. They are definitely painful, and I can feel the pressure on my cervix - sharp pain like I'm being checked. Allison is moving all over the place like she's trying to tell me there's no more room :) Sunday is my due date, and I never thought I would make it this far!

Melly- Hoping you will go soon! I hear ya on not thinking I would make it this far. IVF babies are supposed to come a little early...not this little guy! So far all the women from my IVF group have delivered except me! Atleast he'll be healthy!

Vero- Good luck with making the pie, wow that is a lot of work!

As for me and my appt. I am still 3 cm, but now 80%+ effaced, he's definitely engaged at
-2 station and my cervix is pretty far forward so we'll see....still the waiting game! My OB did a sweep (ouch!) and I am thinking about DTD to see if that helps (tmi! ;-) ) I am so ready for him to come, I'll try about anything!

So many of you are SO close!!! Good luck ladies..can't wait to see your cutie pies on the mom's thread!!

Dreaming- GREAT JOB kepping those babes in for so long!! I know bedrest can be so draining...but totally worth it!! FYI- I went into labor exactly 2 weeks after stopping procardia. I'm assuming you'll go sooner w/ two in there! I also was taken off bedrest when I stopped procardia....do you get restrictions lifted next week too?

Oh- and Vero, your description of the tennis ball cracked me up!! We had our childbirth class 3 days before I went into labor (talk about just making it!) Anyway, when we took the hospital tour, Owen was so low the other preggos were like lapping me when we walked!! They had to keep stopping and waiting for me. I felt a little silly like they all thought I was being dramatic!! But, then my water broke 3 days later...

Anyway...you totally brought back those memories for me!!

I'll write more this weekend!

Meggie - LOL about DTD. That's just not happening for so many reasons right now :) I think DH wonders if we'll ever "make-out" again!

So, I've had a major headache since yesterday. I took my blood pressure and it's fine (113/70). Tylenol isn't doing anything. I've never had a migraine, but I have a feeling that's what this is. Any suggestions???

Melly -- I totally understand you not being up for a night of dinner and dancing :p LOL I have a dinner party tonight (no dancing though!) and I really couldn't say no (we are welcoming back a friend who left for social work in Ethiopia last May) AND I opened my BIG mouth and offered to make dessert  but DH and I already agreed on a "secret phrase" so that I can let him know when I need to go home! Good luck this weekend! Maybe Allison will be a very punctual girl and arrive on her due date :)

Meggie -- Ouch! the sweep sounds painful! I bet you are ready for him to come!! I've scheduled a pedicure for next week (once I hit term) to see if that works LOL several of my friends went into labor after getting pedis! :p

Tink -- LOL! I felt like that yesterday when I went to get the key limes for my pie... I was walking down the aisle at Kroger and I had the feeling the old lady behind me was getting upset because I was so slow!! When she finally decided to go to the other side and she saw that I was preggo (I don't look preggo from behind, my belly is ALL up front!) she made a face like "oh! I see, that explains everything!" Can't wait to "officially" join the Mom's board! :D

Not that much going on here... the pie is done! yay! so I can just relax and take a long nap to have some energy tonight :)

Have a great day and weekend! ;)

Melly, I think we were posting at the same time... as a "migraine veteran" LOL, all I can suggest you is (1) a glass of very cold coke (the caffeine helps and one glass won't do anything to Allison) and (2) ice-packs... I usually place one behind my neck and one over my eyes and try to press on them a little... I really hope you'll feel better soon, I know how miserable it is to have a migraine when all you can take is Tylenol!

Thanks Vero...unfortunately I tried the caffeine and cold compress last night and it didn't work :( I just talked to my OB and they are having me come in just to make sure nothing else is going on. She said that if I still have my headache (which I will) they can prescribe me a pain reliever that is safe for Allison. I'll let you guys know what she says...

