Hi.
I was wondering if anyone has tried Loestrin 24 Fe? And if you have what has your experience been?
I am hoping to request a new perscription when I see my doctor this week and was reading about Loestrin 24 Fe. I switched BCPs a year ago to help control some spotting, but, since then my period has gotten heavier and longer, also my "pms" symptoms have returned (painfully sore breasts, cramping, breakouts, and general feeling of yuckiness). The thing I like about my current pill is that it is monophasic.
I know everyone's experience is different, and mine will be too...but any insight would be appreciated.
Thank you,
~Laura

Okay. Void my pervious message...
So I saw the doctor today and described how I was feeling on Yasmin and how I wanted to try something different.
She gave me a perscription for "ortho-cyclen" ...not tri-cyclen...anyway, anyone have experiences on this? Anything I should know?
Thank you,
Laura

Hi,
I'm actually going to start YAZ tonight..it's something new. similar to Yasmin, but not quite the same...I did try both ortho-cycline, and tri cycline..I couldn't take either...I actually, feel lousy on most birth control pills but on both of those, I ended up breaking out in hives, and actually couldn't breathe. They thought maybe it was a dye in those particular pills...but I do know a few people who have tried both as well and swear by them. They feel great and have no break through bleeding...so don't nec. base your experience on mine  But both my friends do love orthocycline. And one has been on it for 4 months and one for a yearish. Best of luck with your meds!

I've been one on almost all except the YAZ currently on yasmin but not liking it.. On second pack day 13 and still spotting medium... sorry TMI.. but Lestrin FE made me sick because of the FE which is the iron component. I have to be careful with that and it just made me feel really yecky.. i've been on so many It's hard to keep count of all the names and strenghths and with the ones with similar names and some only differ with some numbers it is hard because some were only sample packsnot scripts.

Same pills, different dosing schedule, I guess it is to keep it on patent longer or to see if it helps better with the periods on the ups and downs. I wonder if my docter realized that. Is it the same in hormone strength I wonder.
Nope Yaz has lower hormone strengths than the Yasmin does but the samples look alike and the name sounds alike so we as patients don't know sometimes... I wonder if my nurse knew if she had handed me the wrong pills.
Yasmin has 3mg Drospirone/.03mg Ethinyl Estradiol with 7 inert tabs/with 21 active
Yaz has 3mg Drsp / .02mg Ethinyl Estradiol with 4 inert tabs/with 24 active
Not a big difference but on my body, it seems to be alot of difference. It must be that one is low estrogen long pack and the other is the higher estrogen short pack...( as in the active pills) But made by the same company and like I said probably to keep the specialized patent longer.

Ok so I'm on day 4 of YAZ, and I have to say so far I like it. I'm not nauseas at all, which is amazing cause sometimes If I look at something the wrong way i get sick  I weighed myself yesterday and lost a pound. Don't knbow if it's from the YAZ or not. I've tried everything out there...except yasmin, and the doc told me to try this nerw pill, because he said a lot of women have a lot of luck with it, and becasue my testosterone was so high, the hormones in YAZ actually binds testosterone and keeps it from working, so i'd feel better, and regulate my periods etc. He said this with seeing a repro endo should help. So far so good, we'll see what happens and I'll keep you posted. Again i can't ever take bcp's but so far I feel pretty good. HTH if your thinking about trying them! :D
