Hey, I had the same problem on my upper lip. I actaully have been taking Yasmin, and I haven't had to wax it for a couple months. How long have you been taking your meds? I had to wait a couple weeks for them to actually kick in. Anywayz, hopefully I helped out!

Yasmin is a birth control pill that regulates my periods.

I am now taking spirolactone(sp?) for hair growth. Its a diauretic(water pill) but it helps with hair. I only started yesterday and it won't start working for about 6 months. You could ask you doctor about this.

Hey. I heard laser hair removal is pretty painful and they don't know a lot about it yet. I went to a few places and did a sample for electrolisis(sp?) I think I'll do that later on, it' dosen't hurt that much except in certain places. I don't know how much Sporonolactone(Sp!?) would help, I heard it dsoen't help much.

i've been thinking seriously about laser hair removal too...how painful is it? Now I'm scared. :( I can't think of any other way to get rid of it.

I heard laser hair removal is painful, but electrolosis isn't that bad. In some area's it's more painful than others. It sorta feels like they're just plucking hairs.

What really stinks is having blonde hair and have alot of it...i have problems with my chin and alot of hair on it but i cant so the laser treatment because its blonde and it wont work and the only thing my doc can think of is a cream but it doesnt work very well so all i can do is either wax or nair it but i perfer nair because it doesnt hurt and you can do it in your own home and the redness is easier to cover up wit foundation

I have dark facial hair and I am fair complected. I've never waxed my upper lip or chin, just creme bleached it. But now I have a problem with hives so my skin is extra sensitive and the chemicals in the bleach have always caused redness since I started bleaching when I was 11.

So it's been over 2 months since I bleached these trouble spots, and needless to say, the hair is VERY visible. :?

I've never done waxing, and am thinking about it. NOT the hot waxing, cuz I know that will definitely cause a skin catastrophe.

All of you that have done regular facial waxing, please give me some feedback on this.

Shar,

I heard that creams don't remove the hairs by the root, just at the surface of the skin. But I've never used Nair, so maybe their different.

i have laser hair removal, and though it is not considered permanent it has reduced the amount of hair on my face a considerable amount, making it much easier/quicker and generally less necessary to shave.

it does hurt, feels like tweezing multiple areas at once or something of the sort, yet i felt that the momentary pain was, while uncomfortable, worthwhile for the results it produced.

if you have any questions about my experiences w/laser (want to know specifics of the procedure, etc), feel free to PM me or simply reply here

Hey i've just joined...i have quite a few questions about this particaular area of discussion.
I am 17 years old...i have embaressingly got hair on my chest and nipple area...and up lip....this can't be normal!
I've been reading up on PCOS and the symptoms of it...i have 6 out of 8 of the symptoms tha ti have heard of so far...
I think im more worried that its not that...then i'm probably a total freak if its not PCOS. At least if it was i would feel better about having a reason...
What do you guys think?

hey, im 20 years old... not sure if that still counts as a teen, but the older women seem to be discussing pregnancy and hair loss on the other forums so I thought this would be more appropriate for me. I've had PCOS for years, I'm pretty sure, but was recently diagnosed last summer. I tried laser, but it didn't work too well and actually burned my skin so now I have scars. The hair is growing thicker all over my face and around my nipples and on my thighs and basically all over my body... i dont know what to do. i feel like ive tried everything. i just started taking yasmin yesterday, so hopefully i will notice some results in the next few months.

im 20 years old too, but these discussion boards are more for me anyway. ive been dealing with excess hair for years now and i can tell you first hand that i have tried ALOT of things....
-for those of you thinking about laser hair removal, yes it is very painful and a pain because you have to shave the hair off before hand and then it grows back faster. i have a lot of blonde hair so it essentially didnt work well for me because it can only catch dark hair. but i have fairly sensitive skin and it was fine with the laser and they have all sorts of different levels and different kinds for different kinds of skin and i know a lot of people it has worked for so its worth a try if you have dark hairs.
-for anyone who does not have sensitive skin i would highly recommend AVON's waxing hair removal kit...its inexpensive and worked really well to get even the course hair unfortunately my skin would get really irritated so i had to stop.
- i opened a discussion board about 6 months ago asking for advice and i got great feedback. someone recommended to get an epilator. and i love it! go to target or something its in the aisle with all the shaving supplies. it has worked great for me...it doesn't irrate my skin at all and it leaves it pretty smooth and much less embarrassing!
- also my doctor just prescibed Spiro for me. she told me it works by lowering my testosterone level so i much less excess hair, the only problem is that it only works while youre taking it, if i ever stop the hair will grow right back. ive only been on it a couple days and i hear it takes a couple months to see results, but ive heard great things!

well i know it was long but i had a lot of advice so i hope it helps someone! and girls-keep your head up. we're not alone!

I'm in my late 20s but was interested in knowing about teen problems. For me, excess hair is, hands down, the most annoying thing about PCOS. I have a moderate amount of hair on my cheeks and chin...A little on my tummy and chest. It sucks big time.

I hate shaving those areas because it just grows coarser. Bleaching, using depilatory creams and all the jazz haven't been very effective for me.

Now that I can afford it, I thread my face. This is a technique using a cotton thread, twisted around, that removes the hair gently from the face. It hurts but it's worth it--my hair grew back lighter and blonder after the 2nd month of using this technique. I have to let it grow for two weeks before I go to the salon, and will have to continue using the technique for a while before the hair thins out to an acceptable level (this will happen in about 6 months). If you haven't tried it and hate the other techniques, I highly recommend it.

I use waxing or sugaring (like wax but the paste is made from sugar, water and lemon) for my bikini, stomach and chest.

And I also have to remember that everybody's a little bit hairy. It's unfortunate I have to live with a little bit of excessive hairiness but that's just the way I am.

someone said if u stop taking your spiro. pill the hair will grow back and its true, i went to this one gyno and she was real stupid and she told me i didnt have to take them and as a result i had hair that grew. :( i have excess hair on my upper lip its like on the sides, my mom says u can't notice but its different when its on you. i have also taken yasmin didn't work for me. i think the only thing that will really help is electrolysis.

my mom says u can't notice but its different when its on you

That God, someone else that understands that!!

I don't have hair on my actual face (touch wood) just a few strands on my neck which aren't too noticeable, but I do have horrid sideburn things - eww. And no matter how much my mum or best friend or boyfriend tells me it isn't noticeable, I just feel lik everyone's laughing at me (think a result of a very embarrassing experience at school :( ) Meh.