Melly -- keep us posted! Hopefully they will be able to give you something that helps... honestly my migraine gets really bad when it's hot outside and these past couple of days have been horrible around Houston! On days like that I have a constant migraine that changes in intensity but never goes really away :( **hugs**

Melly-I hope you get that headache/migraine taken care of soon!! They are no fun. I woke up with a horrible headache this morning that felt like it was bordering migraine. DH was extremely worried as I get hemiplegic migraines where I have stroke symptoms before the headache part comes on...I had to remind him that if I already had a headache, I wouldn't get the symptoms after!

Meggie-This is disgusting, but I am pretty sure I heard that cervidil (or one of the things they put on your cervix to ripen it as part of induction) has pig semen in it...I would much rather have DH semen than pig semen..LOL!

Vero-Good luck with the dinner party tonight. DH just e-mailed me and asked if I wanted to go see Street Fighter...not really, but I'll do it for him!!! I am not a big movie fan with going to the theaters, but he really wants to!

Okay, so it's amazing what a little bit of sleep will do (or a lot of sleep). I took Tylenol PM last night, finally fell asleep. Woke up several times to use the restroom...then I woke up at 5 to get DH's lunch ready and to test my sugar levels to make sure they were okay. I was already down to 69, so ate a PB & J uncrustable (it was the only quick thing I could think of), took Tylenol due to a headache and laid back down. Jayna didn't wake up until 6:50...but then she didn't seem to want to fall asleep in my bed, but finally did and slept until 9:40!! I woke up before her and it just felt great! I am in a MUCH better mood this morning..LOL!

Just stalking you 3rd trimester girls to see if any babies had arrived, and I saw the migraine postings so I had to reply...a trick I learned from a friend who developed them during her pregnancy is to run water as hot as you can stand it, put your bare feet in, and then put an ice pack on the back of your neck and the top of your head. The theory being that this will quickly drain the blood out of your head and give you some relief. I have found it to be effective, even when just ice packs alone didn't work.

Hope you feel better!

Peak -- Glad you got to sleep!! It DOES make a huge difference! Have fun at the movies :)

Beth -- I'd heard that one before (my grandpa was a neurologist and he was always experimenting new "natural techniques" to treat migraines... and I was sort of his guinea pig LOL) but I haven't used it during my pregnancy because I'm SO HOT all the time I cannot even take a warm shower! I'm taking cold showers/baths otherwise I get nausea and feel light-headed... thanks for the reminder though! I may try it once I can handle hot water again :p

I took a nap after lunch and woke up TOTALLY drenched in sweat, yuck!! I think I'll soak in a cold bath before leaving for the dinner party tonight

Is anyone else feeling like someone is stabbing you in the woo-ha?? It's getting quite annoying now...

Melly652
02-27-2009, 09:17 PM
Peakkm - I'm so glad you're feeling better!

Beth - Thanks for the suggestion. I have never heard of that, but it makes sense!

Vero - I can't tell you how many times I have woken up drenched in sweat! They say it gets worse after the baby is born. As for the stabbing pain, my OB said that it's her head pushing against my cervix, and it's a good thing. Apparantly it can help things along.

Well, today was much longer than I anticipated. When I got to my OB's office, they took my bp and it was 140/80! They waited a while longer and took it again...and again. It was still the same, so they sent me over to the hospital for testing and monitoring. There was no protein in my urine, and all my bloodwork came back normal. They gave me a shot for pain and nausea, and had me sleep for a while. My BP finally started to come down. I can't tell you how relieved I was!! Then I went to get another ultrasound to make sure everything was okay with Allison. Everything was fine on the ultrasound, so they sent me home.

They told me that they would usually put someone on bedrest, but at this point it's a little late for that since I'm due Sunday! So, they said I basically just need to rest and keep my feet elevated. No more walking to bring on labor for me :)

Oh yeah, my OB checked me again, and I am at 2cm (I was at 1cm Monday).

Beth-Hmm..thanks for sharing that!! That does make sense though. Hoping I don't get anymore this pg. I had one the day I delivered Jayna (not b/c of the migraine, but I was in the hospital for it and other things went wrong)...and I had several in my first tri this pg...gotta love hormones!!!

Melly-Glad you are progressing, but sorry about the higher bp!!

