I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2005.

At the beginning of this April, I started taking Glucophage at 500 mg.. Finally after many, many months, I got my period towards the end of April/start of May. In the start of May, I was increased to 1000 mg.. Then, towards the end of May, I was increased again to 1500 mg. (supposed optimum dosage amount & in which ovaluation should begin). In June, however, I did not get my period. This past weekend, I did get my period.

How many more months should I wait to have regular cycles/ovulate before my husband & I "officially" start trying to conceive? Also, should I begin an ovulation kit? I guess I need some help knowing how to "officially" start, too (besides the obvious way, of course!).

Any & all help would be greatly appreciated.

Everyone is different, maybe the typical theraputic dosage isn't enough for you. Mine had to get up to 2000 a day before they became truly regular (my doc considers 25-34 regular if I rememeber right). I definely would give it longer to work...I'd say at least 6 months. Maybe take a look at what else you can tweek..diet, excersise...the usuals.

My doctor put me on progestrin to take if period more then a couple days late adn take it for 10 or if start period stop. I have only used it once when i forst was diagnosed, weight loss has helped in mine being regular now.