Vero-I hate when I wake up all sweaty...it seems to happen a lot when I have really weird dreams! And sorry about the stabbing pain, just comes with the territory...I'm not there yet, but see it could happen sooner than later!

Haha, so much for good sleep last night. I have slept like crap tonight, hence the reason it's 3am and I'm awake! I got upset at DH over stupid stuff and once I put Jayna to bed, I went into my room and just laid there, fell asleep and woke up 2 hours later...and I've been up and down since then. DH finally came to bed and I can't sleep when I'm upset with him and he is clueless as to what he did wrong...men just don't get it sometimes. Of course it's his gaming night and that's fine with me, but he didn't bother to help with Jayna at all and it's been a rough week with her. It takes less than 30 min. to give her her bath, get her ready for bed and put her down...he didn't even get to say goodnight to her tonight as we were standing in the doorway and he had his headphones on and was clueless as to us being there...she ran away and that was that. And come 7am when she is wide awake, guess who gets to get up with her?! ME! I sit here and wonder how in the heck am I going to do it all with 2?!

Vero

Peak -- I'm really sorry about your rough night and your DH :( men sometimes just don't get it!!!

I had a horrible night as well... DH was "cold" and turned off the A/C without telling me and I woke up at 2 am sweating like a pig and totally uncomfortable... I went to change into dry PJs and get some cold water and DH was like "are you OK?" and I was "it's hell in here! is there something wrong with the A/C???" (it was like 85 in the apartment!) and he put his guilty face and told me it was off  It took me FOREVER to go back to sleep after the A/C finally kicked in...

Melly -- Sorry about the high BP, that's scary!! I'm glad that Allison and you are doing fine and you didn't have to get admitted in the hospital. Please take it easy today!

Vero-I HATE waking up hot. We have had some nice and cool weather lately and I have a fan in the window blowing cold air in, another fan blowing air around and a ceiling fan going! It feels wonderful to sleep..of course getting up to use the restroom isn't too fun since it gets pretty cold! DH redeemed himself, he kept apologizing last night for what he did, which is totally not like him usually. He then got up when Jayna woke up this morning and brought her into our bed and then when she was up for the day, he took her. Of course about 9 he came back to bed since my mom had gotten up and told him to go back to bed! So that was really nice..I hate having to ask him to do things like that though and I feel guilty sleeping knowing that he is the one that works, etc. But there are just some days I need that little bit of extra sleep or just a tiny break.

Hi everyone! I hope you're all having a great weekend.:D

I just wanted to let everyone know that tomorrow I'm being induced at 9:00pm, with cervadil. Apparently, it doesn't always work and it stays in over night. I'm hoping it works, and if so I'll have my baby on Monday. If not, I'm not sure if I'll come back home, or try another form of induction. Also, who knows if things end up in a c/s. :( That's scary, but only God knows.

Wish us luck please. It can't hurt to have lots of people praying for things to go great. I'm suuuuuuper nervous and excited. Let's see what happens. :)

Good luck tomorrow Cammie!!!!! I'll be thinking about ya tomorrow and hope everything goes smoothly!! :)

Wow...and I thought I was the only one with the hot/cold issues!! lol I went to bed freezing cold last night and by morning, I had almost all the covers kicked off. (didn't want to kick them off of my lower body since the kids seem to like to walk in the bedroom in the mornings asking to play XBOX or Wii or something like that)

Peak - what game does he play? Me and my fiance are 'gamers' so to speak...I know I'll have to give alot of it up come May/June...but we're enjoying it in the meantime! lol

Melly - hope everything goes well and sorry about your BP. I know ppl say its just a matter of time...but hope that time goes fast!!!

Hope everyone has a great Sunday!! :)

Sandra-Best of luck tonight!! Cervidil can definitely get the cervix ripened and ready to go...maybe if you dilate enough they can then break your water to get labor going more?

Susan-City of Heroes, Star Wars Galaxies, Call of Duty...those are the three I know he has played recently at least.

Alright, I am not sure what is going on. I had a pretty stong contraction Friday night when I was up and then a period of tiny ones and some mild cramping...they went away. Yesterday while driving to the Strawberry Festival, I had some more BH's and some light cramping. I ended up waking up at 1am and had like this hunger pain feeling in my stomach above my uterus...so I went and tested my blood sugars and they were fine, had a little snack and headed back to the bedroom. Jayna woke up and DH took care of her while I tried to figure out what was wrong. The pain was towards the top of my uterus and was radiating towards my back. It was constant for awhile and then started to come and go...all I can think of is that they were contractions...they finally stopped after about an hour and 45 min. I never had contractions with Jayna, so I can't say if they were or not...any ideas?? It's too early for all of this!

Cammy -- Good luck!! I'll keep you and your little boy in my prayers... hope the cervidil works and you can have a smooth delivery! Keep us posted :)

Peak -- They do sound like contractions to me... it's kind of what I feel when I say that I get this upper uterus pain that goes towards my lungs (I guess I could also describe it sort of like hunger pains). I've been having them since I was 26 weeks preggo and at the beginning my doctor was concerned and she even checked my cervix, but fortunately at 26 weeks it was closed and long so she just said to take it easy, lay down and drink plenty of fluids when they were coming... and to let her know if I had more than 10/day. They increased around week 32 but nothing more than 10/day unless I was really over-doing it... and I definitely started noticing more and more a couple of weeks ago. Please take care!!

Vero-Thanks! Like I said, I never went into labor with Jayna, so I have no idea what a 'real' contraction is..lol. DH made me stay home this morning from church. We walked a lot yesterday and I'm sure that's probably why I was having them. It was hard to count how many I actually had as it started off as a constant pain and then I had a few more, but they were pretty close together and then started slowing down. I go back to my OB on Thursday, so I'll talk to him about it then. DH wanted me to go to the hospital, but I have no idea where to go. The hospital I will deliver at is almost an hour away and it's a small hospital, so if Jace were to come early, they would take him to a hospital that is about 30 min. from where I live that has a NICU...so I'm thinking that hospital would be the best to go to (I'd deliver there if my doc did!). I never had to worry about any of this with Jayna....

I can't believe it's March already...Jace will be here NEXT month.......

Wow...everyone is up bright and early on the boards this morning :)

Cammy - I will definitely be praying for your and your family today! In a way I'm jealous that you get to be induced today. Good luck, and keep us posted!

Peakkm - I agree with Vero...it sounds like contractions. I had contractions starting at about 30 weeks. I could usually just lay down and drink more water and they would go away. Just mention it to your docotor at your next appointment, and ask what their threshold is for how many/how often. My OB told me from the beginning that it was a good thing to start having them early - Lots of practice for the real thing :)

Today is my due date, and I am SOOO ready to have this baby! My BP has been fine, but I still have a headache. I'm giving it a couple more hours to go away, but then I'm calling my OB. I am miserable :( I'll keep you guys posted...

Peak -- LOL!

Melly -- Happy "due date" :D I bet you are ready!!! Let's hope little Allison decides to come soon! Take care of that headache and BP...

My feet were a bit swollen yesterday morning, but I think it was because I spent way too much time sitting... DH and I took a long walk in the park taking advantage of the "chilly" weather we had late in the afternoon and when we finished my feet looked like feet again :D so I was happy!

Have a nice Sunday everyone!

Well, I ended up going to the hospital again today. I took my bp and it was 128/89, so they wanted me to come in. All of my tests came back normal which is a great thing! One of the other OB's from the practice was on call, and she suggested that I go home, and wait to be induced tomorrow by my OB. Until then I'm supposed to rest and keep my feet elevated. I'm already 2cm, 80% effaced, so they would just give me pitocin. I can have my epideral at 3cm, so I don't have far to go. Hopefully my next post will be my birth story, but we shall see...

Thanks everyone!! I'm in bed at the hospital with the cervidil in! Oh God I hope it works! I am surprisingly less nervous than I expected. They said my cervix is very soft, baby is at 0 station, and about a lil over a centimeter.
